As someone who's sunk thousands of hours into CoH, I can assure you that this is nothing like it. I really want this game to be a success (I play the TT AoS and am fully invested in the setting), but there are some mechanics that just don't make for a good RTS game - one of the main aspects of any RTS game is making sure your units are fighting in the correct matchups, but in RoR, as soon as any unit engages in melee they either fight to the death or retreat. This makes picking the correct matchups near impossible when units are bunched together. You cannot choose who to battle, they just start fighting whatever the first unit they bump into is, and if that happens, there's no way to reposition them. You just retreat all the way back to your base or fight to the death. Coupled with this is that AoE attacks are absurdly strong, making ranged units in general infinitely easier to prioritise the correct targets. You end up with melee units sole job being to tie units up while your ranged units do all the work. Their AoE attacks blow everything away and your opponent can't even reposition them. I appreciate the attempt at something different but its just shallow. It's far, FAR closer to DoW 3 than CoH, and we all know how successful that was....
Love the look of this. Seems like a definite buy for me, been looking for a new RTS for awhile and don't like AOE/SC style basebuilding so seems perfect.
I wouldn't say it's slow paced but it's not very impressive compared to what battles were in DoW 2 (explosions, laser, hundred of bullets). I don't feel the "epicness".
Very heavy Company of Heroes vibes that I'm really enjoying ^^
And, man, the art team already nailed the sound effects and heft of the Stormcast!

"Welcome to the -Dawn of War- Realms of Ruin tutorial."
18:00 Sure sure, you didn't know what to do, you totally weren't lulling into a false sense of security with a clever feint...
I'm still waiting to get more news about the solo campaign, i'm not into pvp.
Janet! Love your content, your voice, your genuine and goofy commentary.
Looking forward to seeing more Realms of Ruin content from you!
Thanks for showing this.
And that is why JOO is no longer showing MP, it's just too easy :)
GG WP
Haha, yes let’s say that’s why :P
YEAAAAAAAH

So node sitting but no base building?
Battlesector Orks when?!
GG
UI elements and general feel, or discomfort is kinda DOW3 which... isn't a really great thing.
Looks pretty slow paced, when compared to DoW 1&2. But fun enough. Imma try the Beta. Thanks for the headsup!

For Sigmar!!!
*_SIGMARINES! FOR GOD-EMPEROR SIGMAR!_*
@@oldmanramblingatclouds *God-King* You heretic.
This game looks great, the UI is god awful however.
Thanks Janet. The game looks cheep, like a bad copy of the WoW movie and gams. It needs a lot of work, hope it is not over 25$.
Well you're talking about the Warhammer license, so it's not gonna be cheap.
Cheap what ? A fantasy game combat is all about melee, magic, skill
