You did get the good, true ending! In the bad ending (which is if you don't beat all the secret bosses and Erlang), the golden band is put on your head again and the Wukong's shackles are never broken. You also don't get the final animation. Erlang Shen and Wukong conspired to rebel against the Heavens and the Jade Emperor together, for different reasons, which is why Wukong dies at the beginning. He knew that he could not take the headband off any other way, so he basically killed himself so a worthy successor could gather his relics and break the cycle. Erlang himself has no love for the Jade Emperor and rebels against him - though in a more subtle way than Wukong - so he and the Brothers of Meishan (Erlang's sworn brothers) help the Monkey King (that's why some of the bosses mention "I tested you at my brother's behest"). Erlang always had trouble understanding Wukong's obsession with freedom, even in the book (hence the "I've been thinking about you since that day" and later, after you beat him, "now I understand that fight") but his fight with the Destined One, who has inherited Wukong's uncaged, untamed spirit finally helps him understand.
Your use of the relics reminds me of my first playthrough where I missed the gourd master and played through until chapter 4 before I looked up what the green wisps did which took me on a search to find him discovering I missed him and could have been having an easier time through the first 3 and a half chapters
So the thing is in intro wukong and erlang was partner.Wukong telled erlang to fight with him and keep his sixth relic (mind) in his third eyes when wukong killed himself all of 6 relix was seperated from him and gived each yaoguais but none other than erlang knew what happened his Mind , that old monkey from the beginning and the end game area cutscene was working for buddha thats why he tried to put the golden band on you , the point is wukong knew he cant take that band off by himself so he killed himself and late us found his relics and become him if you dont do the secret ending you dont get his mind therefore you dont know your purpose and wear the band and recycle the whole thing , but if you do the secret ending you get his mind and right before wearing band you remember and dont wear it and thats what wukong wanted.So you missed a lots of thing in chap 6 there was least 3 or 4 mini stone boss 1 giant stone boss 1 frog boss and in chapter 4 you missed a frog boss and a key item for giant stone boss quest.
I think you got wukongs memories from erlang wukong said the head bamd was makeing the haven control him in some way so erlang made you not take the head band which was what wukong wanted

The only thing I thought they could have done more of was combos. Pressing square can get old. So some variation could have been nice. I love the game. On my 3rd play through. And closing on the platinum. Great game, I hope the team are proud of what they accomplished.
And after doing secret ending you get the sixth relic mind you can choose its power it has so cool things and in ng+ you get another spell called last stands its basically sekiro s second health bar mechanics its passive and have a Cooldown plus you can upgrade it with skill to get your gourd mana focus points and etc
I managed to beat all of the final bosses phases from start to finish in one try, the. I watched my brother play it’s and it literally took him multiple days to beat him 😂. Just glad I was lucky and beat him when I did.
the fight with erlang was a bitch but I had more fun fighting malenia, also you got the true ending as the band was put on the head of the destined one, if you didn't fight all the secret bosses and finished the game you would have gotten the ending where the band goes on the head, if you do decide to go and play new game + more on the 7th run you get wukongs staff where it's red
