Great advice for beginners! This is pretty much how I've been smoking since watching a mutnchop piper video back in the day. I keep them clenched and use my tongue/jaw like a bellows to keep the cherry lit from underneath while clearing out the stale smoke and cooling down the bowl.

Because some new pipe smokers came from cigarettes they tend to puff fast and freight train their pipes. For those guys I recommend 30 to 45 seconds between puffs so they don't torch themselves like they are on mustafar. Good tips,
