Enjoyed your reactions. Heart was actually founded by guitarist Roger Fisher and bassist Steve Fossen in 1967. They became well known throughout Washington state. Playing small clubs, festivals and street fairs. Their original singer left in 1970. Roger put an ad, for a singer, in the local newspaper. Ann auditioned and was immediately hired. Nancy didn't join until 1974. Ann, Roger, Nancy and drummer Mike wrote Barracuda. Roger plays the lead guitar on Barracuda while Nancy plays acoustic.
I think it’s a Porpoise, a seemingly more docile and friendly fish, as opposed to a Barracuda which is a fast predator with sharp teeth. Edit: just watched the part where you talked about the sea creatures.
Love this channel. My favorite of the music breakdown channels. Maybe not the *most* technical, but just feels like hanging with your bros and enjoying all the finer details of great jams. 10/10 as always.
Thank you, you nailed it! That is exactly what we’re going for. We love the technical stuff but that’s what we do at work when we’re doing our episodes we are literally and sincerely just hanging out and discovering this magic. Our reactions are real and in the moment! And maybe a little buzzed?
Another winning choice!! REAL tracks. Blemishes make it cool when you stir it all up. Bonham/Chouinard drum mix. Voice that melts you, no wonder it's still a valid specimen. You guys make learning fun. What's next??????
The drummer never dated the singer. He did date Nancy in the eighties fir a short while. Ann was dating their manager and Nancy was dating his brother who was also the guitar player
I have no idea why yet, but this break down got me thinking about Golden Earring -Twilight Zone. You guys should definitely take a trip to where the bullet hits the bone! Come on now!
Whats got me tearing my hair out, is how you guys keep saying: that sounds like Iron Maiden, Police, Axl Rose/GnR, etc… no fellas no! Those aforementioned bands were AFTER Heart. They were influenced by Heart like they were influenced by Zeppelin. No other band can compare.
Please don’t tear your hair out. I think we were talking about how heart influenced them not the other way around, thanks for watching! Plenty of more gut wrenching episodes with completely ridiculous reactions waiting for you on the channel 😍
@@deepinsidethemusic Barracuda was written about someone of the music industry that Ann met that insinuated that her and Nancy were lovers. Basically from the cover of Dreamboat Annie. Nancy is the porpoise in the song. I can hear Howard, his tone is different. If you watch live videos you can get an idea. I like Howard's playing. He da man! He does the mellotron on this track that you were hearing at the end.
Ann and Nancy have explained in interviews that they grew up listening to The Beatles, and it was seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan that inspired them to pick up guitars. The porpoise was Nancy’s nickname, and kind of their spin on “I am the walrus” /“the walrus was Paul”
Here I was thinking that Pat Benatar was the female Ronnie James Dio. Just got schooled by my wife. Ann Wilson is the female Ronnie James Dio. Don't believe me? Take it up with Jen. She was classically trained, and was the singer for a Blues band.
@@deepinsidethemusic The band was Deja Blue. They used to play Bangkok Blues (a Thai restaurant in Falls Church, VA) She was the front lady, and my brother played keyboards. Unfortunately, bro had palsy in his left hand and had to quit. Now my 15 year old daughter is starting to sing like Jen. She's still too shy to sing in front of an audience, but she's in her high school's select choir. She'll come out of her shell. 👍
Did you guys ever check out and isolate the tuba track on Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash? Did a request for it a while back. Have not found that video but will continue looking.
Hahaha! I partially agree with that! It is a real time reaction, that some of it gets edited out some of it does not There are a couple of episodes where we tell each other to shut the fuck up! Thank you for watching😄

Ann said Nancy is the porpoise -- so Nancy made those comments after the record company started the rumor about Ann and Nancy.
Incredible!

ITS AMAZING

Thanks! Holy dating game!?!
This was amazing!!!!!!!! I really thought this was a simple song....DAMN!!! Great Guys!!!!
THANK YOU! It blew our minds!!!
Seriously, you thought this was “simple”?
@@IAMCAVE seriously, you cannot read what I typed in? How did you want me to respond?
also, the leafblower gag was one of the best things I've seen on this channel 😂
HA! Thank you. It was definitely fun :-)
daaaaaamn, nice suit Ronnie!
Hey thanks!!!
Hey guys. The first gallop in rock I can remember is the Immigrant Song from Zeppelin. Which we all know was a huge influence on the members of Heart.
YES!!!
I have no idea why yet, but this break down got me thinking about Golden Earring -Twilight Zone. You guys should definitely take a trip to where the bullet hits the bone! Come on now!
YESSSSS! We will look!
Had no idea the Ovation was in there. Great jam fellas.
Thanks for hanging! What a great song!
Although they didn't write the song, This Flight Tonight predates Barracuda for the galloping 16ths by a few years.
Whoa!?! Thank you! We will check it out immediately!
That's Roger Fisher doing almost all the solos on the early Heart stuff, before he got kicked out. His tone is like no one else's.
Agreed! Thanks!!!
It was a bash on the record producer. They wanted Ann and Nancy to be lesbians. They have commented on this before.
Crazy!

The 'porpoise" is her sister Nancy's nickname...

There was a cool bass guitar thing going on just before the outro part . I wish you would've soloed that.
Ahhhhhrrrrggghhh! We will go back!

The porpise....is her sister
MIMD BLOWN!?! Why? How?
I think maybe she was, in a way, protecting her sister? Didn't want the barracuda of the industry to destroy them both?
Should be Howard Leese playing the solo
