IT IS MY AGE ERA From 1948 to1969 In other words we enjoyed 19 days every year first It was 9 days festival what we call in Kaanada as GOVUTSAVA details hereunder Everyday by 4 30 or 5 in the evening poojas started from the temple on the left gate opposite the present Mysore City corporation office and a Procession started duly participated by the. Palace belongings such as cows horses elephants Band sets such other palace belongings marching on a fixed route inside the palace premises and the crowds mostly SEVAKS of WADEYARS like me standing on both sides of the roads enroute inside the palace premises amidst chanting of songs and Namaskarams with both hands till the end of the Procession concludes at the designated place where the Procession actually started After 9 days of this festival there starts the biggest festival of the world with 4 or 5 days break THE GREAT MYSORE DASARA WADEYARS FESTIVAL OF 10 Days OH What an atmosphere MYSORE CITY ON THOSE 10 DAYS Are beyond ones imagination 1st day started with Maharaja sorry he is living God as for as Agraharam population is concerned comes to the DUNBAR HALL CLIMB THE SIMHASANA and stands with salute exactly at 11 in the morning and you hear the gun salute marking the start of the 10 day Dasara Till the day of Ayudha pooja Everyday our God used to come to the Dunbar hall and stand on the throne at 7 in the night with salute and the Band set singing KAAYUOSRI GOWRI KARUNA LAHARI After this Maharaja sat on the throne for 1 hour daily giving the imams to the audience specially present there with Dunbar Dress which is a treat to watch with no where in the world one has seen this in their life Further I am unable to detail the Grand Ness of AYUDHA POOJA AND MAHARAJA S PROCESSION SINCE I WANT A TIME OF MINIMUM 3 HOURS THANKS MY FRIENDS

Liked watching all traditions, excepting the wrestling part.of it.......also, the future generations, can start decreasing use of animals in their traditional rituals, with the advent of automobiles, it is sensible to adopt modern ways of showing our culture...... I belong to the erstwhile class near Mangalirr, in our home town, there is a huge lake known as "Aanaekerae" ( literally meaning "elephant lake"in kannada) ... where our predecessors used the lake only for the purpose of bathing elephants,...... Today, we ni no longer see a single elephant, nor many bullocks( bullock cart, used to be another common mode of transport for royals) as agriculture has switched onto modern technology......... .. I just keep wondering, why don't they convert parts of every palace & other bungloes they own into weekend getaway homestsys fir the public..... Price them at nominal affordable rates,, they are sure to have regular clentells all the year round..... Short budgeted weekend getsways are fast catching up in India..... People, especially, working professionals love to have a good change during weekends.......

I agree with the less use of animals. But renting out the palace premises is not allowed as it's under acquisition by the state government.

Democracy & Corrupt politicians have taken Karnataka & our Country to dogs. Please make a podcast as to how our country can b saved from corruption & efficient administration provided. Can you please make a podcast on building a better tomorrow, provide NEET / IAS / IPS / Bank / Railway / Competitive Exam coaching to the poor? Can you make a podcast on establishing a skill development cenyre where the poorest of poor gets trained & gets a Good job. If such activities are done the Souls of eminent Mysore kings like Nalvadi KRW & Kanteerava NRW will remain in Eternal Peace.

Though very delayed, Varchus, I liked the whole narration. I still have green memories of your illustrious father, my great friend Sardar Lakshmikanyha Raje urs, and Rajakumari Meenakshi Devi avaru adorning the palace and was fortunate to visit the palace.
The canine block and the stable of cars of the late Mahsraja of Mysore Jayacamaraja Wadayar followed by late Maharaja Srikantadutta Wadayar were a sight to cherish with rare breed of dogs and Rolls-Royce and the limousine Austins. Those days cars were few and I had the pleasure of traveling in some of them when Sardar Lakshmikantha Raje Urs used to come to.my house in chamarajapuram in one of this beauties.
So much in memories , difficult to put in words.
Your narratives have brought it live and I thank you for taking me back 50 years ago.
