If you want to add shadow to splash or any object , you go to up menu - Effect ----> Stylize -----> Drop shadow like showed on minute 12:26 .

The tutorial is good, but the mesh tool in illustrator really sucks. The geometry is so hard to understand and control. I cant find any setting or anything. They're not making any progress, Adobe.
