I think the Withereds match realistic animatronics a bit more than FNAF 1. Chica's beak and Foxy's snouts feel more like realistic animal and also animatronic animal beaks and snouts, theyre bigger which makes them feel more like something that you'd see at Showbiz or Chuck E Cheese. Freddy is pretty much just a redesign of his design from FNAF 1 (with a bit of withering) and he also feels like he has a slightly more realistic design because of this.

I much prefer the idea of these robots just doing all sorts of crazy off the wall crap. Stuff that will make you jump out of your chair a little, stuff that you would expect a ghost to do.
I wish to also say in terms of critiques on the fnaf designs, I feel with foxy if could have more cuts on the clothing for the arms, To kinda emphasize both battle damage as a pirate and age from how long he’s been Anddd just not vibing with Bonnie’s clothes Feel it could emphasize more on the rock side of him? With how with this it feels more like a conductor instead of a guitarist
I agree, I could’ve done more with foxy but his design was already so detailed- I felt like it would’ve been too much since I was trying to keep things relatively simple. Now Bonnie, hun, I wholeheartedly agree- I think he looks like cheeks but I had already spent my whole week trying to get this video done so I didn’t bother redesigning it lmao. I’m a student and employee first so I can’t spend too much time on TH-cam content- perhaps a future drawing idea
I love how you redesigned bonnie, something about that bugs bunny-esque design somehow really fits! though I'm not sure I'm too keen on redesigns that give the animatronics clothes, giving them more than a vest and or pants makes them feel too different from the original designs Imo. still, really underrated video!
@@Hobster64 thank you so much! That honestly makes me feel a lot better about his design. I personally only gave them clothes for two reasons, 1. They were too simple without them after I redesigned them and 2. It’s more accurate to the rockafire explosion since they mostly had full outfits as well. Definitely teetering into full redesign territory with this video haha
love all the designs! i think foxy is my least favorite only because he doesn't look too animatronic-like. he looks too organic around the facial area, and the fluffy dimples look kinda physically improbable considering how chuck e cheese/showbiz pizza animatronic masks were usually made, where the mask was almost entirely latex without any glued fur details, and the fur itself being a self-contained piece that the mask kinda slips into like a jacket. i presume their faces were designed that way because latex masks are easier and cheaper to mass-produce; they're made by pouring rubber in a mold, then some minor cutting and then painting, etc. and i feel like fur on malleable parts of the face like the mouth would require additional manual labor of gluing the fur pieces on and stuff like that. i also know that typically for rock-afire shows, the fur and fabric pieces aren't typically replaced once they're made because those pieces are more expensive to produce, while the latex parts like faces and hands are easy to reproduce. if you do any future fnaf design videos like this i recommend looking at rock-afire explosion restoration videos. they have a lot of good reference for how the characters are actually built and can teach you a lot of intuition about what does and doesn't look believable, based on the way they're built and maintained. also on an unrelated note i think the audio's just a little bit on the quiet side, comparatively with other videos i've been watching today
I feel like the reason you couldn't get bonnie design quite right because his face looks a little too flat, meaning like too mascot costume like and less animatronic movable jaw like, sorry I'm not good with words and they all still look amazing
I'd love to see your takes on the Toys, to be honest. Whilst I do love their original designs, especially Mangle's, I'm very curious to see what you'd alter about them to make them even scarier. In general, Freddy and Bonnie are the only toys that I don't consider frightening in the slightest. They're too cutesy-looking. Chica is the same until she takes off her beak and eyes, though her design has always been somewhat "sexualised" in this incarnation (Though that's dependent on fan opinions in this case). As for Mangle? their design is unnerving already, so it'd be more so a "what-if" of what Toy Foxy looked like before being mangled. (Which means you could experiment with gender-neutral clothing attire and give them a somewhat androgynous appearance).
Also, thanks for adding a tail to Foxy. It's always been a pet peeve of mine whenever I see animal designs that should have tails not include them. As a kid, I always added a tail to his backside since real foxes have them, and to me, they're the most iconic part of a Fox. I would've opted for a belt or sash over the rope but it's still a solid design. Chica's gives me huggable mom vibes, which I absolutely love! I also love the dress since it helps her to look more feminine since the original design always made her look too "boy-like" (Which is a common complaint I've seen) if that makes sense. (Please don't take this the wrong way and assume that I'm being sexist, because I'm not intending for it to come off like that. It just fits with the old-timely vibes that all of them have better, which helps to sell her as the "Muriel" of the gang). Though I'm not opposed to people wanting to keep the masculine aspects when designing their own interpretations. I only say this since classical female animatronics tended to be designed and dressed in stereotypical clothing of the time. Compared to now where they're dressed a bit more equally to their male counterparts. Bonnie's quite solid too! Freddy, I'm a bit mixed on but I do like it.
My avatar is basically just my sona, I call her Dexerli or Dex like my channel name which is also in reference to me ✨I try to keep my actual face and name secret lol
These designs look great, but I don't really think they look scary. That may change if/when their renders are made, but as they are, the designs almost seem... less creepy? Than the originals? Idk.
Is it bad for me to say that even though I'm in my 20s...I prefer to see a 100% family friendly take of FNAF? Like a pacifist route in Security Breach were you save the Glamrocks from Afton's possession instead of smashing them for parts for Freddy, or a cartoon series focusing on Freddy & the gang like how the band came to be or how Fredbear connects to Freddy? Don't get me wrong, I do like the Afton stuff & the lore, I just don't like jumpscares, gore(Except for Spring/Burntrap), or scary clown/animatronic faces. I prefer my creep/fear/horror factors up to something more like Duncan Gets Spooked or Gravity Falls where it's still for kids, but older audiences still love & appreciate it for being brave enough to show scary visuals.
I think the designs are fine, they're nice. Tho not the scariest. Perhaps it would work seeing them like in a scarier context (like doing redraws of some of the camera poses). And I dunno maybe Foxy needs to look a lil more messed up, just a lil. Maybe I'm just too used to real life inspired FNAF 1 redesigns at this point 😅
They definitely are made for in context viewing to really understand the “scare” factor- but man I am so busy with school I couldn’t even try to get more art out 😭
@@dexerli That's completely understandable and relatable. Perhaps that could be a good idea for a sequel to the video, I dunno. Even if I don't agree with most of the video, I hope people don't get too harsh 😅

I feel while I do like the designs… Personally I feel with how the videos structured, the redesigns are iffy to me. They’re not bad by any means! If anything I actually vibe with them fairly But with how the video is structured by talking about how fnaf isn’t really scary to yourself and then makes designs ya feel could be, feels mixed to me Partially cuz fear is a subjective thing, making something as ‘actually scary’ in regards to say, fnaf, feels more so a ‘I prefer fnaf to look in this style personally’ Which is okay! Again fear is subjective But I feel a bit issue with this videos how these subjectively spooky designs are meant to be seen a objectively scarier And I feel that’s what a lot of people may get annoyed about I hope you understand my points with this and hope to see more of your content, even though I disagree with some of your fnaf takes here.
@@skelebonez1349 you’re right on point with what this video is: an opinion piece. Since that’s all art and TH-cam content traditionally is, an opinion. I tried to be objective by making them just look like how real animatronics look which I thought everyone agreed were objectively unsettling to look at, but I’m starting to realize nobody got that and I’m lowkey regretting even posting this video lmao
@@dexerliwould say again the designs are good and it’s fun to hear your feelings with this stuff! Do just think it could be expanded better in certain aspects with what makes it scarier Cuz whileee it does make the designs more realistic The thing that, to a extent, made fnaf more investing, is how the lighting and shadows interact with the designs who don’t come off outwardly spooky Even making the crappiest of designs like Scraptrap, to offputtingly great in the right shadows like in the interrogation and fnaf 6 ending It’s something I myself have actually been tryina juggle with my pfp being a ‘bonnie variant’ wip that I made with 3D printed parts and foam But tried to lean to specific aspects that uniquely differentiates fnaf from other animatronic diners In particular with how- showbiz leans to the skin face thing, Chuck E. Cheese having more cartoonish and almost boxy like heads, and with fnaf, segmented limbs, possibly to both account for animating and inuniverse mobility Would love to talk more on this cuz the design philosophies of it all is fascinating

@@TheSaibotIsReal I personally believe I made them more scary, in my opinion, so I’d like to keep my thumbnail and title the way they are... I’m sorry you disagree. I hope my video and personal opinion doesn’t ruin your day :(
I’m sorry you seem nice but I genuinely hate this video. Fnaf was and still is scary. To me if a horror game is capable of stressing or creeping you out then it’s done its job as a horror game successfully. I hate the criticism that fnaf relies on jumpscares to be scary; it’s not even remotely true and it completely undermines the tension and the atmosphere the game puts actual effort into building. I’ve beaten the game several times without seeing a single jumpscare and I was still on edge the entire time. Jumpscares aren’t scary but the threat of a jumpscare is what makes a game scary. If jumpscares never existed then wondering down a dark hallway in a game would be simple because there would never be a threat to you. I know horror is subjective but I’ve watched a lot of horror movies and played my fair share of horror games and none have surpassed that feeling of pure anxiety that fnaf gave me in that first game. Also I don’t know how making the designs “more realistic” makes them scarier at all. Personally I don’t find your designs very creepy at all but I do find Scott’s to be unnerving. Scott’s designs have their own style and feel that’s unique to them but still captures how creepy real animatronics creepy. He does this by intentionally exaggerating the parts that make animatronics creepy. The sunken eyes, the stilted poses, and the simplistic child-like designs make them uncomfortable but still fairly believable as children’s mascots. Your designs are cool and all but they miss the unique charm the originals have. And on a somewhat unrelated note, I love the scifi direction the series is taking. Fnaf blends the scifi with the supernatural in a way that makes it genuinely interesting to read and dive into. I feel like like people keep forgetting that scifi has always been a part of the franchise as far back as the first game and especially the second game. Plus, if the series was still doing the same generic ghost story shit all these years later people would definitely lose interest. Despite what everyone always says, if you actually read the books they do a good job using scifi to explain the supernatural in a way that makes sense. A big reason why I personally don’t like ghost stories is because it feels like ghosts can just do whatever they want because they’re ghosts and that’s really lame to me. Fnaf actually does something I haven’t seen before and explains the supernatural through science and scientists. In the fnaf universe the supernatural is something that’s known by most people and is studied by scientists; you might think that’s lame but to me it actually makes sense. If ghosts were actually real you wouldn’t have so many deniers of the supernatural; it would be common knowledge and it would be endlessly studied in a similar fashion to how it’s studied in fnaf. Don’t get me wrong, there are scifi elements I don’t like in fnaf, but for the most part the books do a good job making sense of those elements.
@ just to clarify, I don’t fully hate the video I just hate the arguments made in the first half. Again, you seem nice I hope to see more videos from you in the future

I feel with foxy if could have more cuts on the clothing for the arms,
To kinda emphasize both battle damage as a pirate and age from how long he’s been
Anddd just not vibing with Bonnie’s clothes
Feel it could emphasize more on the rock side of him?
Nice art 😎👍
love all the designs! i think foxy is my least favorite only because he doesn't look too animatronic-like. he looks too organic around the facial area, and the fluffy dimples look kinda physically improbable considering how chuck e cheese/showbiz pizza animatronic masks were usually made, where the mask was almost entirely latex without any glued fur details, and the fur itself being a self-contained piece that the mask kinda slips into like a jacket. i presume their faces were designed that way because latex masks are easier and cheaper to mass-produce; they're made by pouring rubber in a mold, then some minor cutting and then painting, etc. and i feel like fur on malleable parts of the face like the mouth would require additional manual labor of gluing the fur pieces on and stuff like that. i also know that typically for rock-afire shows, the fur and fabric pieces aren't typically replaced once they're made because those pieces are more expensive to produce, while the latex parts like faces and hands are easy to reproduce. if you do any future fnaf design videos like this i recommend looking at rock-afire explosion restoration videos. they have a lot of good reference for how the characters are actually built and can teach you a lot of intuition about what does and doesn't look believable, based on the way they're built and maintained.
also on an unrelated note i think the audio's just a little bit on the quiet side, comparatively with other videos i've been watching today
5:54 wrong feet color.
I dont know if you fixed it at the end, am still watching the video lmao
@@troxer007 I was kinda doing what I wanted since I hate Ballora’s design hardcore… sorry
@dexerli its alright, i was just too foccused on the drawing and i realized that the feet werent like the ones in the image.
I feel like the reason you couldn't get bonnie design quite right because his face looks a little too flat, meaning like too mascot costume like and less animatronic movable jaw like, sorry I'm not good with words and they all still look amazing
How was everyone day?
Pretty alright
Also, I really like your avatar! Do they have a name?
My avatar is basically just my sona, I call her Dexerli or Dex like my channel name which is also in reference to me ✨I try to keep my actual face and name secret lol
The orignal 4 werent costume suits, the only springlocks were springtrap and fredbear
great designs though!
@Julia-q7b thank you! I actually talked about how they could actually be costumes if you wanna check out that theory!
@@dexerli that sounds intresting, ill check it out!
I like em!
I prefer my creep/fear/horror factors up to something more like Duncan Gets Spooked or Gravity Falls where it's still for kids, but older audiences still love & appreciate it for being brave enough to show scary visuals.
not sure about all of the negativity regarding the theory community, lol
@@alejandrosanchezazuara4267 oh trust me, some people are already showing their true colors. I’m just trying to share some art, man 😂 I wish I could’ve gotten you to like most of the video though, I spent a lot of time on it- sucks to see so many people don’t like what I brought to the table 🤷♀️ it is what it is ig
I honestly prefer modern fnaf
Imma be brutally honest the only scary design on this video is Freddy, the others look too cute
Not bad designs by any means tho
I feel while I do like the designs… Personally I feel with how the videos structured, the redesigns are iffy to me.
They’re not bad by any means! If anything I actually vibe with them fairly
But with how the video is structured by talking about how fnaf isn’t really scary to yourself and then makes designs ya feel could be, feels mixed to me
Partially cuz fear is a subjective thing, making something as ‘actually scary’ in regards to say, fnaf, feels more so a ‘I prefer fnaf to look in this style personally’
Which is okay! Again fear is subjective
But I feel a bit issue with this videos how these subjectively spooky designs are meant to be seen a objectively scarier
And I feel that’s what a lot of people may get annoyed about
I hope you understand my points with this and hope to see more of your content, even though I disagree with some of your fnaf takes here.
Do just think it could be expanded better in certain aspects with what makes it scarier
Cuz whileee it does make the designs more realistic
The thing that, to a extent, made fnaf more investing, is how the lighting and shadows interact with the designs who don’t come off outwardly spooky
Even making the crappiest of designs like Scraptrap, to offputtingly great in the right shadows like in the interrogation and fnaf 6 ending
It’s something I myself have actually been tryina juggle with my pfp being a ‘bonnie variant’ wip that I made with 3D printed parts and foam
But tried to lean to specific aspects that uniquely differentiates fnaf from other animatronic diners
In particular with how- showbiz leans to the skin face thing, Chuck E. Cheese having more cartoonish and almost boxy like heads, and with fnaf, segmented limbs, possibly to both account for animating and inuniverse mobility
Would love to talk more on this cuz the design philosophies of it all is fascinating
>making fnaf actually scary
>Looks inside
>Realistic
Yep, I explained that in the video and the pinned comment :)
@dexerli ok thanks for the anwser
umm, first off mate. amazing artwork and cool-art-style mate
9:56 maskcot costumes have multiple parts to them being the torso, legs, sometimes arms, hands, feet, and head/face 😅😊
For then they can be easily cleaned and fixed
@@nicolerickert5222 mine was one whole suit when I was a mascot. The feet and head were the only pieces that weren’t attached to the body- so I’m basing it off of what I know myself
Well again Freddy fazbear's is a place for children so what do you mean it's going to make children be scared
I never said it would scare children? Are you referring to something else?
I like Mangle >:3
Also there is other Bonnie redesigns you could use as a reference
Uh, how can FNaF be both “It was never scary” and “The newer games made it less scary”?
@@GFred1983 I was meaning that in the sense of everyone thinks it IS scary, so with that in mind- since my opinion is not fact- the recent games are more baby-ified compared to the others. I hope that makes sense :)

@@GFred1983 ah, I just wasn’t thinking about it. Unfortunately, I won’t do any more of these because of the responses I’ve been getting. So it’s up to everyone’s personal interpretation at this point what he’d look like:)

woke up and choose violence
@ a single video isnt gonna ruin my day
I’m sorry you seem nice but I genuinely hate this video.
@@ivebenhere1843 I think our perspectives are very different, sorry I frazzled you so badly :(
