I once saw a guy try to cut through a pipe which had a blanket of material around the pipe kind of like a layer of Kevlar. The blanket of material was a little loose and the saw just moved the material back and forth with the blade. The teeth of the saw could not create friction to cut through the pipe. The insulation likely did have Kevlar since a knife could not cut it. If you had high temperature material with these properties, seems like maybe a solution that would work on just about any car.

Had an attempted theft of my cats on my 02 sequoia a lil while back, helped that we were asleep 10ish feet away from the rig and heard the commotion before they could get too far, the pipes still have the scar but still are intact. Going to be going the skid plate route with mine hopefully after taxes come back and also there is a law now on the books as of the 1st that makes it very had for those guys to sell the cats as well
My 2003 sequoia Catalytic converter looks different from yours. Is it an OEM? My cats has only 1 canister and no fins compared to yours that has the fins and 2 canisters. I painted it a few months ago and got hit a few days ago. They cut into it but realize it was painted and backed off. I had to get it welded. Today i added the metal rope and tied it down like yours too hopefully they don't strike again. Awesome tutorial.
Wow that was a close one. I'm glad the paint stopped the thiefs in their tracks. The cats on my sequoia where stolen over 10 years ago in California. They did have to weld some other Toyota cats to the exhaust. The OEM cats where currently unavliable. So they look a little diffrent. The theft of cats come in waves but this time seems to be lot more than previous. The bright side is you only have to weld where they started to cut it. Thank you for sharing. It's good to know that the detterent works..

Scrap yards wont touch them if they are painted. The cops will confiscate them and the scrap yard wont be reimbursed. Lose lose situation for the scrap yard.
They just stole both cats from my wife’s 02’ Sequoia right from the parking garage at her job today! I am pretty pissed off about it. We love our trucks. I have an 06 Tundra double cab as well. I am definitely going to have to take extra measures to protect these trucks because they are targeted for their ease of access because the stock ground clearance. Does it matter what color you paint them or did you just do yellow because it calls attention? Was thinking red? Any facts or opinions on this are welcome. Thanks for making this vid ✊

No one is going to steal those aftermarket ones your good ;) you should only do this if you have OEM catalytic converters
Well the fact that the originals were stolen over a decade ago and replaced by toyota doesn't mean they won't get stolen again.

I've looked for the skid plates with no luck. All sold out nobody makes them anymore.

You can use yellow or red. Just make sure you get the 1200° header paint. It will last alot longer.
If they are going to steal my CatCons, They can have some decency to replace them with straight pipes.
Why not just bolt a steel plate under the cat so they can't get to it without spending a heap of time undoing all the bolts.
