      WOW.....same as me!!
      I was born in 1973.
He was so phenomenal and larger-than-life.
      The man could sing anything.
He was so good-looking and handsome.
If he were to be a big hit today, but just as the younger Elvis.....wow.
The musical world would be turned upside down.
My Mother had a lot of his records and listened to them.
She even made a bust of Elvis when she used to do pottery.
This man will be missed but never forgotten!
This concert is 50 years old this year!
      R.I.P. Elvis Presley 1935-1977.
      He died way too young.

No other can compare, he was the whole package. This was just 4 years before his death. I can not watch this without crying. The pain, the joy, the heart ache and most of all in gratitude for God giving us such a beautiful soul. Thank you for putting this together- it is amazing to see. Gives us a chance to be there. I have never seen such a confident powerful guy but at the same time so humble and simple. He was laughing at himself (was talking about his suit for a moment), did goofy faces, he takes even the time to thank his musicians AND the people at the back who made this show possible. I love the fact that he is the king and he OWNS it, but at the same time he is so laid back, relax and doesn't take himself too seriously. He's a great example of the following fact: you can be confident without being egoist. Was a fan of Elvis since 5 (I'm 22) and saw his documentary on Netflix this week. We love you Elvis, and I hope one day to pay my respects to you in Memphis

I know his mom was looking down on him so proud of him when he did this show! She said to herself, I mean I bet she did, I did a pretty good job on this one God gave me! I still think Vernon had to be awed everytime he saw him perform. He loved the perks but had to be just awed that he had so much talent! The lady who wrote the book destined to die young, figured out exactly how long his concerts were each and exactly how much time he spent mostly how long he had his eyes closed. Not many know what serious eye issues Elvis had! He had Glaucoma really badly!
At times he spent weeks having to have shots in his eyes every few days. If he was recording they laid him in the middle of the floor and someone had to hold his head still so they could give him shots directly in his eye balls. He also had to stop dying his eye lashes.

I remember the day he died. I was 10 yrs old, & there was breaking news that came over the radio on Aug 16, 1977, I had just come in from laying out in the sun in our backyard, "Elvis Presley is dead. Yes, you are hearing this story & it is correct. The King of Rock 'n' Roll has died." I started screaming, I didn't know what to do, my Mother grabbed me & held me, for what seemed like for so long. All she could do was rub my back & try to console me. Elvis is & will always be my best, favorite performer, singer, song writer, EVERYTHING to me. He was just up & coming when he died. I was only 10 yrs old, but, man! I could really shake my hips! 😂❤🥰🤗🙏I will love you forever, Elvis. You'll never leave my heart. Neither will your Daughter, Lisa Marie, you both died way before your time was up. Forever a fan, forever I will always love you & your Daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. You both had so much music to share with the world. Sometimes, I'm not sure if the world really realizes what it has lost. Missing you both forever. May God keep you both safe under his wings, until we meet again some day. Forever a fan, Kimberly. ❤🙏

He had to sing all these songs (25?!) from memory and without breaks, not like today's artists filling the scene with dancers etc...He was the show. Interesting tidbit about this concert. They performed a show the day before this event to have as a backup in case the live feed cut out. Elvis chopped a couple of the songs up because he forgot words. There was someone in front of the stage who held cue cards with the lyrics of the songs during the live show as a backup. 12:03 mark during Burning Love you can see the white poster boards off the front of the stage.

It is not easy, especially as we become more vintage on stage, to remember all of our lines. Some pretty lady walks in and inspires you a little too much and you lose your line!
I used to do 45 to 48 songs a night until my voice was tired. On my first tour. We did two hours and done, for each show.
What a nice change it was to just sing two hours!
I grew up in my car seat with Elvis Presley playing on am radio! I recorded songs I wrote in Nashville from 1992 to 2021. It is not easy to do a ton of songs on stage. Elvis had a special magic and charisma and truly loved the limelight. He loved people and was a gracious, respectful, God-loving man. If you have a chance. check out one of my less serious songs on TH-cam “Your Dinner’s in The Dog!”, under Lenny Paquette. Also, “Baby Will You Take My Hand!” One vivid dream I had growing up was that Elvis was at the back of the stage backing me from Heaven. We all have great memories of this great man. I had a friend buy tickets to his last show at the old Hartford Civic Center. When Elvis died, my friend’s daughter kept the tickets meant for me. I never paid for them because my Buddy got a refund. Thanks Elvis for reaching me to sing with passion. heart, and soul.
Thanks for being on my path in this lifetime. Hope to open for you someday! God Bless You! God Bless everyone who hung on here.

Here’s a fun fact about this concert…. This was the first program to be broadcast via satellite all over the world and back in 1973, the world’s population was around 4 billion and 1 billion of them (or 25%) tuned in to watch it!!! Another half billion watched it later as a replay for a total of 1.5 billion (37.5% of the world!) That is INSANE!!!! Not to mention that back then (and even still today!), a significant chunk of the world didn’t even have electricity or access to television…. AND one of the largest countries who did, The USSR, didn’t air it due to the Cold War and all. That’s just always absolutely BLEW MY MIND and it definitely proves just how adored and loved Elvis was everywhere!

Some Celebrities now days are arrogant, some of them don’t even take a picture with their fans while Elvis Presley is more popular and more known then all of the nowadays celebrities and without a phone he managed to stay closer to his fan by showing them how much he really loved them.

I was in high school when this concert was played in 1973. My friend from school loved Elvis Presley but her parents were strict and would not have let her watch it. So we came up with a plan for her to spend the night with me so we could study for a big test coming up. We didn't want to lie so we studied until the Aloha from Hawaii came on. We had the best time. She cried because she couldn't believe she actually got to see the concert. In my 60s now and this concert always reminds me of that moment in time.

Was it a late night broadcast, were her parents Amish, or whatever could be the reason for parents denying their kids Elvis in 1973? I could (if I stretch my imagination to the maximum) understand it pre-Germany, but in -73???

    • @AngelCatBaby
      @AngelCatBaby 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Many parents thought Elvis was a bad influence on their kids and denied them from watching him. I was fortunate to have more understanding parents who let me enjoy Elvis’ songs and music and knew he wasn’t that way. I grew up in a musical family in which both my parents could play musical instruments, I followed in their footsteps and for a short time I was able to be in a band playing music with others and playing music to those in nursing homes, who needed a chance to listen and for a short time, forget and let music help ease and heal their pains and sorrows. We sometimes forget how precious and beautiful in which music plays an important role in our lives. 😊….. HIGH 5

This concert is one of my favorites. I break down in tears Everytime I watch this. I wish I could have been there to see him in person, but I am so thankful to my mom for making sure that I knew of him and later I would realize how very important he is to many people. A movie came on the TV and there he was, just looking so handsome. I was probably around 12 or 13 maybe, not sure, didn't know at that time who he was just his name. It soon became clear though, and ever since then, throughout these years, I still feel very close to him, my heart melts Everytime I hear his voice; he continues to lift my spirits. I will always love Elvis and what great goodness he show to others while he was on this earth with us. So, not only was he a georgious man, a great singer and actor, he was a an awesome human being who cared deeply for others and would probably give the shirt off his back for anyone whom needed it. There may be some people who care for him but I bet there are few and far between. Besides our Lord Jesus Christ, this world would be nothing without Elvis ever being in our lives. Our world today is in a mess but if we listen to his voice especially when he sings gospel, we can all get a real blessing as long as we remember our God, for he made Elvis be who he was and still is, even after his death, Elvis will live on in our hearts, our minds, and our souls forever and ever. " Elvis, even though you didn't know that I existed as one of your true fans, I hope somehow you know me after all, because you have been an inspiration to me and have loved you since age 13 and today I am 62. Thanks for giving me something to always look forward to. Thanks to the person who posted this video. I have a copy on DVD, and look at it quite often.

He was only 38 years old when he did this concert. The closest he ever came to performing live around the world. First ever Live Via Satellite. First time satellite technology was used to transmit a live concert around the world.
It was watched by over 1 billion people that night. That was ¼ of the Earth's population back then. (3.92 billion -1973)

People really believe this? The 1973 broadcast was released in STAGES, it was not shown simultaneously around the world. That's all a big lie, a lot of marketing malarkey...It was shown live in the US only...then a taped version was broadcast in Europe and other areas in APRIL 1973...it is all documented. In fact, I WAS in Europe at the time and recall people that I met from Denmark commenting on the recent broadcast. It was not "live worldwide over satellite" as the marketing says.

I think I was 11 and from there on I thought that every boyfriend would have to have something that reminded me of Elvis, mostly tall and dark. But when I was 14 I met the love of my life and he could've been Elvis's twin right down to the sideburns and smiling eyes. Soulmates for life, he was soft, kind, loved animals and music and had a sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. I used to tease him about being my Elvis. He's been gone 11 years and I love him today as much as I did all those years ago. Long live the kings
