Great music❤
I earnestly believe that Alexander Malofeev is a perfect interpreter of Rachmaninoff. You can hear and feel the depth and beauty of Rachmaninoff's music all throughout his performance. It makes one glad to love and be alive. Bravo!!!
Russia spasibo for Alexande Malofeev !! 🎶🎵🌷🌷🌷 (Holland-europe)
.браво
Thank you Alexander for filling our grey lives with much colour and beauty.
Thanks for this video. Really very very good. Of course I enjoyed a lot Alexander's pianistic and artistic approach of the work, but I also find that you conducted very well and the orchestra did a great job. In total a splendid performance.
Malofeev is one of if not my absolute favorite pianists of our time. He is relentlessly passionate but also has crystalline clarity and near perfect articulation. Usually you only get one or the other
I think, Alexander is the best interpretant of Rachmaninov´s piano concertos !
A very special gift for me in this Easter Day to find Aleksandr Malofeev's new performance on TH-cam. As ever one the best pianist: brilliant and clear touch, great skill, delicacy, graceful and deep sound, aesthetic search of musical phrasing, and moreover. A great pleasure listening to this performance: one of the best pianist in the World with great conductor and orchestra.
I have been listening to this concerto since it was posted. Simply wonderful. As Alexander said in a recent interview - I simply give myself - He does.
There are scores of great pianists out there but Alexander Malofeev will always be my favorite.
That is because he is the best of a number of extraordinarily gifted pianists that we have the great privilege and pleasure to experience. No-one matches his clarity, his scholarly interpretation, his devotion to his beloved composers.......
@@obelisk1516 What a wonderful comment. I am old, but for many years he has been my favorite too.Check out Eve Wong, she has some brilliant videos on youtube of Alexander !
@@emilyhutjes Thank you. Yes, I am familiar with Eve Wong who has done much to bring Alexander to peoples' attention.
BRAVO TOUT Y EST TEMPO PULSATION INTERPRÉTATION DIVINE. UN DES PLUS GRANDS A CE JOUR. MERCI ALEXANDRE MALOFEEV
You are the best pianist on the world ! Happy to hear you everyday!
He puts so much feeling in to whatever he plays. Of course Rachmaninov is his specialty and definitely my favorite.
What absolute beauty you bring with your incredible talent!
In such perilous times you are very much needed and appreciated! I am so thankful for your gift and my sense of hearing! Still my favorite pianist and conductor!!!
Bravo times eternity!
The orchestra is outstanding in all their performances!!!
That wonderful lead violin helps the orchestra keep up to Sasha’s tempo!
Rachmaninov was 18 years old when he composed this concerto.
Wow, that's amazing. So many of the famous composers composed brilliant music at such a young age. Such genius surely is a gift from above!
This is the revised version that Rachmaninoff made 25 years later. The original version has been recorded but is no where near as accomplished as the revised version.
Thank you so much for this beautiful performance by the amazing Alexander Malofeev. His work is amazing!❤️
@AlexandersMalofeev : Dobriy den Alexander. I just wrote you an e-mail to wish you Happy Easter and may GOD bless you and your family always. Thank you for Rach -1-. You bring happiness and light in these dark days. Am fan from Holland-europe. and spasibo Alexander. 🌷🌷🌷🌷 One day this terrible culture-ban will end !
Alexander, your cadenza at the end of Movement I is breathtaking. Historically, I believe you will be known as the greatest pianist of the 21st Century.
When it comes to Rachmaninov, I agree. There are others, e.g. young Elisey Mysin who is Mozart reincarnated. Almost all outstanding talents come from Russia......
You are correct No doubt at all about it. Artistic perfection, unmatched this century so far AND the last. Rachmaninov himself might be the exception.
@@tangospirit22 Because, almost every Russian kid going to music school(7 years).
@@jaxileonova7003 Esatto!
I missed this somehow. This guy gets better and better.
Sei eccezionale. Grazie.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏❤🥰
Thank you for your comment Carmela. You speak my heart
Finally, the 1st concerto! All we need now is th 4th!
This is brilliant….. Young Mr. Malofeev is one of the greats. I hope that one day in the future you will all play together again.
Another triumph. I hadn't heard this until now. My heart beats differently and my head can think of nothing else when I hear him play. Glorious!
Your playing gets better and better!!
It's amazing that there's a single seat empty in that hall! It would be a dream to hear/see A.M. live! At very least, he's the best pianist of his generation, hands down (in my humble opinion). Also, the Timpani player is astounding! She's just killing it! Such power! Bravo!
Alexander incanta sempre.
Beautiful!
I love listening to Alexander Malofeev!
Thank you for posting!
Bravo,Bravo, no one like you, dear Alexander!
Its always a pleasure to hear Alexander play. Some of his relatives are in Ukraine, so he will need our prayers.
Are his parents Ukrainians? And if not why are they in Ukrainian !!!!
@@france4me117 It was an error on my part. I have since corrected it.
Hi Carl, In my humble opinion, with all due respect for Malofeev, the performance by Ivan Bessonov at the age of 14 for the same concert n.ro 1 by Rachmaninov, at the age of 14, is so superior that it renders this version of the talented Malofeev , not comparable.
It is a real pity that Bessonov publishes very few performances that Ivan himself performs in many parts of the world but which are not made public, probably due to family choices.
In Italy last year he performed many concerts: in Camerino, Arezzo, Verona, but there is no public one. I own a private one but I don't publish it for obvious reasons.
@@derekborg5159 I totally agree with your insights. Ivan will be entering the Rachmaninoff Competition soon, I hope he plays either the Rach 1 or 2, but not 3 unless he plays the shorter cadenza and omits 2 bars at the bottom of page 26 ("terrible musically" Horowitz) which I dont believe he would do. Ivan has 2 beautiful CD's which I got from amazon.
@@789armstrong Dear Carl, you are always a special person and I thank you for your learned insights that invariably accompany your interventions. I hope you're fine. Thanks for your cd tips. Greetings dearest.
The Bösendorfer piano completes the splendid picture of this performance! Some time ago I had the opportunity to compare Bösendorfer piano with other excellent pianos and the Bösendorfer has better sounds; later I discovered many had the same opinion, Alexander Malofeev's performance could not have been more splendid than this, with his playing. excellent and with sonority enhanced, if possible, by the Bösendorfer. Amazing concert!
To me, it seems that most grand pianos have a tinnie sound in their middle registers and it is not a rich tone like the other keys. This piano had a rich tones on the entire keyboard and what a difference it makes!
@@bonnijordan2627 I agree. The Bösendorfer generally has a very balanced sound and wins over other grand pianos: moreover it has, as is known, some more keys, generally not used except for a few pieces. The young pianist is excellent, with a side dish, including the piano, of a very good level. And, yes, such a piano makes a difference!
Thanks for posting this. I have Alexander's Rachmaninov Concertos 1, 2 and 3 now. An incredible treat: I love each one of them. Thanks for your incredible interpretation, Alexander. One day I will hear you live!! And: you and your Ukrainian relatives remain in my thoughts.
There is also the 4th concerto
Absolute perfection from Sasha 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you SO much for uploading this wonderful concerto and brilliant performance by the incredibly talented Alexander Malofeev...and all!
Splendida esecuzione!
Amazing performance. So free.
Alex: I seem to see a very special performance and great artistic vitality, really marvellous.Congratulations.It's encouraging for you Sasha and all of us the way we get so much beauty with your art due to your undeniable talent.I wish you the best along all your life.Regards of your fan and friend Daniel from Argentina.
Marvellous! What can I add?
Wow! Thank you for sharing this piece of brilliance. Long awaited the 1st piano concerto by Rachmaninoff. It is finally here. As usual brilliantly played by Alexander Malofeev and this orchestra. Also nice to see him play the "Grand Dame" of pianos the Bösendorpher! Oscar Peterson's piano of choice. Thank you again, and I will play this many times again.
BOSENDORFER! Thank you for information. I am always curious since reading Piano Shop on West Bank. And Fazioli piano. Just a listener but fun to learn.
BRAVO WOW THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS PIECE OF BRILLIANCE;THIS YOUNG ALEXANDER MALOFEEV HE IS ONE OF THE GREATS BEST PIANIST AND THER IS ONLY ONE ANOTHER WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS CONCERTO , THANK YOU AGAIN ; 🥰
Extremely mature playing for his age. Incredible rubatos. Expert sound control. Extreme attention to details during arpeggios especially left hand. Monumental build-up from 11:12 on. This boy was born to play Rachmaninoff. I can compare this only to Zimerman and Richter.
So Fantastic ❤️
Thank you for sharing 👍
Love him!
@Jay VS Yes Alexander the pianist genius as well as the person is to be loved. I met him Oct. 1 st. 2022 in Amsterdam after his brilliant recital. 🌷🌷🌷
Beautiful performance!!!
Sorry guys, I had to look on the map to find where Kostroma is. Now I know just like the Kostroma audience found out they listened to one of the worlds greatest pianists!
Looking at the map one has to ascend about 300 miles above the earth just to get one´s bearings and find some coastline.
I had to look it up as well :-) West Russia in the golden ring of old cities. Alexander also performed (solo) in a small hall in a town in Holland March 2022. He is just a very kind and modest young man and a absolute genius.
Great day for such a great human. Thanks for sharing your birthday with us.
Excellent... like always.
Perfekt!
Love the sound of the Bösendorfer grand piano, a hundred times better than the eternal Steynway

Serial killer touch.
Very impressive.
…. And watch how the female flautist responds to Sasha’s playing…❤️

I can't but wonder what was Malofeev thinking during this performance. Where am I? I'm sorry, but this orchestra and this entire setting isn't fit for his caliber. He looked bored throughout the entire concerto. Not to mention there were many awkward moments from the orchestra and he just had to go with it. Am I imagining it?
EDIT: The audio engineer needs to be fired.
@Alan Potter. Alexander tried to signal the conductor, I saw that too. The orchestra played to loudly. They have to follow Alexander not the other way around. But he is never bored, he is not like that, he is too modest for that.
@@emilyhutjes Modesty can go only that far. It's his career at stake.... I bet he'd think twice before collaborating with them again.
@@alanpotter8680 You are right Alan I hope Alexandre has a good manager !! During interviews you see how polite and a bit introvert Alexander is, talking about how he loves to play solo bec. then it is the piano, the music and him for his audience. Oct. 1st. 2022 he gives a recital in Amsterdam: Beethoven, Medtner and Rach's tableau. They advertise him as:"Malofeev plays Beethoven". I wander why.?! I am going with my daughter, first row and I'll give him a flower and a tiny present. My grandsons (18 and 20) have to study. Next day Alexander performs in Paris. I hope he stays a proud Russian genius. Thank you for your elegant answer Alan.
Emily- I am so happy for you to have been so close to this courageous, but humble genius.
I’m so curious if you were able to talk with him later about how things are going with him…?
Your perceptions are accurate Alan, it's not a great orchestra. There's particularly something sour in the woodwinds.... but it's not uncommon at all that the level of an orchestra is not at the level of a soloist. And it's good musicianship to be gracious when playing with others below your skill level.
