    You absolutely do not need to replace the head every six months. Realistically, you can get a couple of years out of it. I have very thick, very dense stubble, and I have to shave twice per day, at a minimum. The head cuts fine after years of use. I’m fact, when I finally replace it, the difference is almost indiscernible.

    • @SketchesofChina
      @SketchesofChina 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Their replacement heads suck. I got 3 in a row that broke within 3 months. I even waited a year and a half before buying the third hoping they would have fixed the problem.

    Do NOT use the cleaning station only once a month, and DO NOT wait until the solution is as filthy as in this video before you replace it.
    I use my cleaning station after two or three shaves. The blades work better that way.
    You can also make your own cleaning solution with isopropol alcohol, maybe mixed with some distilled water, and essential oils (6-8 drops per filling of container). Works fine, at a tiny fraction of the cost of the refills from Braun.

  • @braingasim
    @braingasim 2 ปีที่แล้ว +40

    FYI, dont fill the cartridge with water, You can buy large bottles of the refill cleaner and refill it that way (Will save a TON of money!!!). Just make sure you clean out all the cut hairs first. There are several videos that explain how to do it.

    I use the cleaning station after every shave. The limiting factor is the evaporation of the fluid which is little affected by how often you use it.

    • @TheWongReviewer
      @TheWongReviewer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there. Thanks for the feedback. You're right, i never considered the evaporation factor of the fluid. I wonder if the "timer" on the charging base the prompts you to change out the solution is based on "# of uses" or evaporation factor?

    • @breadfan9
      @breadfan9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Everyday is really excessive. I MIGHT use it once a week. I take it out of the station and put the cap back on. I usually get about 4 months use out of 1 unit before I need to change it. Of course, if money is no object then by all means use it as much as you want.

    • @johnantonioni9654
      @johnantonioni9654 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yep, I have a cleaning station for my 7 Series Braun. I clean after every shave. I simply knock the excess hairs out and then use the station to clean and lubricate. I’ve found that using the unit does not really compromise the life of the solution that much. Replacements aren’t that expensive relatively speaking - besides you’ve bought a premium razor so it might as well be used in a premium way.

      Cleaning it only once a month is far too infrequent. It should be cleaned every time it needs to be charged which is once a week in my case.

  • @williamgrissom1995
    @williamgrissom1995 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    You should use the cleaner more often since it cleans and lubricates. That lubrication helps keep the razor head lasting longer.
    I would suggest using the cleaner at least once a week.

    1.Use the cleaning station EVERY TIME you've finished shaving. 2. Do not use the brush on the foil. You risk damaging the foil. 3. The foil should be replaced every 18 months approximately. 4. Don't fill the cartridge with anything other than the recommended solution.

    When you use the cleaning station and the cleaning/drying cycle is done, if you take the shaver out and feel the shaving head with your hand, is it wet? I recently bought a Series 9 Pro and this is happening to me. The shaving head smells alcoholy like the cleaning solution, so I'm wondering if the drying cycle is not functioning properly? Is it supposed to be completely dry?

      Mine is wet too but the Panasonic cleaning station totally dries a panasonic shaver , but Bruan just doesn't care. It would be great if it works , and it would also be great if Bruan allowed us to simply turn on the drying cleaning mode, so that those of us who use it once a week and use the tap in between could just dry clean only.I hate the scent of the cleaning solution, especially in the tash area, as it enters my nose the smell more . I suppose I could make my own solution and refill the cartridge .

      I rinse my cutting head out under hot running water every time I use it & let it air dry after gently bouncing it on a dry hand towel. I only use the cleaning station when it needs to be recharged, which is typically every 5 weeks or so. After charging it in the cleaning station I replace the cap on the tank to help seal it and reduce the evaporation of the solution. This way I can normally get 6 months out of each Clean & Renew cartridge. I do occasionally use compressed air to clean the head & razor also. I just added a new Series 9 Pro head (94M) to my wish list on Amazon after reading reviews about how much better it shaves than with the original 92S head. The original head lasted about 15-16 months and my Braun is a little over 2 years old so it will soon be time to replace the head again.

    I bought the Braun S9 Pro a couple of months ago. Loved the shaving experience. However after each shave it indicated the water drops to clean it in the station. No matter how much I clean it, the water drop only disappears after I use the cleaning station. Exchanged it to a new one because the shop said it must be faulty.
    The new one 1st shave out of the box for the same. And then after the clean I shaved in 2 days. Again the same result. No matter how much I clean it, the indicator only goes away after cleaning in the station. Is this normal?
    I sadly returned the 2nd unit and got the money back. But really loved the shaver. Want to clarify this. So I can buy this again.

      Hi there. that's strange. Try cleaning the charging contacts on both the razer and on the charging base to see if that helps.

    Why w;ould you refill the cleaning cartridge with WATER (7:10).... when you first opened it didn't your nose tell you the cartridge is filled with ALCOHOL??

  • @cubader86
    @cubader86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The manual says to clean the shaver after every use and the solution only lasts 8 weeks even without use as the alcohol evaporates.

      I read that some people don’t throw away the cap and use the cap in between cleanings to prevent evaporation.

    cleaning stations are a gimmick. Just wash it with soapy water. You replace the blade every 1.5 years anyways.

    I have question , do you use any appliance oil on the shaving head to keep the shaver in good condition?if yes, how often?

    • @TheWongReviewer
      @TheWongReviewer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there. I actually don't use any appliance oil on the shaver as maintenance. I never occurred me to lubricate the individual rotating blades. I just ordered replacement heads since I started using it. I'll have to research this some more

      If you don't have a cleaning station, you'll need to oil them but if you do have cleaning station the oil is already in the cleaning station's solution. However, If you use cleaning station solutions once a week, dry shave, and only rinse under the tap with water after shaving and nothing else, you can get away with oiling it every two days, but if you wet shave with foam, you will need to oil it every time you finish because foam dries the blade.If you clean it with soap, in the tap it will need to be oiled every time afterwords too Oil is essential because it extends the life of the blade, keeps it cutting smoothly, and prevents it from overheating and Oiling can also reduce skin irritation .Any type of hair clippers oil will do, such as whals hair clippers oil or bruan oil, but never use wd40 or olive oil, which clogs and destroys the shaver. I say this because I've seen some idiots say they use WD40 or olive oil and that is the worst thing someone can do.

      You can use cooking oil and then place it in the pan and cook the shaver like an omelette.

    I think that's why da BUDDHA recommended weekly baths - and I recommend WITCH HAZEL - or any anti-bacterial wash - in appropriate concentration. Not WATER - bugs love dirty water. Didn't you have a microscope when you were 12?

    Braun is just like the old printer cartridge scam - if you don’t use the cleaner and more importantly buy cleaner supplies - the razor shuts down. If I had that huge Braun cleaning center on the bathroom counter my gal would leave me - why is it mandatory to clean something that’s in the shower everyday - buy your expensive cleaner crap or Braun knows it and razor is worthless like mine.

      Thanks for the comments. I'm starting using the Braun and I've actually stopped using the cleaning station. As long as I've clean it weekly, it seems to still work.

      I paid for mine on sale. I don't think I would pay full price at $300. However, value of it's worth is up to each person.
