You might want to take the cable and go up the pipe a little further they can still cut it 4 inches up from the cat. If the cable runs the length of the exhaust they’ll look for another car. Just wanted to help. Great video!
I like this 86! Bought the orange VHT Flame Proof spray paint at AdvanceAutoParts earlier today, then saw your video. Going to paint and etch VIN numbers on my 4Runner and the wife’s Avalon Hybrid. Might try the cabling with red Loctite on the nut if I can find a hole to pass the bolt through. I’ve watched a lot of videos and short of welding crap all over the exhaust system or buying a $400 theft deterrent skid plate, this seems to be the most practical solution. Thanks for the vid, liked and subbed!

Good luck getting to it... is a crackhead going to have a nice pair of bolt cutters with them anyways.I have the cats painted yellow. Wrapped in aircraft cable and also have a skid plate with cat protectors. No one has attempted to take them and good luck if you try.. :)
@@munnday86 thanks. Question, a guy on yt painted his cc black. I think to make it harder to see. Along with other measures. What do you think of that, the black
I don't get what the yellow paint does but you would think that if they already had the power tools to cut your cat off in a few seconds then why would they not just cut the cable aswell.
Because they usually just bring sawzall and it'd get stuck, if they had large cable cutters or grinder with them it would be time consuming to cut all the cables to get to the conv. It would probably be a good idea to run twice as many cables as shown on that video and hook them together to existing ones and to parts of the car, also use razor wire as well as cable.
I think the bigger picture here is the thieves will see this as an extra step, most times at least in my area they go car to car doing this. If they see this most likely they will just go the next car.
You can paint them any color you want. I would look for the header paint. I think its rated at 1200°. I noticed some of mine was already flaking off in spots.
You don’t use a reciprocating saw. Angular grinder / hydraulic cutter will cut your wire in seconds. I also used bolt cutters to cut such wires. No reason to unbolt cats unless it’s time to replace. Which is at least In another 100k miles. Also nuts are very accessible when it’s time to unbolt. . It won’t be a problem. What u put there is better than nothing. Any protection is still good. Good job.
@@tcjha6250 most of the time its just a inconvenience thing. If its gonna take a few seconds longer they usually pass. My wife worked for a medical transport company and only one had a protected cat. They passed on that car and cut the 2 on both sides of the vehicle.
Once you splice the rope you can easily unwind it so that bolt in the cross member doesn’t do much protection. Pulling out cats will be very easy afterwards. 2 more cuts and it’s out.
The cable is bolted to the crossmember and its wrapped around a bunch of times.it Will take a while to get out. Might be more trouble than the thief's are will to do.

Right when you said cut it off with a cutoff wheel, I agree. That's what the thieves will do in a matter of minutes.

how easy/difficult is it to cut those wires with a good cutting pliers?
Very easy to cut . This is not a good fix. I had to weld 3/4” rebar plus painted with 2000f paint plus had to build a custom cage.
