    I have known for a while that as long as you as you have speed, it doesn't matter how big or strong the other guy is.
    Speed=momentum=power, so in reality, the faster you hit someone, going at a all-out speed, the sheer speed and momentum will knock a guy out in one punch.
    I studied kenpo for 12 year's.

    For myself, a man of average height and build, speed and agility was always king. Whether sparring or real world application, speed combined with power and awareness/mobility gave me an edge, or at least the ability to throw off my attacker. For me, martial arts was always about stopping the fight before it begins. Preferably, without ever throwing a punch or even escalation of a mere argument. Using my brain was always paramount, and then being keenly aware of any potentiality is something I require of myself. However, I'm not stupid enough to think that a big guy can't devastate me. It just means I know my limits and will act accordingly.

If you are big your just easy to hit.Big bodies will slow you down.This is what something Goku said,'The power and strength got 70% times stronger but 30 % speed is reduced. Biceps are for folding the arm, so giant biceps definitely don’t help with jabs. For a roundhouse punch, biceps might help since you apply some contraction to keep the arm bent. Synthol arms aren’t helping anyone. It’s hard to contract muscles when they are slowly solidifying and dying.

    Well dammit, no notification AGAIN! I suggest skeptics check out Mohammed Ali, arms were ok but certainly not noteworthy. As a retired cop in the states, I find parallels with the concepts in this video and gunshot effects. Specifically, it's a whole lot more important where you put the bullet than what bullet you put there. Put a .45 in my shoulder, I'm still very much in the fight. Put a .380 (9mm short) in my pump, well...it's pretty much over.

    Shadow boxing is not really going to help you punch harder. Obviously training to strike properly with the right technique and timing is important. It's also important to build the muscles that are involved in striking. Hitting a heavy bag or pad work with a coach is much better for this than shadow boxing. But after all it still is just mass times acceleration that determines power.

  • @phaedra9698
    @phaedra9698 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Didn't really answer if increasing your arm mass would at some point reduce your fighting power because you simply can't accelerate a large arm as fast as a smaller one. Like anything, presumably the best is a balanced body, so that your legs and back are strong enough to accelerate your arms. More relevant question is, "How many hours per week should you work on body building vs skill training and how to know which would be the most beneficial for you?

    The only thing I’m not to sure of is about the weight behind the arm in force production the acceleration comes from your whole body being able to rotate efficiently and then is multiplied by the weight of your arm, so does this mean if you can accelerate just as effectively but have a heavier arm, would that mean a stronger punch?

  • @TheSocialSmilingMonkey
    @TheSocialSmilingMonkey 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unnatural isn't necessarily an advantage..
    As timing momentum accuracy can make a factor. But without the kinetic energy power can be minimized.
    Seriously think ..
    A punch swing without the weight being behind it is nothing but a SLAP..

    The human heart is limited on the muscles mass to accommodate blood flow. Those big muscle guys will tire out quicker from their heart. Maybe if they punch lighter to set up then follow through with hard body punches to finish off the opponent.

    Punching power is weird. I saw guys who were 145 pounds and they could knock out a heavy weight. Look at a guy like Ramon Dekkers in his early days. He was skinny but he could kick like a horse and punch like a bear. I also saw guys who were massive bodybuilders but they couldn't punch with power even if their life depended on it. You can develop punching power but a lot is genetic. Btw I've started to upload videos of my own too. If anyone wants to check them out and subscribe I would really appreciate it. Have a great day and please stay healthy in a time like this!

    • @fightscience
