  • When life is a sermon illustration... Pastor Burns shares a story of how hard it is to get back what you've lost. Not only have we lost something, but sometimes it's never coming back. How do we process this. Let's talk about it.

Thank you, Mr. Burns and Dr. Tisby, for what you (and your team) are doing with Pass the Mic! I've been listening for a few years, and look forward to every episode. I'm commenting on this episode because I was so moved by what Dr. Tisby said starting around the 25:30 mark, about his paradigm shift in centering the work he's doing on himself. The thing that first caught my attention - I had to replay it a few times - was about his 2-3-hour morning routine. What?!!! I have a morning routine that's typically ~1 hour, and I often feel like I have too much work to allow myself even that. Dr. Tisby really opened my mind to realize I'm not the only one - and that not only is it okay to take that time, it's necessary. What an insight, to realize I can prioritize the work I'm doing on myself, then build the rest of my day around that. My new goal is to not only take an hour, but to take more time when I need to. Thank you!
