That’s true lol. I do like the materials they used and the window is cool “when it’s clean” but just wish they kept hexagonal grills and alien head power button, then it would be perfect for me. seeing it from open lid keyboard side just looks like a basic dell laptop so that’s what’s kinda kills it for me. Hopefully on the next gen’s they’ll have it plus an oled screen, just hope my m17r4 lasts until then
Awesome updates! Love the designs, uniqueness! I love their designs, high quality! I love that fan having glass cover! I love when I carry around at my work it looks awesome from both sides. Thank you Alienware!
no waisting money on a stupid design and a glowing light you can see under the skin instead of adding actual things that would increase performance like adding vents on the sides and back pad to increase cooling when it's at home being used and you want the lid closed we can't even close the laptop?????
I hope the alienware laptop have to have an option to upgrade to oled the screen. Oled is the way to go. Laptop is gorgeous, please alienware gives the option to upgrade to oled in your website; I'd rather pay more for an oled than a qled.
@@Lorta21 T @Lorta21 Things change, times change, style changes. It's not 1996, 2010, 2015, etc.. The design is clean and modern. These aliens have simplified and modernized their design. I'd call Dell's XPS desktops cookie-cutter. This doesn't look cookie-cutter to me. Sure, it's not the most creative I've seen, but with mass-produced products, the builders often consider a wider audience and current trends. You can always build your own rig if you don't like it or buy something else. But a lot of competitors also look somewhat understated in design in 2025. HP Omens are going for a cleaner more simplified look too. Personally I prefer something that doesn't scream I am a gamer, but still has some playful mature design aspects. But my perspective is one of a person in their 50's who actually grew up with Alienware and believes change is inevitable. The great thing is there is a lot of choice out there.
@ to each their own. Alienware was making unique designs unlike everyone else back then as well when they were making "normal" looking PCs. And plus I can't just build my own laptop. I like Alienware just not where they are now. I think they could n have done more with the design while keeping it "clean" looking. Remember, everyone has their own opinions to share and every one has their own taste.
Alienware oh my .i still got the alienware 17 with 860m video card ...though its outdated i can still play most of the game i want with mid graphic setting...you cant go wrong with this brand when it comes to durability
I really hope you all upgraded the monitor on the 18" laptop this time. If you put another substandard display again I will be so disappointed. BTW ASUS updated their monitor again on their 18" which was already far better than yours.
Number of PCI-E slots? Looks like 1x 5.0 and 2x 4.0. I suspect the 5.0 is dedicated to the video card. No one wants low-fidelity on-board audio that's buzzing with all that LED nonsense, so luckily there's a lower slot for a network and sound card.
As mostly satisfied X17 R2 user, cautiously looking for an upgrade - I like crazy 280w power + better cooling, but the rest of it is just design gimmicks... Where's my Ethernet port (yes, I'm that old), where's 1000+ nit mini-LED screens?
I love how alienware if finally doing it right now we can just buy the cheap model lol and upgrade motherboard psu whatever we want but can still keep the case
Who thought it was a great idea to place a glass panel at the bottom of a laptop? 95% of the time, that laptop will be either on a lap or desk. No one is gonna suddenly lift up, and look at the glass enclosure in the middle of a gaming session.
The internals look nice but that is the most basic case ever 😢 did they forget what made Alienware standout? What i think is they should have two options a basic square case and maybe a limited edition actual alien looking case? Cmon guys get it together seriously….
The thing that differentiated Alienware computers in the past was the design. Now they look like the rest, so no point in buying one. I can just buy a case tha looks the same and build it myself.
New Alienware Monitor I expected for Display Port 2.1 also not 1.4 because selling high end gear like RTX5090 will use the new Display port. So no buying these with a RTX 5090 as my suggestion.
Top panel on laptop plain and boring nothing going on besides tiny alien head. Could have put in some sick alien ribs subtly molded into the aluminum top panel if you really wanted to pay homage to the A51 moniker. Same with the A51 desktop... just a beefed up aurora design nothing new aside from hardware. Blah

The desktop is going in quite the right direction, but so many things are still bad. Only 2 slots RAM, GPU looking plain and no hidden cable (like those GPU from ROG), ugly CPU cooler (that will look terrible since glossy surface tends to attract dust easily), lazy and boring case design (straight copy from Aurora 16)... So many to criticize, but welp let see how they turn out
I don't mind the look tbh. It's clean and simple and not trashy ultra mega gaming pc like (looking at you MSI). Being able to use (unless it's pr spin and they're lying) common parts and not be locked behind proprietary like previous pc's is a big step forward lol.
@@dodo19923 agree, it's their first year, so I don't expect much. next year i hope they improve interior design. And about the case, i'm saying they can probably do more but ig they have to experiment it first.

Perfect window to see all the dust in the fans

What's happening with their decision-making? Are they using AI to develop their products now?
It’s the fact the guy who started AW left; this new woman running it is a b-schooler not a gaming enthusiast…
What's wrong?
Most un alien looking area 51. I miss the triangle case so much
Was one of the trashiest heat stroke causing cases ever designed though
May not look as crazy as the triangle but looks super clean and ig plus for making it have room inside and full size mb is nice.
I agree, just a recycled aurora... god forbid Dell actually spends some money on new exciting products
I forgot about those. Seriously cool aesthetic back then, about ten years ago yeah?

No Mini-LED or OLED on premium gaming laptops in 2025 is ridiculous. Alienware failed here.
as usual. cheap plastic display panel as usual
One TH-camr said that the screen of one of the Alienwares was so dim that you needed a dungeon to use it. 💀

I like the A51 laptop design, its not screaming "HEY IM A GAMING LAPTOOOOOOOOOOPP" like the other brands design.
But that's what Alienware was all about and what made them stand out and unique. Not being a cookie cutter dull product like dell is known to make.
Bro....The moment I saw the design of This lappy....My first tht was....ok that's a gaming lappy!!

How about G, X and M series?
Were them canceled?
I would like an Alienware M16 R3. Clean, beauty and compact gamer notebook.
The M series are being replaced by the Area 51s, so the Area 51 16 is basically the M16 R3.
On the laptop : gotta love how they keep talking for ages about things nobody cares about but cant say a word about the actual screen ...
Looking more forward to the AMD X3d CPU laptops.
I have the Alienware BOOKBAG and Rolling Carryon.
I use them when I travel.
I wish they’d make a full sized suitcase.
I still like the old area 51m It came with white color. and the cpu gpu are upgradable
Alienware, give me a badass super widescreen gaming monitor!
What, they have three… I own one, OLED to boot…
