Loved your video. The "snowball monstrosity" is my favorite! Did you know it has a headband that goes with it? It's the same fabric as the sweater. My doll wears hers backwards, like a cardigan with a white mock turtle neck underneath, and she never gripes about how itchy the sweater is!😝
We do have the headband - I think we got it after I filmed this. And that's a fun way to style the sweater. I don't think it'll sell me on the outfit lmao, but I'd love to try it just out of curiosity!
I was introduced to AG as an adult in the late 1990’s. I have catalogs and a collection of outfits from 1996-1999. Anything in jeans works well for mix and match. The Earth Day overalls, Picnic Outfit shorts and blue jean basics jeans can be worn with a lot of shirts and accessories. The Play Outfit skirt and top tends to look like a teacher outfit 😜, especially when I put my CYO mini me in glasses. My tip for the shoes is to use the similar sandals for Saige’s sweater outfit. They are more sturdy. Love the Ski Apres, Halloween costumes, Union suit, etc! I like the quality. When Isabel and Nicki were released, I dove straight back to the original GOTY clothes from their time period.
The Play Outfit *IS* giving elementary school teacher vibes lol. And yes, Saige's sandals are a great alternative to those older, cracking sandals. The Apres Ski outfit is one of my favorite GOT outfits :-)
It really is! My older daughter was visiting yesterday and we were hanging out in the doll room. I have those bibs hanging up currently and she noticed them right away. I have a feeling she might put them on her Julie the next time she changes Julie's clothes lol.
So fun. Love all these looks. That mermaid costume is awesome. I was dress coded in high school once and gosh was it humiliating. The teacher went out of her way to make me feel bad and I had to beg my mother not to call the school and mama bear out on her. 😅
I taught high school for three years. I dress coded a couple students during my time as a teacher. To date, those decisions are on my short lists of regrets. Me giving in to stupid, sexist school policies probably made those girls feel indignant, embarrassed, shamed, or all of the above and I wish I'd never done that.

It *was* a good era. I've gotten a lot of my favorites from the GOT era and there are some that I definitely DON'T want, but there are still some on my wish list, so we'll see what 2024 brings :-)

I started collecting well after these outfits came out so I discovered them after the fact like you. So fun to find out about these gems and build that wishlist! Also, I love the name Lisette (and Cosette, and Nicolette, and Juliette,...you get the picture) but my wife Grace hasn't been a huge fan and that doll is jointly owned so the search continues. We're currently trying out Celeste to see if it fits her.
I beg to differ on not being able to mix n match the holiday bibs! My 66 is wearing the bibs with the cargo outfit flannel tucked in and a black CC beanie hat, plus the gold shoes it originally came with. She looks cozy and oh so adorable!

Great job getting all of those older outfits. I think that we are the opposite many times on what styles that we like and don't like. I love the outfit that Ivy is wearing. I have that one and both sets of overalls. I would like to get the ballerina outfit.🙂
So true! I know you are a pink girl through and through. Me, not so much. But I like it in moderation. I actually really like the tights part of that outfit. It's the bulk and the texture of the sweater I don't like. The ballerina outfit is precious.

I've added some polymer clay to my wish list :-) Last year the crafting supply I requested was beads to try jewelry and I ended up making a TON of jewelry for the dolls this year so that did not go to waste. Hopefully the same will be true of clay for 2024!
@@agtakesover I bought a polymer clay machine on Amazon. They’re around $25 and they all pretty much do the same thing. I read so many reviews and the one thing that’s annoying about it is that the handle always seems to fall out. Well maybe that’s on the $25 one but I didn’t want to invest any more than that. Good luck I’m sure you’ll do wonderfully with clay! Just remember, it’s a process and it takes time to perfect the clay craft.
Okay, Ivy is cute enough all by herself to make that horrendous outfit work. It is still horrendous (I still remember you crinkling it for the camera and my teeth immediately setting on edge), but Ivy makes it seem like a more normal outfit. And I just love all these outfits. These outfits are my entire AG childhood - my original doll is a 1995 AGOT #17, and I had many of these outfits as a child - or coveted them. I think I wore an outfit similar to the original Mix n Match meet outfit, but I was also... seven, I believe, when it came out. And I have always been fashion challenged. Forever envious that you have the original Kwanzaa outfit. I 100% wore sleep shirts and slippers - my mum was a seamstress, so there were always pins on the floor, so we were required to always have some sort of footwear on. Thank you for sharing all these darling outfits - they will forever be my favourites in AG's extensive collections, simply because of the nostalgia.
I don't know why, but reading your comments about sleep shirts and slippers made me think of Pillow People from the 80s. You're closer to Grace's age, so you might not be familiar with those, but I had one and I just looked them up. I certainly remember them being cuter than they were lol. Also, Ivy's in a MUCH cuter outfit now and the pink thing is once again hanging up :-)

I honestly think you got one of the funky batches of the blue jeans outfit because I have several of those outfits and the jeans very outfit to outfit just from like manufacturing defects and stuff like that if you can find just the jeans and look at them closely in the pictures to make sure they’re not cut weird or sound weird I think because that outfit was so massively produced there’s so many variations of how the jeans were put together because again I have some that are terrible and I have some that fit amazing

It's so common for that red jumper to fall apart. I know the re-released version looks pretty different because it's a different material, but I also think it will last without cracking. And we finally ended up deciding on a name for her - Celeste :-)
I completely agree that the snowball outfit is atrocious and the jeans do fit really weird. Everything else is really cute. I remember wearing a lot of sleep shirts like the one Giselle has on, but I also remember them riding up all night and bunching at my waist and I really didn't like that part at all. Now I wear PJ pants and big long-sleeved t-shirts and don't have that problem anymore. :) I'm so sorry your were dress-coded. I can see that happening at my daughter's school, as the bottoms don't go past your fingertips, although I think they do go past Blaire's fingertips. I still think they're really cute and school appropriate, but who am I? :) Now I must go watch your video about Columbus closing, because I just saw that was premiering. So sad! :(
PJ pants and big shirts for the win. Slightly off topic but my almost four year old was calling for me tonight after we put her to bed and when I went in she said she was sweaty. She was, in fact, not remotely sweaty. Then she proceeded to argue with me that sweaty "just means when you get up" and had nothing to do with being hot. So that's the logic I'm up against lol.

I never threw mine away but I definitely did forget them everywhere and my mom got so annoyed with that that she stopped buying them unless she could get them for like a quarter at a yard sale lol. What about jelly bracelets? Were you a fan?
@@agtakesover I was definitely a fan of jelly bracelets 😂 I was and still do bite things that are close to my mouth, it’s a habit And my mom tells me about how I would always chew on them 😂 and for someone reason on 4th of July when I was 2 so in 2008 my mom thought it would be a good idea to give a 2 year old me one the snap glow ticks (the iconic 4th of July ones) and long story short, I bit one of them open 💀

I really like Juliette but Grace wasn't a fan of it. The doll's jointly owned so we've gotta find a name we're both sold on. Makes naming dolls doubly hard sometimes lol.
