    The video is great and the balaclava too but I have to be honest it was not understandable to me how to include my personal measurings. I would have loved to see you trying on the balaclava in-between just to see how it has to look and whether I had to make my parts bigger. I redid the hood the second time now and am a bit unmotivated now :(
    I hope ill get there soon :D

    sorry one question about something I didn't understand: when i'm reducing the stitches, i have to keep reducing it adding one or I have to reduce just three stitches together for every round? thank you so much i really liked this video!!

  • @fennogan4498

    so question
    You start the decrease rows with just one regular decrease because you have an even number of stitches. For example, if you had 50 stitches, this would take you to 49.
    You then do a hdc3tog on the next row as a decrease, since you have an odd number of stitches. In our example, this would take you from 49 stitches to 47. This number is still odd.
    So my question is, how and why would you alternate regular decrease rows with hdc3tog decrease rows if the subsequent row has an odd number of stitches?

    • @cass8353
      @cass8353 ปีที่แล้ว

      i was thinking this exact same thing about to comment it, since you stitch together 3 on the second decrease i think it'd be 3 - 49 which is 46 so it makes sense

  • @graceharris3998

    so after the first decrease are we decreasing by 3 every time? or do we only decrease by 2 when theres an even amount of stitches/ decrease by 3 if theres an odd amount of stitches?

    • @kiwiuza9990

      What i do is buy two yarn balls and use them at the same time as it was one single string

    • @cranberr1
      @cranberr1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using one skein you find both ends of the yarn and and use them at once, the yarn end can typically be found in the middle of the skein

  • @TheEbonySa1nt

    Will post update as i make this project this may be helpful for others. So i cant find my 4.5mm hook (typical) and i ended up using a 5mm. My measurments were a inch bigger then yours. Since its a half size bigger i assume if i use your measurements 4inches/17 inches it may fit properly. Wish me luck

    • @TheEbonySa1nt
      @TheEbonySa1nt ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi it took me 2 weeks to do the ribbing lmao the 5 mm hook is fine I'm using measurments in the video just adding a extra inch. I'm at the half double crochet now instead of 9 inches I'm doing 10 to play it safe.

  • @kapigirlypop_

  • @mahleecrahan6613

    dumb question, but when i’m trying to do the rubbing it keeps getting smaller and smaller what’s happening and how do i fix? :( it went from 4.5 in to 2inches within the first like 5 rows

      @FullMetalMachine ปีที่แล้ว

      hi you're probably not crocheting the very last stitch it's very finicky to find if you're a first timer ! try and count the stitches as you go for the first rows, after a while it should be automatic

  • @angelicdivin
    @angelicdivin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    does it matter what yarn weight and hook you’re using in using weight 4 yarn and a 6.5 millimeter hook I’m not very familiar with resizing

    • @madeinthemoment
      @madeinthemoment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're not sure what size to use, I'd recommend checking the label on your yarn to see what the recommended hook size for the yarn is. Try that out and if you don't like the resulting fabric then you can size up or down from there. It will really depend on your tension. For me a 6.5mm hook with weight 4 yarn creates a fabric that's a little loose but for some people it might be too tight. Hope that helps!

    How do you do to crochet with the double yarn?

    • @mishythepescado
      @mishythepescado 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can either get two skeins and just hold both ends together or you can grab both ends from one skein and crochet as you normally would with one strand

    Girl idk what you did to make the hood fit your head but it was way too small for me. 😭From the side, the hood sat more towards the back of my head. The ribbing part for me was 18.5 inches and I didn't have a tight tension so i'm so confused. Also would help so much if you tried it on throughout the process. Or showed it on a styrofoam mannequin head.

    do I have to do the double yarn or if i’m using a slightly thicker yarn can I leave it one strand? working in the back is harder for me and I want to just use one strand but if I have to use both I will!

    • @madeinthemoment
      @madeinthemoment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can just use one strand! I used 2 so that both of my yarns would be about the same thickness but using one strand is perfectly fine :)

    • @cheyennelomax6191
      @cheyennelomax6191 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      It’s made to measure so you’d definitely have to do a bit more work than following exactly. Like my ribbed strip was 22in because my head is bigger and I accounted for my super thick hair that would stick out. I hope that can help.

    • @mojirahbari7782
      @mojirahbari7782 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@blablaire once you’ve created the ribbing for the neck and stitched around it for a row, used a stitch marker where you want it to be open (remember to save room for the face framing ribbing u do later), chain 1, and begin increasing the number of stitches gradually throughout the back of your head until it fits around the back of your head nicely, then crochet a few rows without increasing (to ensure that it can stretch over ur crown if u need it to). then decrease as you normally would. then it should fit around your head better. i feel like that’s a good variation to this pattern for ppl like u and i lmao
