I'm a history golf geek like this guy. This episode is a great show by Michael Wolf. I can't stop talking and explaining the timeline of the Augusta golf course The Masters and the remarkable story of Bobby Jones. I imagine in my apartment, people are sick of me talking their ears off, but I can't help myself.
I was born in Augusta and lived there in my early childhood. My dad still volunteers every Masters week and I've been lucky enough to go several years. I could not give less of a shit about the PGA or the LIV, or really golf in general. But man, the Masters tournament is such a triumph, such a special place. So beautiful.
My dad was from Augusta, he worked out there as bartender and served beers to Gene Sarazan among others. My grandparents lived off 13 and they bought all that land and flattened the houses for parking, so thats a bummer. I have been twice. Words can't describe it.
The best pimento cheese sandwich Is at Augusta National, wrapped in paper colored to match the color of the grass. Drink cups are the same color. I was told by a member this is intentional so if, god forbid, a wrapper or cup would blow in the wind, few would notice.
OFFICE HOURS name is already being used by Tim Heidecker, of Tim & Eric fame, for a streaming TH-cam show and pod. Actually thought this was a thumbnail for that show at first glance. Love the concept and execution of this video. Just confusing given the already established property. NLU is my fav golf content. hope you don’t get me wrong. Love all that you do!
When I was in MP school at Fort Gordon in 1964, Bobby Jones would call over to the General and request an MP on every hole. Being 19 and 20 we were like we are not going to get full dress and go stand in the heat all day, pretty stupid huh!. Sometime after that some one complained about Jones using military personnel and he stopped the process
you should check out Adare Manor in Ireland for some place comparable ( and i know the instant reaction is no , nowhere is comparable with Augusta ) They have it down to the grass types on the fairways and greens. Its gonna be a special Ryder cup venue in '27
Yeah yeah the app and the shot by shot tracker are great but neither make up for the lack of full live coverage for the first two days. In the UK we get 14 hours of live coverage of the Open every single day. Hopefully they'll pick the right featured groups on Thursday and Friday but there's no guarantee.
Have you written a book on this? If not you should! By the way who decided what constitutes a "major"? When did the Masters officially become one? Could TPC ever be one?!
Hey Michael, since you've been there you're able to answer. Rumor is there are no animals at Augusta...birds (noise is piped in on tv), squirrels, etc...nothing. Just a rumor?
Yah , but saying it's the most famous golf course in history? I say its third behind ST. ANDREWS, and Pebble Beach😊 plus if you. Plus if you could only choose one American Venue, I d choose pebble. Than maybe Phoenix or TPC Sawgrass
It sounds like the Masters get's rid of all the aspects I don't enjoy about going to a golf tournament. $16 for a beer? Not at Augusta. Lines for everything? Not at Augusta. Gross port-a-poties? Not at Augusta. You get the point.
Announcing the reaction of Cantlay and then taking more than 5 minutes in a video of 8 minutes before telling what the reaction actually was, qualifies as slow play on You Tube.....
14:58 ... wait. you don't think that there should be private property and private golf clubs? are you kidding me? so you think that anyone should be allowed to come into your home and make breakfast for themselves? where am I living? how do people grow up in America and entertain these ideas? news flash! the reason the place is so revered is BECAUSE it is private and exclusive, etc. you want to play a revered golf course that is open to the public? open your wallet, get on a plane and go play Pebble Beach. The once a year thing and the Masters doesn't really make sense to me. All golf tournaments are played once a year. The fact that the Masters does it once a year better than anyone else speaks to the beauty of the place and the field of players ... and of course the Bobby Jones aura. But it's really about the beauty of the grounds, which you covered. And also the "only players inside the ropes" which you covered. The place was made for video coverage. Very interested about Stoltz and the hurricane that wiped him out. Seems it was divine intervention.
I've always wondered why Augusta, Pine Valley, Baltusrol, Oakmont, Cypress, Merion, etc don't open their course to public for one day per year and run a lottery for foursomes. Can you imagine the benefit to charities they could generate from that type of lottery? A shame.
Shoutout to that Miami hurricane
There’s pretty much never a downside to a natural disaster in Florida
@@Scatterpattern lol. Some would say much of FL is a natural disaster
The drive by on Poosh was too good, this is fantastic content
That was unreal. One of the best drive-by’s I’ve seen
Okay, this is an AWESOME new content idea! LOVE these kinds of deep dives into golf lore!!!

BB killed it! Bring on more office hours. Great content as always team.
Very, very high quality piece here. Sincere thank you.

outstanding post! thanks so much.

Great video, thanks!

Love this feature.
Wow loved this - always loved the masters and theres never enough content on TV about its history and the finer details - More more!
Outstanding. The Rory/Succession pod and now this. Great work, gents.
Wow, loved this content! Great idea, NLU, and for those of use who love to just consume golf history, myths, and legends, this is perfect.
Well done! Already watched this twice!
Poosh daddy catching strays!
This was phenomenal. Keep it coming, fellas.
Such a good piece of content, great work Michael and the boys!
Awesome. Thank You!
I've never been to Augusta National, but I know that once I go I'm going to cry like a baby.

this is awesome in every way
Need to watch a Masters with him!
Watch party
Great work, per usual NLU!
Love this new series!
Amazing! I need more of these!
Michael: “It’s held on the most famous golf course in the world”
St Andrews enters the chat…
St Andrews now laughing at a course that was not even hosting a major until the 1960s. 😆
Love it. NLU is back!
Absolutely awesome. More of these please!
Wow!! Super excited for this series!! Been following Mr Bama for a long time and he has amazing stories to tell
Awesome story telling buddy.

awesome info. Thanks!
This is so awesome! Fire me up for the Masters!!
Love it.
Masters app/online viewing really is the best
Awesome content! Love this
"I can get Parallel in their shirts" idk why that made me laugh so hard.
Wow nice of NLU to produce some content!
I can get parallel! Hahaha! Love it. Give me ten
This was really well done and enjoyable. AND I just added The KutiMangoes to my list of bands to check out. Well done, team.
I'd watch 4 hours of BB talking about all of the books he has in his library

That was a fun watch!
This is good stuff, especially for golf sickos like myself! Thank you :)
Well done Wolfy!
Great video but I have multiple questions regarding their tree spacing…
Elite. Up there w/ Tourist Sauce, Strapped, & Film Room
Great video though!
Mentioned the books will be on a list posted here? Did that not happen or did I miss it??
Poosh cameo. Iration n NLU 👍
Great video
More Bama Bearcat. Please. Thanks.
Poosh over here catching strays by the newbie 😂
NEED MORE
I just poked my head in to ask Professor Wolf if he’d heard they moved the 13th tee back and this is how he responded.

Sounds like Bobby Jones was the Anthony Kim of golfing balls
Fleetwood hotel was named after tommylad reportally
So what are the best books. No show notes

The worst part of Augusta is I'll never have the chance to play there 😢
“I can get parallel in their stuff”
Bring back the parade!
I thought it was the Masters cuz it usesd to be a plantation and very special rules regarding caddies
I’m literally here in the first minute!!!
So thats what bamabearcat looks like
Why are we comparing Bobby Jones to Anthony Kim?
It sounds like the Masters get's rid of all the aspects I don't enjoy about going to a golf tournament. $16 for a beer? Not at Augusta. Lines for everything? Not at Augusta. Gross port-a-poties? Not at Augusta. You get the point.
Was loving the video until the holderness and Bourne interruption
Bobby Jones was such an overachiever, jeez.
Thumbs down
