I've been taught by my meditation teachers that faith and confidence come from testing the waters and coming to see you find something to be true. Once you've found the truth for yourself, through your own experience, you have faith in whatever idea it is that you've tested, and therefore confidence in your beliefs and self.

Love how technically he put in context. Make it easier to understand the step by step process. Thank you.

This talk reminds me of a wise quote:
“By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third, by experience, which is the most bitter.” ~Confucius

In Buddhism, We first listen the teachings, than We contemplate them by reasoning, a finally We meditate in them. That's our Triple Training.

Thank you @BuddhistSocietyWA and Ajahn for this video. Ajahn Brahmali really condensed a lot of 'higher-level' knowledge into a form that is suitable for the layperson in this talk. Also a comment, it's great that Ajahn Brahmali seems to have shed his quite heavy accent which made some of his earlier talks a bit harder to understand.

This is a very useful talk. I was troubled and distracted by a negative feedback or complaint targeted at me. My negative feeling has clouded my mind and maybe even silently draining my energy. I was feeling tried easily and less energetic. This talk has systematic real cuts through my negative feeling with regards to the negative and untrue complaint. I was feeling also like a unfortunate victim of false accussaton. Thank you very much.

I don't really know about other schools of Buddhism, but in Theravada tradition there is an emphasis on the fact that there IS no good or bad. All of that is relative to culture in any given time or place. There is only harming and non-harming, pertaining to your live and the lives of people you affect. Does that make sense?

Theravada tradition as all the other schools of Buddhism, base their moral conduct in karma.

Because basically, when you know enough about Buddhism through practice, you come to find that Buddhism itself isn't even "real", it's just a tool to find that mode of being which is available to every human being. The Buddha said his teachings were like a raft. Once you crossed to the other side it should be discarded. It is a practice to open your eyes to the true reality of the world, and not the narrative stories our minds make up. I think truthseekers have one up on humanity in that regard.

You can do breathing meditation all your life but the 3x reasons ( thee Keena Beejaa..Thee San hetun....thin nan San gathi...etc..)for suffering and rebirth ( punabbhawo)
    1.Raaga 2.Dwesha 3.Moha..
Will only be drowned TEMPERORILY only...
By practically using ( bhawethabbancha bhaawithan) ONLY you can achieve Weetharagi Weethadweshi and Weethamohi status AND proceed to elimination ( Raagakkhaya..
Dweshakkhaya and Mohakkhaya) of the 3x seeds.
Please read and refer to Raahulowaada Sutta.

sorry but this is very poor explanation of dharma, has not had the actual experience of clear mind, does not invalidate the teaching but close

Soooooo far away from the real Dhamma which Buddha taught...breathing meditation is NOT Budu Dahama...sorry with Meththa...
Please understand that Buddhism as Religion and pure Dhamma is totally different as Day and Night.
    Bhawana...( meditation)
    And..
Bhawitha ( practical use) is misinterpreted by learned scholars and NOT by " Awakened followers and mislead the followers...
    DUKKHA...is a result...NOT the cause...
    Jaathi " pi" Dukkha..
    Jaraa " pi" Dukkha..
    Wyadi " pi" Dukkha..etc...
Please research WHAT the " PI" means...
