The VP40 is the .40 S&W model of the acclaimed VP pistol line first introduced in 2014 with the VP9 (9 mm).
In development for more than four years, the VP Series is Heckler & Koch’s latest handgun and the first striker fired HK since the renowned P7 series pistols were introduced in the 1980s.
Experience gained by HK engineers with the P30 pistol had a direct influence on the design of the VP, but the VP Series breaks new ground with its integration of a unique striker firing system with an enhanced HK “light pull” trigger. The net result is trigger quality unequaled in any production striker fired handgun.
I have a VP9 and I love it! I placed a VP40 on layaway yesterday at my local gun shop. I will have it paid off within the month, if not sooner to be honest. I cannot wait!
I sincerely hope that a "c" or "sk" variant is in the works for the VP series.
This is an outstanding gun no doubt the molded grooves on the front straps feel so good on the fingers the nitride slide just like other HK handguns is corrosion resistant and is good for all types of environments the trigger pre travel feel is very light I shot this gun in 9mm felt very short as for the take up much better then a lot of striker fired guns awesome job guys 👌🏻
Can I just say that a 10mm or a .357 sig on the HK45 frame would be fantastic? Because it would be EVEN BETTER THAN A VP10!

I would happily commit to buying a VP357 or a VP10 but for now I guess I will settle for the barrel conversion hkparts is working on... Still very excited though, just need another few hundred for another gun and a barrel!

No one was bashing the .40 - just that a 10 mm would be great, and I have to agree. My glock 20 is a fantastic gun and I'm sure that the HK VP10 ( see what I did there ) would be fabulous.

Hey buddy you should get the VP 40 and you can buy the 357 sig Barrel it's made by hi believe it or not I got mine at a pawn shop for 550 and everything you needed 357 shelf for me hard to find it's a hit and mess to find them but soon as you get one you won't let it out of sight trust me you will fall in love with it I also have the VP 9

I'm wondering on users experience on whether I should go for the VP40 or the USP 40. Was the VP series designed around the .40 cartridge or the 9mm and just added the .40? I'm looking for something heavy duty, no preference on striker fire vs hammer fired. Thanks.

Love my VP9 and my new VP40. The VP40 is my new EDC. Got a second one inbound for the house. Please make some extended mags (VP and HK45) so I can sell off the rest my Glock house guns and replace them with VP40s. I'd be in for a VP45T w threaded barrel as well. :)

Its a good gun but its very difficult to find a good holster for carrying appendix carrying iwb.

There's so many of us that love the 40, but you're only giving the VP9 aftermarket support such as the compensator. No love for the VP40

adan hernandez No. However, you may be able to swap the barrel + slide between VP9/40, much like other HK's. Not sure, still waiting on mine.
Just snagged a VP40. I gave up my trusty Glock 23 for it. I don't think I will be dissapointed. I'm heading to the range this morning to give it a workout. ;)
Chrisman Harrison Well, at least you got a much better looking pistol compared to the Glock though I'm confident it will be just as reliable.
I just used it to complete my CCW training in Michigan after I just moved here. It performed flawlessly and was extremely accurate. I'm glad I made the upgrade. I still love my Glocks, but the HK is outstanding. The Glock is gorgeous in a simplistic, rugged kind of way. The HK is pretty badass looking and the point of aim, plus the low bore axis makes it a great shooter. Totally satisfied with it!
Chrisman Harrison Make sure you take care of it from the early stages and use good lubes. Look into the videos on TH-cam for Weapon Shield. I use that for lube or Lucas Assembly Lube which is a thicker kind of oil used for building motors. If you are storing a gun for a long period of time, look into CorrosionX. General cleaning, use BreakFree CLP. I have some videos on my channel about which one does the best for anti-corrosion protection. Weapon Shield did their videos on anti-friction.

+Chrisman Harrison As a lefty, weapons that are more "lefty-friendly" like the HK's, M&P's and FNX's etc., are more appealing to me. Ruger just came out with a "lefty-friendly" piece that I'm considering snagging as well. However, I just bought my first Glock....the Gen 4 Glock 19. While I like it and actually carrying it as my CCW at the moment, IT IS NOT my H&K VP9 or H&K P30sk. Wow! What a difference!
The H&K's are on a whole different level man! Their price is not an issue with me but their "lefty-friendly" features (i.e. ambidextrous slide lock and magazine releases) are second to none! I plan on picking up that VP40 and the 45 compact to add to my collection. I've often stated that; "A gun chooses you; you don't choose a gun!" The Heckler and Koch brand of gun chose me and I'm sticking with it! Lol!
