Motocross Action Magazine tests Mike Alessi's ESR Yamaha YZ325 Two Stroke at Glen Helen Raceway. Mike qualified for the Monster Cup Supercross with this bike. The only two-stroke to qualify for any kind of Supercross event in probably over a decade or more. The ESR 325cc powerplant. You won’t believe the affordable price to big bore your smoker. Josh Mosiman had a fun time riding the ESR big bore. The power was spread out and incredibly smooth. Check out what the Motocross Action Wrecking crew thought of Mike Alessi's bike at Glen Helen Raceway in Southern Calfornia.

Im a simple man. I see two strokes, i click like.
Me too greasy side down pimpin lol
That there is a fantastic looking bike....Yamaha in yellow my favorite
black, grey and yellow colorway is always dope
Right on Mike for helping keep the 2 stroke world alive ✌️
I'm a rider, but I gave up on Motocross racing many years ago when it all went 4-stroke.....never owned one.... it's a 2-stroke game and needs to get back to it.....love this bike !!
its about to be a Ebike game 😢
Have you not rode a 4-stroke before? Because if not, once you get used to that 4-stroke you'll see why the sport went virtually all 4-stroke. That is, despite the environmental impact.
@@dealspeed6756 .... They will have their own circuit it won't be mixed with gas power...
@@iandaniel5213 .... I am a Motocrosser and freestyler for 20-plus years.... It went four stroke for EPA regulatory reasons only.... Believe me the manufacturers and the market did not want it..... It was facilitated by the AMA....
I owned two YZ250's ,an F and a 2T back in 05. Just to see what my mates and every other bastard on earth was bangin on about , but I always enjoyed the two stroke more. So I sold the four stroke and lived happily ever after. But it took more than a decade of resistance before the tide started coming back again. You were a bit of a crank sticking with the two strokes but that suited me fine.
Glad to see Mike still out there racing! Best Holeshotter ever
Ya because his brother had a laser point .....
1st to last
Better than Doug Dubach or Donnie "holeshot" Hansen?
Best cheater ever. Worst sportsman ever.
So glad Alessi and his F’d up family are off the racing scene
Finally 2 strokes
We gotta keep buyin em NEW as much as we ALL can! So they keep building & improving them!! I'm gonna grab '21 YZ125 or '21 KTM 125SX in March.
@@davidklimmek3192 Yamaha will never update the YZ the guys who designed their 2 strokes have left or retired almost 2 decades ago when they switched to four strokes like Honda. They keep casting parts as they can still make a profit but none of that will go to an updated 2t. Either buy Ktm or hope Yammy will keep tossing simple bolt-ons to their vintage Yz's.
@@robfn Well that's a perspective I hadn't thought of! May go w/the KTM anyhow ..i try steer clear of all Asian machines. My trucks always American..my bikes can be European!✌👍
GasGas and Fantic coming with them 2021 2 pingers
@@robfn Fantic has a partnership with Yamaha, they are doing something with it so thats positive
Long live the 2 stroke!!
A great vid about an amazing bike! BIG thanks to everyone at MXA for this one. LONG LIVE THE 2STROKES!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you dig it Josh! We are pumped on it too!
For where two Joshes gather in the name of two strokes, there the Holeshotty Spirit is with them.
i cant imagine how that feels.. insane amount of power
The forests of British Columbia know me and my YZ250's name. And with each passing gust of wind, we bow to the king of grace...
lol
You know that smoker has gobs of torque to pull a 15/50 sprocket ratio.
I have 15-44 with 125 yz. Does 140kmh/86mph with 17" supermoto wheels
@@EbaJJ hell ya that's ripping on a 125. Odd sprockets gearing for me never went that direction on any bikes I've rode. What were the original numbers sprockets#s and top speed? Thanks for answering if you can. PS. Afterthought how do you get you're mph or speed numbers? GPS or another way please explain. I use a small Garmin car GPS and mount it to my handlebars and with GPS I know it's accurate the speed GPS on three different apps and phones are always off sometimes by 10mph so I don't even try those anymore.
@@caseyanderson7600 original sprockets were 13-52 if i remember right and it does something like 63mph/100kmh. I use google maps gps and it shows only +-1 wrong.
@@EbaJJ ⁰⁰⁰
@@EbaJJ 86 really? That’s not bad for a 125 idk what sizes I’m running on my yz250 has stock 19 inch rim tho an with gps + buddy riding along in car tops out at 80ish dude I bought it from raced motocross so probably a sprocket setup for mx
The opening shots got me to reminiscing.... It was around 1990, and I was racing 250 intermediate class at Mammoth Mountain. Ted Boyesen was in my class. I think it was moto 2. Anyway, he and I had met earlier that day, because his bike was the crispest, fastest bike I'd ever seen there. He had his jetting perfect, and all the extra goodies which made his bike a rocket. He probably holeshot both motos, but I wouldn't know because my bike was way low on power and by the time I got to the top of the start hill, I was toward the back; from 30th to last place. But I battled to the front and Ted was there, running somewhere in top 5. I banzai'd the big downhill to gain back the time he pulled going UP that damned long hill, and then also gained on him in the next few turns. I was pulling up alongside him to pass in some whoops when he swapped hard, and he would have wrecked except his rear end caught my front and knocked me sideways so hard I instantly body planted into those whoops myself. But his hitting me saved him from crashing, and he went on to finish somewhere near the front. I didn't catch back up after that, as it was a hard wreck which rocked me and I'm pretty sure bent my bars and probably broke a lever. I don't exactly recall though.
But I do remember that Ted Boyesen was a really nice guy, and I've always wished I could be mad at him for that because it ruined my dream of winning or placing in the top at Mammoth. And he totally took me out!! ;-). I could only afford one financial splurge like that per year to do something like go to Mammoth to race. So that really was a huge bummer for me. But that's racing. And on the other hand, I'm glad that my being there, in the perfect spot for Ted to swap into, kept him from having a very rough crash himself. I just wish I'd been about 2-3 feet further ahead, so neither of us would have crashed.
I never got to see him again after that.
YZ325 Two Stroke I love two strokes two strokes!! Manufacturers need to start building two strokes again 125-250-500 a gate full of highly tuned, race gas running 125 or 250 or 500 two strokes with the smell premix in the air.!! Brrraaapp!! Baaa, baaa, baaaaaaa!!! Send messages to the manufacturers to start building two strokes again 125-250-500 !!!
@Dobbies Revenge not all brand!
Thats unbelievable.......if i was blessed enough to ave one of them..... Id be going out to the garage evey 10mins just to look at it..... I even did that with my crf250r when i first got it lol!!
Get these 2 strokes back to main stream!!! Awesome work
What a machine!!! 💪 2 stroke forever!!
been waiting for some more two stroke action!!
I've been waiting for this one
Mike please bring this to the Canadian Nationals, we love 2 strokes.
Mike still has that Flow. Be cool to see footage of him racing vet events. Cool Build !
that bike is sic!!! Eddie Sanders (ESR) is a two stroke genius, his engines rip!
Bultaco built a 325 back in the 70’s had a vulnerable exhaust competitive with the 500’s though .
I've got one, '71 Bultaco Pursang Mk5 350, actually 326 with stock bore. And yes low pipe as most were back then. About 33 hp. The 350 Astro that year had 50 hp, different cylinder porting and chamber, still only 10:1 compression.
It’s good to see the elessis still in it.
Oh! How I love that sound!...
GOOD TO SEE U BACK OUT ON A BIKE, one that’s SAF!!!
That thing rips 🤙🏻. Super cool bike. Built to perform.
What a nice looking 2 smoke that is absolute beautiful build
Michael Mosiman, it is such a TREAT ti watch a national level Pro riding a 2 stroke. BRAAAAP
Dream bike right there one day maybe one day.......
love the shake of a smoker , neat bike.
What a beast 😳2 stroke gang💯
Sweet bike!!! 2 stroke for life!!!
Wow!... That Things a Rocket. Thanks for Sharing
this is so good i could shine a laser in someones eye
Awesome bike, I like that dep pc silencer lol
That's a sweet looking bike
Looks sick in yellow and black.
That thing is sick!!
Awesome looking build. Looks like he’s having a blast out there
Steel liner? haven't seen steel line cylinders since the 70's. The exhaust pressure activated power valve is very interesting. Can this mod be made for every 2 stroke? That would be a great mood too add.
Been done for years
"even at 32"! Geez mate, as a 32 year old I can speak for all of us when I say - we aren't old or dead!
well, you must have at least a small collection of grandchildren, by now?
Well at 32 in mx u retire at around 27 u get signed at 16 short careers for these fellas
Do you ride at a top pro's level?? Have you been training for more than half of your life for this???? Day in and day out? Lol naw, don't think so.. so "32" is on the older side of a pro motocross, not the average weekend warrior.
@@assman199491 thanks captain obvious. Never would've figured thats what he meant. I made a light hearted comment - relax
@@whyzed250 - make a stupid statement, get a stupid answer
I love two strokes two strokes of the greatest because people that don't know how to ride them don't understand them another best in the world my name is Johnny Young
Gotta be the best sound on earth
I used to have a 1996 Yz250 the shock and the forks were perfect never had to change it was so fast bone stock it rippt. I still own the Yz 125 that I bought in 1998. It has a set of 2001 Yz250 shock and springs and 150 cheeter kit and ported with 250 stock springs are awesome just take the 125 rip it around like an 80.
Mike Alessia , King of the blue flag.
I was intrigued by the size of the motor (325 cc) and expected the vibration. Would have liked to hear more about how the engine pulled for different size/expertise riders. Sounds strong. I would have liked to get a squint at the innovative power valve.......those damn things are always dirty and it sounded like this wasn't a problem. I still like the yellow on Yams....wish they were still that color.
Try a Maico 700
Getting famous off of comments day 121 so I can live the dream, live every day like it’s your last🤙
One sick machine sweet jesus
Awesome build perfect size motor perfect size bike incredible machine 325 two-stroke killerbike awesome race bike.
Keepn it REAL! ❤️🤙✌️😎
Very good video and great bike! Two stroke!!!
Yamaha YZ325 nice sir.. good for off-road in my province
Absolutely sick. Watch out KTM
My thoughts and opinions have changed of the Alessis much more humble and respectful nowdays
ESR is the bomb...they got some nice trx 250r goodies and casts his own cylinders.
My dream bike!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iv got a late model YZ 250 ,lectron carb,FMF full system and its plenty for me ,lots of sandy forest or mud bog Forest riding or open farm riding here in New Zealand, its a beast and is my talent level and iv grown up with 2 strokes and just like them compared to a dam 450 that drains the energy and fun out of you when you ride them
Pretty clever move there Mike… I see you with the oversized front break 👍
Looks legit like a RM250 with those plastics. Get some blue/white and black on that thing and it will have the looks to match the bad ass performance.
I WANT ONE
2:37 - goood goood goood, goood vibratioooooons!
32 years old and still racing motocross??? The guy is amazing. Did did use a walker to get to the bike?
Fancy being that old, poor devil.
you just cracked me up Mr. 64
Those are great bikes in stock form would like to ride that beast..
That is one nice looking bike!
LONG LIVE THE 2 STROKE.
fill the bars with silicone. I ran a cr500 in a laeger 250r chassis and it helped a lot. Without a counter balancer most everything was rubber mounted....but filling the bars with silicone was the cherry on top.
Good idea! Thanks for the info. The cr500 rattles like He*L
Beautiful bike
How a good person gift me this bike ❤️
Shure I’ll mail it too you.
Such a beauty! Sounds just like a 500 too
It's getting hard to find motocross mags in most stores!
One suggestion....more vintage rebuilds on the older 2strk with a shootout
SO COOL OF COLOUR ...😎😎
sick yz250 i love mine i wana get that r tech plastic and tank
I have a cr450 front brake on my kx250 and it’s been the best front brake ever
awesome
Just awesome 😎
Wow just wow nice bike
Dmm power and traction seem so positive.
Thank you Mr. Hoshot!!!
Test rider looks like they were getting some nice lap times, damn
That thing sounds soooo crisp idling. Awesome bike!
At time 1:38 .. That is a cool looking bike , love the yellow ! Love the forks !
Why can't they make bikes like this ? wow , I wish I had that bike.
Change the head to yellow.
If only Yamaha would balance their bottom end.
The only problem I found is with the ESR 325 kit, they only list it for 1999-2019 bikes. What about the newer yamaha ?
Great informative video!!
I think Yamaha should do an limited edition YZ with the retro yellow plastic and graphics.
yes!
Yeahhh plrase 325 2 stroke ooooo baby
U guys should test ronnie macs cr250
fuck yeah!
I'd like to have a 325 YZ with just an HD clutch but with the pipe, reeds and the rest of what makes it run right. But i would hit the dunes with a paddle tire with it.
Where are the laser pointers
Lol. Love that they throw on a 15yo front brake (love my 2005 crf450r ).
I love two strokes
I remember him as a kid riding ktm back the day.
Awesome build!
I love motorcross but I don't have a dirt bike ❤️😔 this is my one of my dream
Mx action should do more minis
Impiang aing😌
Lol rekluse clutch, i got one in my 09 ktm 530exc full race preped and a 570 big bore kit it's a animal
Complete with laser pointer and boots with bigger soles to step on competitors bikes. It's tough to get on board with anything Alessi is part of no matter how good it is
It’s beautiful
Were is the laser pointer???? You know for starts.....
Im sure jeff was hiding out there somewhere lol
What’s a laser pointer for? Did he use them in comps before?
Jeff , mikes little brother was shining a lazer in riders eyes at washugal one year
RV moved on you should too..
Hey Josh....did you happen to hear “while chewin’ the fat” afterwards what HP should be expected with all the mods shown? And also....never mind any haters in the comments about the big bore “cheater bike”... They are just pissed they have to walk around with a half chub for the next 20 minutes after watching you rip that thing around Glen Helen. Hell...the sound alone made me twist a nipple and start looking to see if anyone was home! Lmao! J/k 😅. But one thing is for sure... that sound IS one if the most sexiest sounds the Moto Gods gave us mortals! Love the vid bro! Oh yea...HP?
79whp?
345 is 63 hp
@@cecilforbes3034 There is more power if you run high octane fuel and higher compression...
