The last few years in the knife world in general can be summed up as "solutions looking for a problem," but the kickstop can be considered the crown jewel of that whole ethos.
Please stop saying m390 is top tier blade steel. It can be heat treated poorly and other than Reate and Spyderco, its always done to a low value and low cutting performance and not worth asking prices. Anyone doing m390 to 62rc with low temper or anyone using secondary hardening successfully like Reate at 59 to 61rc with 3 high heat tempers are going to be the most valuable of m390. Anything else is basically just s35vn or slightly better than s35vn... And thats not really good.
Well, this was done by Reate, so to your own admission, it was heat treated correctly and would be a top-tier steel. If it was some random overseas brand, I wouldn't have done a video on it. But assuming I did, I would mention that their heat treat, and even origin of steel would be questionable at best.
@@EpicSnuggleBunny yup. We have many USA manufacturers also heat treating m390, 20cv 204p in the 57 to 60 range also. Meaning they are also not worth their high prices. Generally the USA brands will often have a better microstructure than the overseas counterparts at those hardnesses. But they are still budget low value. Looking at major USA brands including microtech, hinderer etc. Zt are huge offenders with very poor microstructure and low hardness.

Welcome back! Thanks for the videos and our Clyde Challenor. Ended up picking up a viper, and now have a custom order waiting to be made!
That's awesome!
Glad to watch your vids, sweet folder really liked it.👌
Appreciate you watching!
Where’d you go man?
Kinda burnt out, taking a break from TH-cam for the moment. I'm still posting on Instagram, because it only requires a fraction of the time.
Great info 👍
Man, that action sounds sick. 🖤💀
It's super satisfying
Sick knife👍
Why haven’t you posted anything in a while
