Im glad you walked back on refusing to use stress bonding, we found your channel from that video and we were unsuccsessful with our bonding when using only calming or kinder methods and we figured we must be doing something wrong. Stress bonding was what finally worked for us and it's important bunny owners are aware of it. Our bunnies finally started bonding when we boarded them with an experienced pet owner. The change of environment and stress of travel worked wonders, plus the boarder was very good with bunnies and helped us a lot
this is so helpful and encouraging. I have lost hope in bonding my 2 males. But will definitely look into stress bonding and try again. Fingers crossed
Hello did you manage to do it ? I have to neutered males myself and it seems impossible to bond them, they fought a lot so we separated them, they each have their side of the house.
Thank you SO much for showing the good, the bad and the ugly parts of bonding!! I can’t believe it’s taken me two weeks to find this but now I’m starting over with a new plan!!! You are the first video on bonding I’ve found that shows the mistakes, we as bun lovers, make. I honestly can’t thank you enough for this real look at bonding
it's definitely stressful 😭 mine used to get along so well, but one of them got sick and we had to take her to the vet, and now the other one can't stand her being around :(
This is great. Just some additional advice for anyone else bonding rabbits: DO NOT USE BARE HANDS. If a true fight breaks out even the gentlest of rabbits will bite a hand that comes between them or grabs them. Their eye sight is bad and all the know is that they are under attack and something has appeared and is either in their face threatening them or grabbing their body. The bites in this state aren't little nips, they can require stitches. If you have two people around and you want to pet them with your bare hand that can be fine, but make sure the other person is ready with oven mitts or other thick gloves on.
Yes that I do agree. When my two bunnies got into a fight, I reacted really quickly and grab the one bunny and he bit me really really hard to the point where he actually took off my little skin on my hand. I never went to the hospital so I don’t think I needed stitches but it left a big scar on my hand. So yes do not use bare hands 😂
This is a great video explaining how a bunny bond can break and it’s good also how you show all the mistakes so people can learn for example not having full and complete control over the bunnies’ movements towards each other. Well done 💕🐰💕
BEST VIDEO!!!!!! We are on day 10 and our life sucks 😂😭😭😭 one bunny has a fat split lip and this is killing us. Ours are brother and sister too. We had then\m fixed and separated to long…thank you for hope. ❤❤❤
I just found your channel by sheer luck and I'm glad I did. I have a pair of bunnies who just broke their baby bond at 4 months and I was getting nervous about the process to rebond them after they are spayed this coming October/November. They are sisters from the same litter, they can still see each other but they are separated now until after their spay and after healing. Thank you for the educational videos. I am also so sorry to read/watch about the passing of Bunmi and Turbo, they were lucky to have you as their bun mom. I hope the current pair is doing well and hope you and the family are doing well
We have four rabbits, none of whom will bond with the other. Our most dominant is a female who will go after any rabbit in her space. There is one male she tolerates but they are both caged all the time. They can see each other through their cages and the female will eat the hay protruding from his hay supply. The male will groom the female through their cages but that's as good as it gets. It took a solid year before the female would accept my wife. It took two years for me to even get close to her. Since these are rescue rabbits we don't know their history and bonding may not be in the cards. I'm glad your re-bonding efforts worked out and I think it's better for the rabbits to be mates.
Oh my goodness! I had no idea how lucky we have been so far! Still, we watched the whole video so that we will know what to do should this happen with Cocoa and Frodo. Thank you.
Thank you!!! Thank you with all my heart 🤗 We just had the first table session and it went very well. You gave us a lot of hope that our girls will be best friends again ❤️
Update: yesterday we took them to an neutral space and was the first time after so much time that they stayed toghether without attacking each other but kissing each other. Then we took they home and (big mistake from which we learned a lot) we left them in the kitchen for about an hour and after an hour they started to fight, no damage, we separated them as soon as they started and put them on the table to end the day in a good mode. We continue to work with them and hope that soon we will get better results :)
i have had a very similar experience with my rabbits ( they just celebrated their 5th birthday this week ) down to how their bonds broke. Our male got sick and had to be put on antibiotics which is what we think made our Female no longer like him due to the new or changed smell. it took around 3 months of convincing her and she FINALLY came back around to him. we didn't really make them interact at all to begin with, keeping the male in the living room and main indoor hutch, and the female in the dining room and the secondary hutch ( they are free roam indoors but we keep hutches inside for them to sleep in ). we let them just have small but frequent interactions on their own terms for around 2 months and on the third month we supervised them together with no fence between them. although it took a long time it was 100% worth it and they have never been happier together. I think the worst part was that our male got super depressed as he probably didn't understand why the female disliked him :( so we had to make sure that someone was always with him and playing. I think that shows that rabbits should 100% be bonded, seeing how sad he became was horrible
Thank you for this video, and for sharing not just your successes but also mistakes! I’m in a similar situation where my buns’s bond broke so I’ll be sure to use your tips!
Thank you for showing the progress and process, i have two buns - one lop and one regular rabbit and the rabbit was abused so she is very irritated. They had one good bond day and then the next week their bond broke again. We are still in the process now trying to restart and i was giving up, but this was so inspirational ❤️

This is a good video on how not to bond bunnies. OK she managed it in the end and hats off to her admitting some mistakes. Just sad she didnt do the number one think of neutral teritory first, this caused much more stress than necessary. If you haven't done hours of research and are 100% confident of the right techniques, please ask a local bunny rescue to do it for you, and follow their advise on how to continue it when they are home. Again hats off to her for her honesty in this video.

Great video. I like how you adjust fire and try another technique! I have heard SO many times that you should never stress bond in a carrier (or anywhere else) but I don't know why people make such a fuss. If done carefully and as only one part of an overall bonding routine, I think it makes sense.
Yes I was listening to the wrong group of people! “Never stress bond blah blah”. If you get down to the nuts and bolts of it, bonding ITSELF is stressful on them but necessary

@@Butterfly-mt5ml that's a lot of theory out there some says male and female is easiest and some says it doesn't matter. Lots of animal shelter/rescues do "speed dating" service. That way you can talk to the staff at the rescue who often are very well educated in the manner. You can also see if your rabbit get along with the potential partner. Positive sign to look for in the first date are - being curious about each other like sniffing, humping, nipping that doesn't turn into fights, kisses (if you are very lucky) or ignoring is also good in some case. Probably harder if they're start fighting and lots of chasing once they see each other.
Most of the time rabbits at rescues are all fixed unless they are too young, so that also makes things easier. Plus they can tell you the temperament of the bun, which actually can varies quite a lot as you will learn as you seek out new buns, and so you can also take that into account if it will be a good match for you and your bun.
Hi there I'm going through the exact same thing now with my rabbits. Did you use one carrier for the car ride to your parents or separate carriers? Thank you for your time. Our bunny bond broke due to vet visits as well...ugh
This is helpful as I have an aggressive bunny and am hoping once he settles down more we can try the 'table bonding' and hopefully can get somewhere but also did reach out to a rescue that offers a bonding service so waiting for that response as well
This is exactly exactly exactly …my bunnies right now, it’s so frustrating ! They had a baby bond but now they are fighting like crazy. Mines neutered now 2 weeks. Attempting to rebond in 4. They would backward mount and then the other would nip the genitals. It was terrifying. They are both boys. One of mine is sweet but he is the mounter. The other just doesn’t like it. :( it’s so sad seeing them like this. It happens so fast you can’t even catch or separate them.- Thankyou for this video. Exactly what I needed to watch xx Did you put them back in separate pens when you were sleeping after successfully bonded? Or left together overnight / not at home.
I slept next outside for 2 nights, one when they were sharing a pen and another with them roaming. Since they had no problems, I packed the pens away and let them roam!
I have 3 buns! 1 was sick with pneumonia, and lost 2.5 lbs! That’s alot for a 6 pound bun! I had to separate her from her sisters while she got better, and now I’m trying to re-bond them and it’s been stressful for me!
This was a really good video, we just got a second rabbit and when we introduced our current rabbit to the new one at the rabbit shelter the two hit it off wonderfully but today (very next day) they started fighting. You talk about doing the table bonding and stress bonding for 5-15 minutes. My question is is that done once a day or multiple times a day but spread out throughout the day? And if it’s spread throughout the day how many times per day do you recommend doing the table bonding?
I really really hope that I can be successful when I try to get my boy a friend. I'm so scared it won't work out. I don't think he's really bonded to me yet either.
I’m surprised the bond was broken by one bunny being briefly absent for a vet visit. Is this common? My worry is if I successfully bond my three bunnies the bond will break resulting in injuries. My bunnies have adjacent very large pens and seem to love one another but are prone to fighting without the pens separating them. I hope to bond them but am nervous about the task especially with three.
I actually wondered about this.....any advice on how to recite this? It's so stressful right now with my 1.5 year olds fighting after being so connected. They just got spayed 2 weeks ago.
Thank you for your advice!! I'm 4 days into the process and some sessions go well and some not so well. However, neither of my two have shown aggression like Bunmi did on those first few days, which makes me feel a lot more hopeful! Mine usually just ignore eachother but every now and again one of them will chase/lightly nip the other.. I'm never sure how short/long to keep their sessions. If they're doing good do I just let it continue, or should I keep it timed regardless of how it's going? I know this bonding takes time but this is definitely the best video I've came across yet! I appreciate the honesty, and would like to try avoid stress bonding if possible. Very glad Bunmi and Turbo are happy now! Thank you again:)
Hi, I know that this comment is old enough that this is probably not relevant, but if they are doing good and you have time, it is fine for sessions to last longer. Ideally, things would go at the rabbit's pace. That means that some aggressive couples will need to start with very short sessions while rabbits like yours could benefit from longer sessions. However, the important thing is to end on a positive note, so if your rabbits do fight/engage in negative behaviours you want to wait it out until they have a break or demonstrate positive behaviour again.
I love your videos. Its giving me abit of hope. I have 2 buns female and male but the female is only 5 weeks post neuter. Iv beem told by fb group to wait til 8 weeks as i have been trying to bond them and 2 sessions was good but then they started fighting and they wont stop. I used stress bonding in the bath as there isnt any other neutral space in my apartment but was told to stop. Never thought bonding would be so frustrating. No idea where to start now
Hi there! Thank you so much for this video, very helpful. 😊Your Instagram link seems broken, please do share an updated one. Would love to follow you there. ❤
My bun Teddy attacked his girl counterpart pretty badly a few months ago and we couldnt keep her because of it. She had to get stitches, so it was very unfortunate. We are bunny dating him now with another boy bun and their first date went ok today, but Teddy is still showing aggression toward the new bun. I intervened immediately before any behaviors could escalate, but we saw mostly lunging/growling and thumping. The other one hasn't reacted at all and seems to just want to be Teddy's friend, but I'm really not sure how to continue. I dont want Teddy to hurt this new bun, especially since we havent adopted him and we're just dating to see how they might do. I thought about stress bonding but it TERRIFIES me to put them in a tiny carrier together where I cant break up a fight if I need to :( How did your buns do with the stress bonding in the car? I love your videos btw!!
I have a question if anyone could help please? I have to bonded (ex bonded 😢) bunnies, both neutered, male and female. My male has been to the vet for ear problems, have a solution to administer 2 times daily, 1 for my female bun. He has started being aggressive towards my girl 😟 Do I need to keep them separated until he’s better before trying to re bond? Only problem I have is that I am away in 2 weeks for a holiday and they’re staying in a bunny hotel. Any advice would greatly appreciate x
I have a bun like bunmi and she is very aggressive towards my other bun. I can never bond them, and I had her for a year and a half now. She was my 2nd bun. I just kept them separated since I can't bond them🥺.
What do you think with bonding two male bunnies? I have a 1.5 year old bunny( neutered)and my coworker gave me her 4 month old male bunny( who I will neuter once he turns 5.5 months.
Ok I’m moving and have 2 sets of bonded rabbits. They’ve seen each other but at a distance, they’re separated by levels of our house. What do you think the likelihood of either sets bond breaking because of the move might be? I’m a little bit worried about this. Thank you for sharing this!! 🥰
As long as you keep them pairs together as much as possible (put the two buns in one carrier) then they *should be fine* Try to bring as much of their old scent from their area at your old place to your new place as you can
@@BunsBestLife thank you! I figured they’d be ok but I’m worried. It’s a pain to take them to the vet together every time but I was warned about that one early on. Bonding once was terrifying enough for me to strictly adhere to the advice 😂 I figured we’d be ok but just wAnted to check. Hope these beautiful babies are doing well xoxo & Merry Christmas🥰
here a male ex rabbit and a female ex rabbit of 4 months and 2 years fighting a lot I'm going to try it like you did they went back into the run separately after they were with your parents?
I lost my bunny a month and a half ago and my remaining bunny was heartbroken so we got her a bunny friend but she just was too heartbroken and passed away so now the bunny we got for her needed a friend so we recently got a pair of already bonded rabbits and I will admit I think I put them together too fast because she seemed to like him at the beginning but then started hitting him and attacking the bars to get to him so we have to split them up and I'm hoping we can eventually get them together and bonded 🤞🤞
I'm no expert but from the research Ive done they all say neutering is best before bonding because it just calms them down so I would say neutering is better to try and bond bunnies
As a bunny owner from Germany I am quite surprised/shocked about this process. To be honest all the steps before you started "stress bonding" are seen as mistakes over here. If you put a fence between them, aggressions can build up and make bonding even harder. It is common knowledge over here that if you wanna bond rabbits (no matter if for the first time or rebonding) you have to put them in a neutral territory which none of them has ever been before. Give neutral hidey houses (e.g. out of cardboard boxes) and several food places. They will start fighting over the rank order. It can look quite brutal as in ripped out fur etc but do not separate them. It is normal for them to chase and bite or mount each other. This process can take from a day up to several weeks. During this time they should stay in that new environment 24/7. Only intervene/separate when absolute necessary and if you do, use something like oven mitts as protection for your hands. It is also normal for them to not be litter trained during that time and even spray urine to mark their territory. When putting them back in their original habitat it is advised to clean all their toys etc with watered down apple cider vinegar to get rid of the smell from before the (re-)bonding and rearrange everything so it seems new to them. I mean no offense I was just so taken aback by this video that I wanted to share this view as well.
Please bunny owners! Dont do alot of the things she did in the beginning!.I no she said she made mistakes but You ALWAYS Want to make sure both bunnies are always in a Neutral place (where neither bunny has been) to bond because it will cause more aggressive behavior. And it's much better to bond on a floor like tile/linoleum..just not carpet also please PLEASE do your Research and find 2 to 3 different ways to bond bunnies so you will already no the dos/don'ts of the process and another plan if the 1st dont work. Also do your research about bunnies BEFORE adopting a bunny. OR ANY pet! So you know what to expect and u wont be surprised later and then find out the pet isn't for you, then theres another pet being neglected/abandoned/homeless/ Rehomed etc..... also research (healthy) treats/food for the pet and DON'T TRUST WHAT A PETSTORE TELLS YOU! They only tell you things you need or should buy so they can Sell more product..they dont care about you pet getting healthy stuff!.. there are youtubers that walk you through these things. Lennon the bunny, shes Great and cares Etc....
Going thru this now. Their bond broke down fast. My gurl is very jealous and Blu is getting spay soon which is definitely going to make this more challenging. Blueberry is very aggressive to little Romeo aka Agent Spicy Hay who is younger also neutered. Only got him (both rescues) cuz she was very depressed with no other rabbits around. She seems to really like to bully him. Would really like to free roam but, she's making it very difficult. Will be a long journey.

Our bunny bond broke due to vet visits as well...ugh
Thank you for sharing your story. Such helpful information. I'm in the same boat with my two buns and this will be welcomed information for me to use.
I didn't realize that rabbit bonds could break so easily.
Some optimism that my girls will bond again
This was a really good video, we just got a second rabbit and when we introduced our current rabbit to the new one at the rabbit shelter the two hit it off wonderfully but today (very next day) they started fighting. You talk about doing the table bonding and stress bonding for 5-15 minutes. My question is is that done once a day or multiple times a day but spread out throughout the day? And if it’s spread throughout the day how many times per day do you recommend doing the table bonding?
I really really hope that I can be successful when I try to get my boy a friend. I'm so scared it won't work out. I don't think he's really bonded to me yet either.
some bunnies take a little more time, good luck 😘
My 2 male had a very good bonding from start, but after i got one neutered then the neutered one get aggressive 😓 whenever he sees another one 😓
Hi, what kind of pen is that? I am also looking for a pen that can be open in the middle. Did they ever try to nip each other through the bars?
Wow that’s amazing
Is Turbo an English Spot? I really love your video!!!
Should you really force them to bond if they don’t get along at all, won’t the bond just break again?
I’m surprised the bond was broken by one bunny being briefly absent for a vet visit. Is this common? My worry is if I successfully bond my three bunnies the bond will break resulting in injuries. My bunnies have adjacent very large pens and seem to love one another but are prone to fighting without the pens separating them. I hope to bond them but am nervous about the task especially with three.
Bunmi my sassy girl
Doesn't table bonding also "kinda" classify as light stress bonding given that they are afraid of heights? Anyway great video

yes, I address it here
Hoonoponopono works really well with rabbits ..
Does anyone know what that round hay thing is at 9:02 ?
Did you get them both neutered ?
I have a question if anyone could help please?
I have to bonded (ex bonded 😢) bunnies, both neutered, male and female.
My male has been to the vet for ear problems, have a solution to administer 2 times daily, 1 for my female bun.
He has started being aggressive towards my girl 😟
Do I need to keep them separated until he’s better before trying to re bond?
Only problem I have is that I am away in 2 weeks for a holiday and they’re staying in a bunny hotel.
Any advice would greatly appreciate x
When you start bonding your rabbits how old were they?
Very informative video. Very helpful. To me bonding my 2 girls are very stresfull.. Im always scared they will hurt each other... 😭😭
As long as you keep them pairs together as much as possible (put the two buns in one carrier) then they *should be fine*
Try to bring as much of their old scent from their area at your old place to your new place as you can
I'd imagine as long as they stay together the whole time, they should be okay and keep some of their old litter/bedding for the new place
@@paigenorkus7047 that was the plan but I’m super worried. Thank you!! 🥰🐇
I’m in the same situation right now
may i ask are they neutered? I am still considering that
I'm no expert but from the research Ive done they all say neutering is best before bonding because it just calms them down so I would say neutering is better to try and bond bunnies
Are they spayed and neutered?.
I too am having same problem after fixing my boy’s then girls 😢😭😭😭😭
❤
Are they males or a female-male couple?
Social engineering is even worse than Social Entrepreneurship
Hi have 2 one is 4 month other 8 week both girls
I so sad that your bonding did go well
I hope they skinn each other
Please bunny owners!
Cosa erratissima a metterli vicini il secondo giorno 😒😒
Going thru this now. Their bond broke down fast. My gurl is very jealous and Blu is getting spay soon which is definitely going to make this more challenging.
Blueberry is very aggressive to little Romeo aka Agent Spicy Hay who is younger also neutered.
Only got him (both rescues) cuz she was very depressed with no other rabbits around. She seems to really like to bully him. Would really like to free roam but, she's making it very difficult.
Will be a long journey.
