We’re building fence to keep out machete gangs after finding dead body

  • IT was once a thriving hub of the community and recently used as a filming location for a hit ITV drama.
But the acting secretary of a working men’s club in the Harehills area of Leeds has revealed they’ve been forced to sell off the plot to fund a new security fence in a desperate attempt to keep out violent gangs and drug users.
The Sun visited the blighted suburb last week, after a spate of gangland-style stabbings and murders left people fearing for their safety.
Harehills Labour Club’s acting secretary Dave Ewart, 69, told us the club grounds - where ITV filmed scenes for its Yorkshire Ripper drama The Long Shadow - have been abused by people “coming in un-invited to the site…defecating and leaving drug paraphernalia”.
“We had to get a specialist removal company in as your normal rubbish removal company won’t touch needles. That cost us £750,” Dave said.
“This is a dying industry, we are trying to prolong it as long as we can.
“In order to raise funds we have now sold the land, and they will be our landlord.
“As part of that deal we are currently putting a £25,000 fence around the venue - we would not have been able to afford to do that on our own.
“Until this point it has always been completely open. We have an outside drinking area and grounds but this is always abused.
“At one point there was a man camping here… one morning we even had a dead body.
“We suspect it was the man who had been sleeping in the tent and he’d died of some drug-related problem but we never found out.
“People use us as a cut-through and once we had a man being chased by another with a machete across our grounds. It’s not great for our area or the community.
“The real shocking thing is that we’re not shocked by what we see anymore.”
Harehills Labour Club was established in 1968 and opened by Labour MP Denis Healey.
In its heyday it had a membership of 1,200, but this has now dwindled to around 600.
It remains a relic to the 1970s, with traditional working men's club decor and a bar which serves Boddingtons bitter and John Smith's ale on draft.
The lounge area of the club acted as the inside of The Gaiety pub in nearby Chapeltown for The Long Shadow and was where actress Katherine Kelly, who played victim Emily Jackson, did most of her scenes.
The grand concert room is a massive venue but will only get half full on a busy night. Weekend acts range from Dolly Parton and Take That tribute bands to comedians.

No them looting the wealth of diverse lands and inviting the “commonwealth” over to exploit them is what built Britain. @@fanfeck2844 Technically speaking you don’t have open doors per say. It’s actually quite hard to come here legally. There’s many hoops one has to jump through and maybe rightly so. What people are upset about is the illegal migration and lack of satisfactory border control. Why should skilled people who do jobs that British people don’t want to do, be penalised for the sins of those that came here illegally?

So generation after generation of children given a broken comprehensive/academy education that barely meets the minimum national curriculum. They also didn’t go round hacking people to death in broad daylight and dealing drugs openly on the streets.
They’ve created this third world area themselves, council cools spend every penny of its budget there and it would be back to square in months.
Don’t tar the whole of Leeds and everyone living there the same, there’s many hardworking people that do not live or wish to live like this.

Starting to happen everywhere. Burton on Trent, small town, close knit community... but not any more. My street has virtually zero native English now. On its's own its not a problem, but every week there are now TONS of household waste dumped on the street, cars that are parked in the street are regularly damaged, by collisions by other vehicles or just deliberate criminal damage. No one talks to each other, no one knows their neighbours. For example, My neighbour of several years moved out due to ill health. A family from some unknow, but east European country (based on what I heard from them talking) rented the property (I work with many such people and have a great time with them) but the first time I saw the male, I said hello... he ignored me. Then just a few days ago, I was locking my front door as his missus walked behind me and started to unlock their front door, I said hello and smiled... She Scowled and just walked inside the house. What am I to think. This is my land, where I grew up and people with no connection or more importantly, interest in me or this land are taking over! This is NOT racism, or even toxic nationalism. IT's a reaction any reasonable person would expect from any person, in ANY country under the same circumstances!

So basically, it's back to square one for normal law abiding working class people. You get no help from councils and 'authorities' because they're run as for profit corporations and they couldn't care less. That's not to say there aren't people who do care, because there are, but they're working in a system which has no strategy to handle this.
Therefore, ordinary sovereign men and women need to realise the truth that the people are the law, the people are sovereign and the people have the natural right to improve their own area and living standards without having to beg for it from a corporate entity like local 'government' and their kin.
So when it comes time to vote, send all of these councillors and MP's a message by collectively refusing to vote for any of them, and instead install local champions from the people who actually get things done because they are from the area and care about the area. Let them be the councillors and MP's that *the people* choose to represent them.
