A lot of risk mixing family and business. Certainly not in every case. But may not be worth finding out. Sometimes it's better keeping at least some portion of business life and personal life separate.
How do we know. When the pandemic forced everyone to stay at home. Real, real tough on marriages. Does it mean that sometimes a break from all the common things in our life is good? Yep. You *_can_* make a pre-assessment of the risk. "If something goes wrong, it could put the relationship at risk. Do I value the relationship to such a high degree - that I do not want to lose it?"
Another pre-assessment before you bring family into your business: look around at your extended family. Is it in the genes in your family that being together all the time and making business decisions has shown to be fine? Or have some of your family members split up? Perhaps over even smaller things than "being together all day every day"
I've had friends and family want to get involved. I tell them "no - I value our relationship too much, I'm not going to put our relationship at risk"
If you think you can tolerate something failing in a business endeavor AND a bad relationship event at the same time - it's not easy. It's not fun either. And it can take a long time to play out.

Beautiful couple! 😍 Find someone you can not only just chill with but also someone you can build an empire with - because the best way to love someone is to help them reveal the greatest version of themselves. This is why I'm so lucky to have Bran not only as my boyfriend, but also my greatest partner! We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. We just graduated college as well. We started a cookie shop out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night. We were living in our car in the parking lot of the shop at the time with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

Wow. The relationship you and Elena have has re-newed my view on women and marriage. As a young entreprenuer, I had a negative viewpoint on women. That they only want my money and just waiting for the opportunity for a money grab. But this video single-handedly changed my thoughts. I love this story. I broke up with my gf but the most of time I thought she was the one. After 2 years of living in California, I left the state and drove 5 days to Florida where I don't know anyone and anything. But it was my target - to get more and continue to work on my business. By the way, I was born and raised in Russia and I've been living in the US a bit more than 2 years. When I came to the country, I didn't understand English and every day was so hard. Now I feel much better and even I have pain in my heart after my last relationship, I'm still looking to the future. Keep going guys! Everything gonna be cool
