- At 83 years old, Pete Aardema, a seasoned engineer, and machinist Kevin Brauns have teamed up to create an extraordinary homemade 5-liter V12 engine built entirely from raw materials. Their ambitious project aims to push the limits of engineering and performance, with the V12 engine designed to rev up to an astonishing 11,500 RPM. Crafted with precision and passion, this cutting-edge engine is a testament to their decades of expertise and dedication to high-performance racing technology.
The duo's ultimate goal is to set new land speed records at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats, where the pursuit of speed is as much about innovation as it is about raw horsepower. With the engine's unique design and unmatched craftsmanship, Aardema and Brauns are hoping to make history and redefine what’s possible in the world of racing and engineering. This homemade V12 is not just a machine - it’s a dream brought to life, blending decades of knowledge with a relentless desire to break boundaries.
These guys are a dying breed.
@@johnhenke6475 hope you are mistakenly voting….. we like the good old boys from friesland
If in your life you get to encounter/spend time with guys like this-you know pretty early on that it’s a blessing.
Appreciate the time you get with those around you who are worthy of your admiration.
The wisdom can’t be overrated.
Tremendous!
The raw talent of the entire team is simply on another level. Thank you for another great video.
I could watch them for hours and never get bored
You Said the MAGIC WORD MORE VIDEOS. Like Pete said TIME We Never Have ENOUGH TIME. Would Love To Watch the MASTERS at WORK. Thanks for Your TIME and PETES.
Aardema is from Friesland, just as i am, its a special type of dutch type. And from a very educated family. No wonder he says time is the biggest problem….. regards and thx for your documentation of persisting men!
I liked watching Pete get his mind-gears going. I hope I'm that sharp when I am his age.
Absolutely incredible!!!..I wish I lived near these guys to learn from them before this great information goes away...thank you for sharing this..-John
This is a dream come true for me. As someone who is both self-taught and formal schooling. As well someone who as always been fascinated by machining. To get these sorts of insights by a master machinist/engineer is wonderful. One-thousand NA HP is so cool! "I am not a turbo guy." Naturally aspirated is so pure. And a V-12 is such a great sound. Amazing work in the shop and with the videos. Many thanks.
My favorite channel!!
It's amazing what these men can build! Thanks for another video!
I gotta see this one running... Subbed here.
❤
Thank You !!
& once again!....... Honestly, it's just like talking with an old friend! 😎 Thanks Greg 👍
Thank you Greg, Pete and Kevin. Awesome video as always
Impressively Amazing !!!
What more can possibly be said !!!
I love to watch these guys know about them for years, I spent a lifetime in motorsports in a different discipline. Since we were kids a good friend of mine started his vw engine shop in his moms garage Jim Fueling had this idea about making a four valve head no drawings to speak of just a old bridgeport and my hand my hand me down lathe I remember knocking in valve seats on the kitchen floor I recall it made 83hp on one cylinder. It was my wins in the buggie classes thanks to jim that got me picked up by nissan, then nissan had jim do work on there 4 valve that contributed to multiple championships as well at bonneville and many other aspects of motor design and endurance testing another self-taught engineer. It was a small world back then.
The collective wealth of knowledge and ability is staggering
Thanks for sharing.
That engine looks amazing
must be the best engine builders of all time
I love these guys and the amazing things they make. Please keep these videos coming!
What an awesome place to be
Thanks for the video!! 👍👍
Thanks! 👍💪✌
Impressive. I can't wait to hear it run.
Your videos are so interesting, thank you for taking the time to share. I live in a little Dutch town in Michigan and we have a lot of people with the last name of Aardema funny how it’s pronounced here “ Ard a ma” instead of “Ard dim a”
Love you guys, great engineering and go-fast fun 😎 !
id love to see them put the 2.0L in a drag civic.
Their coming along, well done
Good fun
Brilliance!!!!
What fuel are they running?
Some good old American ingenuity.
I need more
❤❤❤
I wish there were more videos

GM FORD NEEDS YOUR HELP😅
sorry i count 12 on a side thats a v 24
@@matthewzuleger4569 2 intake ports per cylinder. It’s a v12
83 and still has hair. Samson of designers.
what kind of spark plugs are you using? surface discharge? why did you choose 60 degree angle? why not 65 like f1 needed for more power? i would love to see some data i really like how nivlac57 has a overlay with a bunch of data while the car is running it also allows the viewer to see what has happed for example if he says a cylinder went lean on the last half of the run you can see that. Bmw made some really cool engines like the m88 s70/2 and the s50b32 (s50 and s70 are very similar) just google a dyno graph of a s50b32 peak torque at 3250 and peak power at 7400
60, 180, 120 degrees is natural for a v12.
Any other angle is for packaging.
@ Yes I understand that I just wondering why f1 engines had and issue with packaging needed more room in v for manifold and ports and this engine does not. It could be that the engine is much bigger f1 was a 3.5liter while this is a 5liter or a compromise to reduce frontal area.
