Daughter of a cabinet maker here: Next time you’re staining a door or anything else, put the stain on using a foam brush, then use a rag to remove excess. You can then dry brush over the wet stain very lightly with a regular paint brush. Then repeat for other coats. That way, the wood grain will be more apparent and it will have less of a brown-painted look.
In my experience only gel stain you can treat more like paint. The oil based just gets sticky if you don’t wipe it off the excess and let it dry in between coats. Ask me how I know. 😂
I wish there was some way you could’ve told her this before she stained it!! I was screaming inside when she used a paintbrush and didn’t wipe off the excess 😣😣 after all the work of stripping it in the first place

One of the main things I look forward to every Sunday. You’re seriously such a role model MaCenna, thank you for providing such a sense of home and always such positive vibes. 🤍
Seeing you run around the new area actually brought tears to my eyes. The joy that comes through you is a reminder to us all how wonderful life is suppose to be ! Thank you , so happy for you
When you were signing the names in the concrete I totally got all the goosebumps! It’s so wonderful to see someone get everything they deserve. You EARNED THIS! 🖤
Framing goes so fast! You'll go off to hit the thrifts stores one afternoon and come home to find your new house just standing there. So happy for you.
Literally cried when I saw you running over the concrete. It’s so empowering and inspiring to see how much love you pour into this home!! Also, love the white doorknob, and maybe unpopular opinion but how about white outside black inside? Because of the black windows that are more present inside? Otherwise fully white because it’s bringing in the wood tones and the white from the siding!
I've been watching this renovation since the beginning, but haven't commented until now. Really love how detailed you are about everything, it makes me feel so much more knowledgeable about how this all works and inspires me to want to create my own home in the future. You are so enthusiastic it's contagious, and it helps me reconnect with my own enthusiasm about my interests. Thanks, MaCenna!

The part of you putting pre-stain on the door calmed me so much. It felt so much like fall is finally here, also love the music in the background. Love every bit of progress you achieve. You go girl, you’re so inspiring!
I have never found a handle nearly as pretty as the white handle! So my choice would be the white because it would accent the house color and break up the darker door. That front door look gorgeous all stained. I can’t wait to see it all done how beautiful it will be.
The way you inspire me to achieve things in my daily life is unbelievable. We are similar aged but live such different lives, yet I thrive on your energy and it sets a good tone for my week ahead. Thank you for all the positivity!
I look forward to your Sundays videos … watched every episode im obsessed, can’t wait for the decor and styling part .. getting closer , so excited .. God bless
I think what MaCenna needs for stripping the doors is Laquer Thinner to sit for 10-15 mins, then you scrape that off. Depending on the amount of paint, you may have to do it twice. Then you use Mineral Spirits with steel wool to get the remaining paint off. After all that, you sand it with coarse sandpaper, then fine paper. I prefer my orbital sander. All these steps will maybe take up a few hours in your day. It won't take days like it's sounding it is. A carpenter from Home Depot told me about this technique, and I used it to restore all the horribly painted furniture in my university apartment back to its original glory. lol This works like magic.

MaCenna, I had a stripping and refinishing shop and I've stripped 100's of pieces, you can safely have the doors professionally stripped, just ask around there at antique stores and dealers and you should be able to find someone! Question - Why didn't you put the stain on and then wipe the excess stain off with a clean cloth? Is this stain different that you don't do that with this kind? It doesn't really look like a traditional "stained" piece as much as it looks like you just painted it brown.

Yeah, the jury is still out for me on that door stain, white knob, etc. I. kind of liked the way it looked in the prepping stage. That said, I've always liked everything you've done so I believe in the end it will all come together, but so far I'm not feeling it.
As a furniture painter honestly the best paint stripper is Kwik-Strip from Klean Strip. Is way faster and effective. Also a tip, after strip your paint Mineral Spirits and a steel wool Grade #0000 is the best way to take off all paint and strip residues. If the stripper doesn't work too good you tend to scratch more the wood and eventually you are damaging all the surface. And with the stain is better looking if you wipe off with a lint free rag after application. Otherwise, brush marks are going to dry very visible and uneven staining look. Hope this helps.
Never commented before but had to say how sweet it was to watch you running your lap on the newly dried concrete, good for you! You are a very impressive and multi-talented young woman! The world is getting digital so I invest online, but it takes a good broker or expert to be successful, but I worry less because I have a trader who understands more than I do ( mrs zaneilia Harris ). she trades and manages my portfolio, shes also a Manger.
@@alebhd7434 what platform is Mr zaneilia using ? and how to start?
White handle all the way! All are beautiful but I love the contrast the white brings. Congrats on all the progress!
Definitely the white knob!!! Makes me happy to see how happy you are with the progress!! Can’t wait to see the framing & interior soon!!!!
Never commented before but had to say how sweet it was to watch you running your lap on the newly dried concrete, good for you! You are a very impressive and multi-talented young woman! Purchasing, renovating/restoring an old farmhouse and filming the process was a brilliant idea, your content far surpasses expensively produced home renovation television programs.
Definitely the lightest doorknob! Love it! 😍👌
Love the white porcelain knob. The white ties into the walls, and the brown veining complements the wood on the door and deck
DEF the white handle. The door looks fabulous. The amount of patience u have is beyond me. GO U!
The white handle definitely looks the best! It definitely adds more interest to the door!
Definitely the white door knob.
You're doing amazing work! Thank you for sharing your journey.✨💜✨
I am crying happy tears for the both of you. The excitement that you show makes me smile. You putting your names in the concrete, you should take a photo and then put in a frame. Hugs .😊
Definitely the white knob! It looks sooo good, really elegant
the white door knobs will look great with your door- I can see your vision now with the concrete is poured, I am just as excited as you and can’t wait for the walls to go up!

Love option 1, the white knob. The place is looking AMAZING!
I love the white knob!! Definitely agree with you it's a taste of whats to come inside & breaks up the darker timber.
The white door knob, definitely. Would pull it all together just perfect 👌🏼
White door knob for sure! It adds a nice contrast and it will compliment the exterior paint color.
