    I've had a Kona electric for 5 months, what a great car with personality unlike most cars today. I regularly get over 360 miles on a full charge, driving in eco mode, predominantly urban driving. I did a 300 mile round trip in the summer, I set out with 366 miles after a full charge and had 60 miles left at the end of the journey and that includes about 60% motorway driving and using intermittent Aircon. This is a great car, quite, economical, safe and with power when you need it, plus it has real character and makes you smile every time you drive it, excellent job Hyundai.

    I have the same Kona. I get 470 km range in the summer but 365 km range during the winter in Toronto where it can be - 10 to - 20 . I charge at home at $20 a month. I pickup my Kona up Oct 7, 2021 and almost a full year. No regrets. Love the money I saved on fuel.

    Have a 211 Kona 64Kwh. Usually get over 480km in the summer and 430km in the winter (Ireland).
    It was our first ever EV and love it. Only critique is the limited boot space and the back seat is suited for small kids (which we have).
    It is a great entry EV car but can definitely be your one and only too. A great long hauler with lots of guts to overtake traffic.
    I love how the comfort mode is really sporty while the sport mode is pure nuts. Well done Hyundai!

    Great review as always and actually a great car, I traded mine in for the Niro as the back and boot was a bit small, other than that it's great for range and town/city car, but all electrics are.

    Good review pretty much on the nail. Along with the e-Niro has extraordinary efficiency winter or summer and range that only Model 3 will better. Only big drawback was the small boot and lack of tow rating so you couldn't even put a bike rack on the earlier generation. Front Wheel spin a problem till you get used to it, its no slouch and significantly faster off the mark than others I've driven including the RWD ID4. It was a great first BEV for us, three years of care free long distance travelling. Saved us many €000s on diesel over 3 years. Dublin to Killarney at motorway speeds on a single charge no problem leaving home and arriving at the Lake Hotel with about 70km range still in the tank. Tesla range for half the price.

    • @NevoEVReviewIreland
      @NevoEVReviewIreland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Noel. As an onwer I appreciate what you have to say about it. I know you're a multi EV family. Did you keep the KONA or replace it with the ID. 4?

    • @oceanfroggie
      @oceanfroggie ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NevoEVReviewIreland Replaced with ID4, with a degree of apprehension too, cause was worried about the loss of regen paddles and range/efficiency. But the ID4 smart regen B mode is just as good. Range good enough for all our long trips to kerry, west cork and donegal, although not as efficient as the Kona which could do 120kph with ease using only 17kWh/100km whereas the ID4 is closer to 22-24kWh/100k. But the Kona thought us BEV works and how to trust it and with ease manage long trips. The big plus of ID4 is space, space and space, but little things like lack of centre console storage space, no sunglasses holder and no TPMS display irritate me about ID4 considering the price difference.

    Good review. I've driven the pre-facelift 64kWh version as I was considering buying one at one point. I was quite surprised at the efficiency. The only minus against it (aside from rear space) is the charging speed. It could be better, but with the big battery version I think it's not much of an issue.

    Nice review!
    Btw, I dont know why the most of reviewers dont understand and dont mention that the use of regen paddle shifters behind the wheel is acctualy the simulation of manual CE-car engine braking... like shift to 2nd gear when slowing down you shift left to have more engine braking (so more regen in this case) and to 5th gear on the open road (no regen) because its more efficient to use innercia on the highway..

    We took delivery of our 2023 Kona EV Ultimate on August 24 of this year and we LOVE it. Have 14,500 km on it already and just got back from a 4800 km road trip and we had no issues with it. Great car and really good build quality.
    We are planning a 13,000 km road trip the fall of 23 when my wife retires - really looking forward to it! We have a few shorter road trips coming up soon so we do tend to stack the km's up pretty quickly....love the efficiency of the car truly amazing.

    A Kona mini saga if you are interested. Turned on my 221 Elec Kona there a few weeks ago and had a 'Check vehicle electrical system' error, looked it up in the manual and i needed to be brought back to the garage. They did a test and said it needs a new battery, hyundai then asked for the car for two more days to do more advanced diagnostics, word from the garage was that there were a few of the previous model that had to be recalled due to a battery issue and mine was showing the same error, at the time and may still be mine was the only new model sending this error so they needed to be sure. Short story long Hyundai will be changing the battery in a few weeks. If it wants for the error on the display id never know there was an issue, it drives great. Even with the bit of bother it a great car and I love driving it.
