    I have 11 grand babies. I had all their pictures everywhere. It was too much. I changed all the frames to a simple black. I placed all of them on 3 picture shelves from IKEA on 1 wall . Just this much simpler display really helped my house feel less cluttered. Love your show!

      Oh that is so frustrating!! Can you post a FREE sign on the box and leave it on your porch? Maybe the people who end up taking it could use the items?

    I have found that the best place for me to keep my returns and errands are in my car trunk. Sometimes I gather them on my launch pad the evening before, but then take them right to my car in the morning.

    I agree with pretty much everything…except the plants. I will declutter everything else in my house to make room for more plants.

    I always get up at 6am to do chores, idk just out of habit of having to take the kids to school etc. This one day, I got up, and cleaned. But round 10am my eye started hurting so bad, I had to go lay down with my daughter. On that one day my husband decides to stop by with his friend for lunch. My house was clean and ready. Cause I dont have any visual clutter, and its always guest ready. I was so proud of myself. That I finally achieved that level of clutter free minimalism.

    I LOVE the idea of turning books around! Thank you so much for that!!! ❤
    I used to be an emotional hoarder until I started my jouney on minimalism almost 4 years ago. And I must admit although I got rid of about 85 to 90 % of my stuff, I still feel the weight and anxiety of too much clutter. I never knew why that still is the case but it might have to do with letters and things like that. Before this video I would never think of that.

    Peter Walsh recommends keeping a collection grouped together rather than scattered. Makes a bigger impact (photos, decorative items, etc)

    In good weather take the plants outside and give them a hosing with a gentle spray, then wipe down the outside of the pots. Your plants will enjoy the outing and look nice and fresh in your home. (Also breaks up your housecleaning routine and gives you an excuse to get some fresh air!)

    I take big plants outside and hose down. Smaller ones go in the sink for a good rinse and a fertilizer once a month! Returns belong in your car! Take it there now!😊

    I have a bakers rack that I set in front of the only sunny window in my house, and most of my houseplants are arranged on the shelves. This gives me a wonderful, peaceful, green space in my dining room. I have 9 plants arranged on it. And I have 1 plant in my nook, and 1 in my kitchen (aloe). My basil plant is outside on the table on my lanai.

    I actually have not only a bin for returns, but also one for incoming items, new clothes, different purchases, because living in a rush I'm really bad at putting new things away, it really helps me to have it all in one place and sort when I see that the bin is full

  • @eleanorde-hayes7760

    Cards make a room look cluttered. Keep birthday cards etc on show just for a week then remove. Also simple wire card holders etc help when there are a lot of incoming cards like Christmas.

    • @FancyThatwithCandice
      @FancyThatwithCandice  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do this exactly, cards get displayed on the piano for one week then I take them down! The ones with personal comments and messages inside I keep, the others I toss!

    I have no use for most of my receipts.
    All my purchases are on my banking app. I only keep certain receipts for items I might need or want to return, like a lamp or an appliance.
    Want a sure way to keep clutter off the top of your refrigerator; get cats. Mine use the top of the refrigerator as one of their hang outs. Especially when someone is cooking.

  • @goodenoughgirl8102
    @goodenoughgirl8102 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love these.
    I really can’t stand a lot of the packaging or labels on products. Lol.
    I found out that I had quite a few pastel and white books. So I stacked them up horizontally and they really look cute. Like a cute. decor piece. So then I basically just did all my books on the shelf grouping them with like size and colors and sectioning them off. I also put the less attractive and not “matchy” ones under wraps and used a pretty magazine holder thing for some of them.
    I have some fake plants and flowers. One day I was cleaning with water and Murphy’s oil soap. I just dunked all the fake plants and swished them around in it and shook them off. Let them dry. Now they look brand new and smell great. Lol. I have to go fake Bcuz I can’t keep real ones alive. Lol.
    I’m also a big fan of solid colored curtains. Helps streamline the color scheme of a room and make it warm and cozy looking. Pretty and sometimes elegant. I cover many things with easy wash fabrics as well as the curtains. I try to get things to where my washing machine can clean most things for me. My next goal is removable sofa cushion covers (Made originally to be washable) and washable rugs. This is mostly Bcuz I have many cats. Lol.

      @FancyThatwithCandice  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have some amazing tips...thanks for sharing them!!! I also think removable sofa cushions sounds amazing!! My couch is looking dingy right now and Im not looking forward to hiring a cleaner.

    • @goodenoughgirl8102
      @goodenoughgirl8102 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FancyThatwithCandice Lol. Thanks! With cats, I have accepted that I’ll not likely ever pay a lot for a brand new sofa. (Drooling, grooming dirt, hairballs, sneezing, dander, scratching, etc and for rugs possibly urine 😅😅). I’ve been able to find fairly nice stuff on Marketplace for fairly cheap, so it’s easier for me to take risks with “experimental cleaning.” I took my sofa apart basically (4 large cushions) and ran the covers through the washer on delicate and mostly hang to dry. (They all had zippers). The hardest part was getting the covers back on. 😅😅. The cleaning part turned out great but the back cushions now just look a little “round” and flop around a bit. 😂😂. I sprayed the rest with this magic cat cleaner (although I think peroxide would’ve prob worked just as good). I was just happy to know it was clean. I only did this once in like 4 years tho. Lol. But I wouldn’t want to work that hard on a regular, that’s for sure. I think I heard that IKEA makes a sofa like that and also if you get tired of one color, you can just order a diff color for the covers. But yah. The sofa I have is “Cindy Crawford Home” (likely Rooms to go or such originally lol) and only cost me $125. 😅😅 In the future, I may just spot clean or refresh it with spraying peroxide on it and see how it goes. Lol. For now I just lay an attractive looking blanket over a large part of it and wash the blanket more often. These cats. They make you learn a lot 😅😅 Bcuz OCD and clean freak human with pets is kind of a counterintuitive combo. Lol. But what can I say? I love them regardless.

    Put the return receipt directly in the bag with the item that way you spend zero time looking for a receipt, once in a bag like that you are still wasting time searching for it.

      Just take it one little task at a time. break the bigger tasks into smaller ones. Have a list of the areas/rooms you need to declutter so your process is organized. I know what you mean, though. It took me MANY MANY months to declutter my home initially!

    Hi Candice. I have a question and a comment:
    I watch one of your videos and you put your receipts in a zipper bag you got from Amazon. I can't find the video now so can you let me know what it was called on Amazon so I can purchase it.
    Also one chore I don't like is emptying the dishwasher. I watched one of the videos and you timed it. So I decided to do that it took me 2 1/2 minutes. Today I sighed because I had to empty it again and I told my husband it only takes a couple of mins and it did 2 mins 45 seconds. Thanks for this tip it's making it easier.
