    Yes, I actually ate two year old ninja crackers for this one! It’s to prove the point that while anime and games like Naruto and Sekiro tend to present processed ninja food as some kind of magic medicine, it actually overshadows just how brilliant ninja were with their food on the go!

    Hot take: Jim Carey's performance and actions in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" makes him a ninja. No, I'm not kidding.
    1) He walks in plain sight during the day disguised as one of the denizens of the town. He also gets away with stealing literally everything the Whos own disguised as Santa, and manages to fool Cindy Lou-Who by acting like him.
    2) He incapacitates a denizen he considers an obstacle with a noxious attack to his face, similar to pepper bombs or smoke bombs. Additionally, he send the town into a panic and distracts them with various fires and explosions while he makes his escape. It's a bit more chaotic than a ninja would use, but he's crazy and it kinda works.
    3) He clings to a high angle in the mailroom when Cindy Lou-Who comes in so she can't see him (tanuki gakure no jutsu).
    4) He regularly uses tools and materials that he finds at the dump at Mt. Crumpit, similar to how ninja would use tools they had on hand or that they made themselves.
    I'm sure there's more that you can probably piece together from this, Goombah. If you could take this theory and run with it I'd be super interested to see your findings. :3

    Had an interesting which ninja character that has a valid argument: Sly Cooper! The guy is a thief, trying to steal back the secrets of his clan that were stolen by what you could call rival clans. The guy uses techniques that greatly resemble jutsu, and his main trait? Stealth, blending in, sticking to the out of sight areas. He not only uses gliders, invisibility techniques and decoys, but he follows the principle of staying out of visibility, staying out of the 45 angle, and using his cane for multiple uses and so forth. I think he's easily a ninja, but I'd rather let the expert (you guys, you're incredible!) test my theory!

    Once again, a very interesting and enjoyable Video About the history of Ninjas. I am really interested by their Food preservation techniques, so I am happy that you talked about them in some depth this time.
    One point of criticism I would like to bring up: Your testing of the two year old ninja hardtack had one little flaw that could affect the significance of the test. Namely that every single one was individually sealed in plastic, eliminating most spoilage factors, such as moisture or various fungi getting Access to the food in the first place. It would have been a better test to leave them unpacked in some sort of box or jar, so that it simulates period accurate food storage more closely. Mind you, it would definetly not spoil easily from how it seems, but it might have spoiled a little in two years.
    Overall a good video in my opinion though. Keep up the good work!

    Pro:
    * As a cat Faunus she has night-vision and an acute sense of hearing
    * Dresses mostly in black but later transitions to dark blue
    * Has a shadow-clone ability which also acts as a smoke bomb. It allows her to distract her opponent so she can move away, either to surprise attack or to run
    * She has a kusarigama-like weapon in Gambol Shroud. which she uses to move herself or her teammates around an environment or battle.
    * Infiltrates a rally to gain information about a terrorist group
    Con:
    * Her weapon is a gun, which is noisy
    * She wears white
    * More combat-orientated than spying

    With how well these rations stayed I wonder if Ninja could have well hidden ration caches in areas that they know they are going to pass through later.

    As a person who has eaten modern hard tac and enjoyed it, I can safely say two things.
    1: Gaijin's results are 100% correct in that those types of feild rations are ment to take abuse and keep you fed.
    2: Gaijin, you need to use a bigger hammer or a cleaned, smooth cobblestone to crush your katayaki into smaller bits. Works better and can easily be picked in most environments. ;)

    The Katayaki reminded me of something. Like most army German Army has these Ready-to-eat packs which is supposed to be enough food for one day. These packs supposedly expire after 3.5 years. They usually also include some hardtack. I can't say if this is still current, but soldiers once said, that these hardtack would never spoil, though that they were also supposedly physically inedible. The soldiers called them 'Panzerplatten' which literally translates to 'tank armor'.

    I do have a suggestion for you. Legend of the Five Rings. The Scorpion Clan are basically open ninja's outright lying about it to everyone's face and getting away with it in hilarious ways. They even poke fun at the stage hand looking stereotype. Basically those guys are distractions while the real ninja does the job. If you survive like that for a while then they start training you how to be a proper Shinobi. Which is how they get around literal truth magic. They never refer to their own as Ninja, it's always Shinobi. There are all sorts of amazing and hilarious traits of the setting that you will like.

    While I wouldn't necessarily call them pure ninja, I think the pilots from Titanfall II are worth a look, and it's free material, so I'd say download it while it's free. At minimum you get another form of walking tanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktanktank to play with, and I know you like those. This one just happens to have surveilance kunai and area denial thermite shuriken.

    You should do an episode of Which Ninja about the 2009 game Mini Ninjas. This game was a major staple of my childhood and I would be honored if you were to examine the game’s main characters and see how accurate they are to real ninja.

    The Katayaki looks like it is designed to be extremely dry, air tight, and to not wick moisture out of the air. With it being properly kept VERY dry, it will have some bacteria on the surface but most of the harmful stuff can't survive in those conditions. It being hard is part of its design. The softer it is, the more moisture it can absorb. This is why you can store sugar or flour in a paper bag and not have it go bad until it gets wet. I bet if you put a bit of water on one of these and set it aside it would go bad fairly quickly.
