Great video, I've been shooting black and white since I took photography in collage when darkrooms were a common thing. I love Black and White, there's such a rich history of street photography in New York City and many of those photographers worked in black n white. Your videos though have me stepping into color, especially with fashion photoshoots I do I use at least one roll of color film. Part of not working color though was I was learning photography during the beginnings of digital photography, when the good color film stocks started disappearing. I think Color photography really got legitimized around the same time kodachrome was released to the public, but even to this day I still get frustrated when I've found a good color film I like working with and its then suddenly its no longer in production.

Black and white just carries that nostalgia, especially in NYC. For me personally I can’t pass up the colors of NYC spring through fall. But when winter comes….time for black and white.

Hope to be able to go see this body of work in person, either be a gallery or being able to buy a photobook. Love what you are doing and excited to see what you end up doing with all those photos from this summer.

Ya I've been thinking about the big bnw switch myself as a permanent option for a while too. Darkroom printing being the main reason. And I love all your opinions and reasons too. Good work bro.

Never apologize for being who you are! I’ve been struggling lately. Struggling to find where I fit in, in the photography world. Your work inspires me to get back out there and share my work. Being authentic is key with whatever I do. Enjoy this time in your life, you will look back at it as one of your greatest successes! JMHO

Always love your content and work, it inspires me to go shoot.
Just shot my last roll of color this year, and bought some Ilford film (4x 135-36), chemicals and an enlarger off of Ebay. Shooting less landscapes, and more moments/things that matter to me with my grandfathers camera. Planning on making my own prints for myself and larger ones to give to friends framed. It might take me a while to go through even one roll in a month. Switching to B&W to cut out the middleman scanning my color film. I can use my Fuji for color anyways. I want to learn darkroom printing and put my effort into something im proud of and handmade that I can give to people as an artpiece, but more importanly a recollection of a memory.

I'm in a constant internal battle regarding bnw v clr. What I've settled on is that my preference in bnw but, there are certain subject matters that cry out to be shot on clr. And yes, I regularly flip shots taken on a color film stock to BNW, sometimes the image just works better in monochrome.

Mentioning the idea of being straightforward, it got me thinking. I'm no genius with my photography; hell most days I'm not even good at it; but no matter how uninteresting or 'novice' my work is, there's always one thing I think I can say, almost proudly about my work: it's honest. It's the world as I see it, and as I interact with it. If you look at my photos, you're looking at me, seeing the things that catch my eye, and the things that whisper to my mind, saying "this is important." I don't always know why, and the message doesn't always translate, but every now and then people get it, and it makes me happy to see those moments. I almost always shoot black & white simply because it's cheaper, but there's no denying that historic, timeless feeling that a moment captured in b&w can deliver. Now of course I've just started to play more in color, so it seems we're swapping sides, but I wish you lots of joy in exploring the world through this different pallet.
