To those who are saying this is a waste and they shouldn't be doing this, it's likely that none of these combines were worth trying to put into the field agian, and if they are going to the junk yard you might as well have some fun with them.
I also felt some pain seeing them smashed up, rolled over, and rammed into repeatedly, and I'm not against restoring some of them but tons of machines are restored all the time and it's hard to find someone willing to put the time and money into a restoration so even if these did not go to a derby, most of them would have likely sat and rotted away into the weeds.

As a small Northern Michigan farmer, I'm a bit pissed. Those are(were) all serviceable pieces of equipment. I know that Iowans and Indiana and the such have thousands and thousands of old combines that they don't use anymore but shit, those machines can still help make food. That's what I make, not money.
