Hey, Writing on iPad is a different experience than paper. My handwriting is worse on iPad, but that's not an issue for me. You can apply paperlike screen protector to increase friction and get a paper feel. I haven't used it so I can't say much about it. Overall it's a good writing experience.

Yes, even 128 GB is enough for all study related docs. I decided to go with 256 GB as i also store media, and do drawings and video editing on my iPad. Also if you intend to use your device for very long time 256 gigs would give you plenty of room for future updates.
As I've purchased it recently, only few of my notes are digital. But I won't be making hard copy notes anymore. And Yes it's amazing for Geo, esp for figures and map editing.

Don't waste money in iPad pro. I have literally watched 100 videos of comparison for study. Please do consider iPad air 4 or iPad 8 gen. iPad pro is for artists.
That's not maturity my dear friend. It's all about utilising the resource at its best. Some people don't have the luxury to prepare full time. They can't carry books and notes to their workplace but they can carry a tablet and utilise whatever time they get. I'm working in a govt organisation in officer cadre. We cannot open books to study for upsc. We have to utilise whatever time we get and that too in a very professional way. We don't have the liberty to open the books and notes in the office. Here, having an iPad comes in handy. But, I must say having an iPad is not compulsory but if you're working and paid decently then you must have it. At least it would help you revise 1.5-2 hours in the office. Good Luck Bhai.
