- Welcome to June! This is the month where I embark on my summer project: The Summer of Bottles. My goal is to use every ink bottle in my stash in a pen over the course of three months leading up to the San Francisco Pen Show. I want to see all the inks I have in pens, I want to identify all the bottles I am ready to pass along to someone else, and above all I want to have fun.

I really love the tanto grind on my sailor music nib. It has worked out so well. It's a wet wet writer that handles the glitters well and isn't 5 miles wide.
I am currently drawn to just my regular round tips and wonder if I should just have someone do that? I still need to have a good think about it.
“Jowo holder” pens, so appropriate. Make me realize that a lot of my pens are in this category. I would love to do, or see, a blind testing to see if one can distinguish between Jowo and other steel nib.
And maybe even gold nibs. Like some of the other commenters, I am in awe of your origination. As I struggle, in a fun way, to devise a consistent writing sample for my inks. Thanks for the video.
I actually like your projects. They are realistic and feasible. I definitely am not well organised with my inks or FPs. And I have soo many ink bottles accumulated over the years that I actually don't even know how many I have; and to be honest it overwhelms me to even think about them. But your approach is something I can tweek and make my own project. For me that can be a winter project hopefully. Even if I can go through a couple of brands it would be great. And I can separate the ones for writing and those for drawing/painting(like Celadon Cat that I personally like but it is too light of a colour for my eyes in writing form) Thanks for all the ideas! Your way of taking things step by step somehow resonates with my brain 😅
Wow! Celadon cat really did look super dark out of the Scribo. I have Lamy pink cliff in a cartridge and love it.
All of those ink colours look so good together! This project is such a good idea.
This is a wonderful idea. I am currently on my own challenge to use 103 of the fpens (I have set some rules to keep me on track) in my collection by Dec 24th this year. It includes review points and opportunities to window shop/ low buy along the way. I am learning more about my taste in this pastime and also embracing that they can/ will change as I go through my challenge. Your idea neatly fits into the "use what I have" space. Great project! I really enjoy your prefects- you go really deep and give a ton of information and opinion.
Interesting results with the inks! I will keep in my mind the Blackberry for the (dry) 3776. I had the Blackberry ink in a „normal“ pen and I didn’t like to see only sheen, I miss the purple! 💜I hesitated on the new dark lilac and I thinks it’s very similar in sheen intensity.
I read a lot that Celadon Cat is a dry ink- maybe I’m lucky, so far it’s way wetter than my beloved Shin-Kai and in my „normal wetness“ category.
It's not as dry as I had expected it to be, but it's definitely not extremely wet.
Lately I seem to be writing only with my Sailor PGS Mini. I've been needing to write really small, and this small pen seems to encourage that. Now I just need to find the driest ink in the world, for writing in paperback books without bleeding through.
I think I'd opt for a uni jetstream to write in paperback books. Hope you find a good ink and have success!
