One of the nicest things she ever did for people was, after her JFK's funeral, she got a lot of mail from people all over the country, expressing their condolences to her about her husband being killed and her being a widow to raise two children on her own. She spent day and night writing back personally to each and every person who wrote to her. I think she did it out of thanks, but also to help the people that wrote to her out of the pain they were enduring. It took her a couple of months, of her writing day and night, but she did it.
There was just something about Jackie . She had that special magic and charisma all her own . I love and admire her memory .

F Y I, Jackie O detested Martin Luther King Jr. referring to the iconic civil rights leader as a "terrible man" I suspect that attitude was a result of her husband and brother-in-law's repeated meetings with King and his group, John F Kennedy was tolerant of KIng and his demands his brother RFK not so much, but later championed King and his demands after his brother was assassinated that changed him until he too was assassinated.
President Johnson was a joke by forcing Mrs Kenedy to stand there while he took the oath of office. That was beyond cruel.

The things said after she married Onassis somewhat changed perception of the former first lady. Like when Christina Onassis quipped " Jackie adores money, and my father adores her with his money". But Jackie made an impressive First Lady regardless.

Onassis was the only one who could provide the security she needed for her children after 2 Kennedys were killed.

Ruth Jesse, Most of Jackies’s things are on display at the Kennedy Library, although her wedding gown has become too fragile to display anymore. From what I have read, there is now only an artist’s drawing of the wedding gown that Jackie wore on the day she was married to JFK. Jackies’s inaugural gown is on display at the Smithsonian, along with the gowns of other First Ladies.
I guess Jacklin is the most sophisticated first lady who had good taste and spoke fluently French.
