The train engineer at Coachilla tooted shave and a hair cut. Classic
Yep. We got that a few times when filming there.
Excelent video congratulations ,from Argentina
@@FEROMODELISTAS Hello Argentina! Thank you for watching!
@@7ideaproductions Yes, I always watch your videos and the explanations you give seem excellent to me, that gives the video a plus, along with the good graphics, very good work
One of my favorite and most mysterious regions in the world. Love how you learn so much about history through the story of railroads!
4868 had the best Shave and a Hair Cut I've ever heard!
Thats super cool! The stories and history about the areas is awesome. Clearly an insane amount of work goes into these videos, phenomenal job!
Thank you very much!
The POWER of the Industry of the Railroad. WOW. THANKZ ALOT.
Great retrospective of the historic SP/UP Line. The drone footage really gives nice views of rails, mountains, agriculture and the Salton Sea you can’t get from the local highway.
thank you...tons of power
Fantastic as always 👍
What a nice surprise to see a show like this on here, I've been in this part of the country many times in my past, it's grown up a lot since then, thanks for bringing back good memories to me !!
Exceptional work! The Yuma sub east of Niland is one of the few lines I've spent a lot of time railfanning where the time sunk into driving (and once out there, the time spent waiting for hours on end due to bad UP dispatching) far outweighs the shot possibilities available, so I haven't been out to film it seriously since 2020. I appreciate this contemporary view of the line! Drone footage really helps capture the scale of the area that sticking to the side of 111 can't, great work overall ^^
Documentary speaking voice! Love it. You earned a sub.
Great video!! Great trains, history and scenery!!
When you can watch a video and learn something new then it is a good day! Nice job 7idea folks! 😊
What a great Video. I'm a conductor For UPRR working out of Roseville down to Bakersfield. Thanks for sharing 👍
Fantastic catches, you make great photography! Great deep dive into this historical video!
Yes. We winter in Palm Desert every year. Very active “Uncle Papa” route through the area.
Being interested in the Eagle Mount railroad, and knowing it was gonna be completely scrapped within a very short time my wife and I and our dog drove out to Ferrum to see what was still left. We crossed over one or two railroad tracks were obviously still in use, and while we were there A freight train came barreling down the tracks. I’m sure it’s the same train. That is the subject of this video.
A really fine video - the drone shots were especially good. I liked the informative nature of the video, also. The Salton Sea area must be quite remarkable.
Love this
great video sir ❤❤❤❤
Ilike train videos on TH-cam 👍
very professional and much appreciated show.
Thank you!
Besides the smell and chemicals in the air due to the fish rot i would recommend checking out the near by bomb bay beach some of the art work of the people there
Another great video. I spent some time exploring the western shore of the Salton Sea around Desert Shores. It's a very odd place with many streets laid out but only a handful of houses build; most of them abandoned and left for the graffiti artists. Of course, there is the famous Slab City which is bizarre. Anyway, it looks like a good spot for railfanning during the cooler months.
Yes during the cooler months.
Awesome video.. love this so much!
Thank you!
So far you have done GREAT Videos! Question: 1:29 4th or 5th engine, is something wrong with one of the trucks is is wiggling like nothing else.
It's calling hunting the rail or shimmy! Trucks are wore out and need to be replaced. 19 yr UP employee.
GREAT!!
Strangely this isn’t a video about the chunnel
More air for the turbos!
Curious if you get some assistance from the railroads on these videos. Basic stuff like schedules, origin and destination of the trains and maybe best places to be for filming. You never put out the exact times a train passes location x or have criticism of the railroads so it just seams logical they might help with some information.
Wow. This is just an amazing valley. Somehow I never knew about this, at 66!
And how do NS locos end up on the UP?
I am going to guess that the NS is actually owned by a 3d party and leased to UP.
Locos from other companies get everywhere and are often used by other companies. They have reciprocal arrangements so that if, like here, UP uses an Norfolk Southern engine, NS will then use a UP loco for a corresponding mileage
@@AndreiTupolev thanks
5:15must have been a power move; looked like only the first four units were online
26:44 that stack train with Evergreen containers came from the Mexican border as oppose to Yuma and points east further into the USA? That surprises me as I am not aware of UP containers being exchanged with what I presume to be Ferromex at the border.
I chased him north from Brawley and they tied the train down at Niland. I am not sure what direction, the train was heading on the Yuma Sub.
@@7ideaproductions That's really strange. So based on that, this train could have been heading east towards Yuma or west towards Los Angeles. Quite odd as I don't associate the line to Mexico as one handling double stacks.
And I wonder how Mecca got its name 🤔
Do you know how much Union Pacific or BNSF charge UPS and FedEx ground to transport a container full of packages.
I'm surprised that Indio hasn't been renamed again by now ..
Hopefully that doesn't happen. Cool name for a town.
At 1:40 there's a couple lazily placed containers, the heck?
Those are trailers.
do the locomotives produce more power due to the low elevation?
Yes they do just like going over the mountains with the thin air reduces HP
Did y’all catch the Sunset Limited?
It was after dark when it passed. We did see it later near Tuscon, but that will be a different video.
If the Sunset Limited is on time, it passes through the Coachella Valley after midnight, so not a great photo op.
Why doesn't Union Pacific ever wash their locomotives?
Washing locomotives adds nothing to the bottom line. It's only an expense with no direct return. These days the EPA wants railroads to capture the wash water, due to contaminants in the water, and dispose of it "properly." It can't be legally dumped onto the ground. It's another expense involved.
I’ve worked in Indio, an oasis?
Yeah that may not have been the best choice of words!
28:49 is that a scale? (Remains of)
Are you a up or bnsf fan
