I got the point. Francis is worried about if we are going to repeat the history and downfall of Rome because we haven't matured or gotten any smarter or better as human beings better in all these millenia. Back in the day of the Romans, this kind of behavior was paramount.
The film is clearly over your head. It's different. It's offbeat. It's most definitely unconventional in its presentation and delivery. It possesses supreme visuals. Some call it a mess and say it's unbalanced. It is, in fact, a beautiful mess and is perfectly unbalanced. It's a Francis Ford Coppola masterpiece.
@@LoganLikesMovies Some things aren't for the majority. This film was always destined to have more of a cult following. Mark my words, in time, Megalopolis will be looked back upon way more kindly than it is today. People tend to be more appreciative retrospectively than when something so polarizing is first released.
Vibes of Ayn Rand and Fritz Lang.
Totally agree, aesthetically it was really well put together and made me want to watch Metropolis again
It was a valuable lesson to find out that Coppola is a cameraman. He has formed his own intellectual world from Bartlett’s quotes.

Personally, I think a movie is CLEARLY doing something wrong if it’s been “over” so many people’s heads
