'Cotswold Festival of Steam' 2023 | Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway 14th May 2023

After an enjoyable weekend on the cushions at the Swanage Railway 'Diesel & Beer Festival' we popped into the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway's annual Steam Gala, 'The Cotswold Festival of Steam'.
Held slightly earlier than usual (over the 12th-14th of May), the event would feature 5 guest engines, starring 4079 'Pendennis Castle' and L&Y 'Pug' 11243 both continuing their respective tours of the UK post overhaul. BR Standard 4MT 75014, 2MT 78019 and Maunsell U Class 31806 completed a packed guest line up.
Alongside the star visitors, resident GWR Hall 7903 'Foremark Hall' was renamed for the event to scraped classmate 6999 'Capel Dewi Hall' to help commemorate the famous 'Z48 Ian Allen Tour' of 1964. Both 'Capel Dewi Hall' and 'Pendennis Castle' took up roles during the railtour, and this was recreated in the week leading up to the Gala.

The sun was typically in and out all day and despite some late running, it was an enjoyable afternoon at the railway with some excellent company as always. Hope you enjoy!
