f-14 is a great 4th gen fighter not to dis the f-18 but i also wish the f-14 was still in use
@@auryason3814I highly doubt that’s the case, the F-14 killed more of its own pilots than it killed other enemy bandits. This was because it was notoriously unreliable. The F-18 on the other is probably the safest plane in the USA armed forces besides maybe the F-35.

Great flying but this was a tad too ambitious. Try this again but with AIM-120B's or arm the Flankers with older missiles like the R-27ER and R-77.
The tomcat never carried the aim-120. Only testing was conducted.
I was under the impression that it could at least carry the early versions of the AMRAAM but I guess I was mistaken in this regard. Then the alternative would indeed be to just outfit the opposing Flankers with older missiles. Thanks for the correction.@@mickobrien4619

Bears are extremely fast turboprop planes, and can reach speeds of up to Mach 0.86 at altitude.

One thing about the Phoenix missile whatever it hit it completely destroyed usually the pilot and all didn't know what hit em it was big as an anti ship missile nearly... Which speaks volumes about the tom cats they could still maneuver with the best of em even loaded with those huge Phenix missiles on board

OK, if the mission was to defend against the bombers why didn't you engage them at long range with the Phoenix missiles? It's what they are for really. It seems like you could have splashed them pretty easily then worried about the fighters. Or with the mission accomplished even just run away from the fighters. Am I missing something here?

So what if you had gone after the Bears from the get-go, accepting that the Flankers would probably kill you anyway? Or actually have a second F-14 and see if one could divert the Flankers while the other gets the Bears?
I don’t think the missiles would have reached them, as they were cold and running away.
A second f14 would have been very helpful

Always loved the Jolly Roger tail on the F-14... the AA wing was originally Forrestal but this clearly is afterwards as I think the Jolly Rogers flew off of maybe Saratoga with VF-103 and the Jolly Roger tail and AA wing designation?

Well... the good take away is that we are no longer flying F-14s with Phoenix missiles anymore to combat newer enemy fighters. lol I think next vid should show off the Raptor to redeem our might. Mission failure but still a great vid as always.

Can you do an modern updated tutorial on how you set these missions up? I'd like to set up some basic 1v1s for different aircraft against different aircraft but the editor is complex as heck.

the F14 was basically the F22 of its time though, the Sparrows were no slouch and I'm sure we could have fixed/trained better on the AIM54's but the mere presence of F14's kept our carrier fleet safe. Horrible way to drop bombs though lmao
