I used to live on Orchard Street and always came to Russ & Daughters for breakfast. Miss this place. Best bagels ever.

@@bimbus2440isn't that mostly because y'all are lucky enough to more often than not get them fresh out of the oven, so they still have some warm chewy softness inside but still a little crunch to the shell already? The rest of us aren't always so lucky, unfortunately :P That said, I sometimes do how Kenji advises, and reheat the bagel whole, instead of in 2 slices.

Hmmm just watched this looking for ideas for bagels... the strawberry blond made it so awkward she acted like she did not have time for this lady who has brought all these wonderful treats from her store and although that guest was asked about her family store it was just brushed off while we got to hear all about the hosts story. She acted like she only had so much film in the can and they needed to brush. Sooo unpleasant. I felt she was rude and the lady from the store had extreme history and live from the presentation and was clearly taken back as the host just annoyingly flopped it onto the board.... I felt sorry for that guest, who was certainly the more knowledgeable one with regards to the FAMILY store products.
