Yo good looking on the hole on the frame rail. Going to change my water pump on my ep3 tomorrow. Not sure if it has the same hole on the side but definitely going to check it.
So the leak was coming from the water pump gasket? I have the same noise and my coolant leaks fully after a month.I bought my 8th gen si a couple months ago and there was really no maintenance done to it .
Starting to get a faint sound like this, thinking of getting the parts for the job before it completely blows. What parts do you recommend? I wanna go OEM to make sure I don’t have to get this done again
@@slowcarboireally depends how much you’re leaking. I probably leak half a gallon every few hundred miles so I top it off after like 500 miles. I need to do this asap cause coolant aint cheap 😭
I used blue coolant for Hondas. You can get it at the dealership or buy online . Check my links in the description. They also sell blue coolant at Walmart
Would you happen to know if the water pump has anything to do with my heating system? So mine is currently leaking. I’m from Massachusetts so mornings here are freezing. I’ll let my car warm up for about 20 minutes and my heat is cold still. If you can help me I’d appreciate it
Does your heater eventually get hot? It can be an issue if there’s air bubbles in the system , that can cause the coolant to not flow smoothly throughout the system
@@danielchhliv2956 You have a coolant issue or a heater core issue. Since you say it's leaking you have a coolant issue. Hot coolant is what gives you heat through the heater core and then the blower motor to your cabin. You must be low. I wouldn't let your car warm up for 20 mins either. Engine comes to operating temp faster while driving feathering the throttle. Letting it idle cold for that long just wear out your valve train and bearings. Plus you're just dumping fuel until the exhaust is warm enough for the O2 sensor to read and get the correct A/F ratio. Just a few things you should know
Rinse your heater core. Sometimes they get bullshit in them I think the last owner of mine put stop leak in the system, and I have to backwash my heater core every year. Also, my water pump went.
I drove it for a bit but it started clacking louder and started leaking so I ended up changing it. But sadly the gates brand pump only lasted like 20k miles i suggest getting an oem one
Yoo that hole haha hell yes thanks that will come in handy! Changed mine a few thousand miles ago and now it's leaking so something went wrong or my new pump already crapped out?? Whatchu think maybe happened?
Np make sure the gasket is seated correctly and maybe it’s leaking from the pipe that’s goes into the water pump. It has a oring. What brand pump did you use ?
@@HustlePaul thanks for quick reply man...I will check the outlet pipe to for that oring....did you replace that? People are saying it could be the pump is cheap, bought a US MOTOR WORKS brand from rockauto was only 40$ lol....or that it's leaking from the bolts because I didn't use any thread locker sealant?
I did not replace the oring because honda didn’t have it in stock on time 🤦♂️ .It still looked good tho I just put a dab of silicone rtv on it lol. Could be the water pump itself tho because of the brand . My gates one wasn’t too expensive it was like $60 bucks
About to attempt this today on my 2007 si coupe… thank you 🙏🏼

Great video I’m doing this wensday to my 08 civic si sedan
Thanks!

There’s a spill hole on the water pump . It’ll leak out from there when it goes bad or the actual pulley itself
@@HustlePaul thanks the replay! I'm going to change it out tomorrow. I bought the same gates water pump.Hopefully it last longer than what yours did.
How’s the pump been thinking of ordering one ??
Only lasted 29k miles lol I threw another gates one on tho lol but I haven’t really driven my car much. I suggest just getting an oem
Honda one
do the hole align without lowering the engine?
No you would have to lower or lift the engine to align with the hole

Oem is best my gates water pump only lasted 29k miles

did it put coolant in your oil? When it was bad?
No it shouldn’t and if there’s coolant in your oil you could possibly have a head gasket leak
Did it throw a po128 since it was leaking
No

Had this same issue.. finally found out the heater core had a leak. I deleted it (from nyc so i freeze).. waiting for summer to see if i change it...
how is the water pump holding up?
I’ve put about 10k miles on it so far it’s good No weird noises or leaks
Is this hard to do yourself on the 2006 Scion xB?
If you know how to take off the belt and got the right tools you’re good
How long can you drive with it sounding like that lol

where did u buy the water pump from
I ordered it off of newegg.com
what mileage did it start going bad?
230k miles
