This is one of the most shocking, heart-in-your-throat scenes in GH history! I don’t think there was a person watching who didn’t feel like throwing up!

As a mother of three, believe me, there are worse.

No. Michael's action falls under self-defense and this sentence is unrealistic and unlawful. There's nothing else Michael could have done in his situation.
Also, who honestly thinks that prison rehabilitates people? And the judge is incorrect about Michael being of the age of majority; he was 17 and this is set in New York, where the age of majority is 18.

I stopped watching GH long before this storyline, so I don't know the back story. The account of what happened to Michael in prison seems a little far-fetched, though. Yes, he could have expected abuse due to his relationship with Sonny, but just how powerful is Sonny, if the inmates had so little fear of him that they felt safe brutalizing his son? And rape? Honestly? Michael was convicted of involuntary homicide, not a sexual crime--the writers must have been following the usual prison stereotypes, which my prison guard father enjoyed telling me when I was a kid as a kind of warning. I just find it hard to believe rape would be included in the kind of bullying he could expect in prison. (I don't believe a high-security prison would be his destination for this crime, either, not if his lawyer was competent.)

He was raped because of a personal vendetta against Jason. He was targeted to hurt Jason specifically.

My heart can't stand to see this seen of Michael for a 3rd time and not cry! And all I thought of Dante's right about Michael being a victim of prison because of Sonny s doings of his passed... Either way of looking at this situation, it's not a fair court decision by the Judge to provide a deception decision of 5 years in prison .... That judge knew what he was doing & what was going to happen to Michael from the beginning. Michael got hurt and raped and his life shattered and his pride taken away in a second just like that! I blame that Judge more than anybody, i don't blame sonny Carly Jason Diana who was trying to help micheal in the first place... Love support and trying to help matters over the law any danm day of the week! ...i don't care what that Judge said from the first time I seen this to this time... My opinion hasn't changed one bit... My heart feels for Michael in this giving moment! And as a mom to Carly her tears said it all!

He should have been put in some kind of protective custody in prison--and maybe it's possible Sonny had "people" on the inside who could have helped him; Sonny may be "loveable," but he's a criminal, he should know people in and out of prison, why didn't he use them? Regardless, despite the tragedy of whatever happened to Michael (I stopped watching this show more than a decade ago), the fact is he committed a crime and had to pay for it. The judge was absolutely right.

I definitely would blame Franco. It's Franco's fault for what happened to Michael.

@@nolanboles8492 No, what Michael did falls under self-defense and defense of others. In reality, he would not go to prison.
