    This worked great for my nagging sciatica. Had it flare up for 3 days in a row. Played soccer last night with no pain. What a relief.

    This is an excellent video that goes well beyond talking about Neproxen to explaining the inflammation process in detail in easy to understand terms and offering natural alternatives to Neproxen and similar drugs.

    This is a really good point, and actually, these medications aren't supposed to be taken for longer than a week at a time. Many people take them much longer than that, but it's important to realize that there are always long-term effects when taking most medications. Most people would think that, because this is an OTC medication it would be completely safe. That just isn't the case. It's important to talk to your doctor about these things.

    ER prescribed naproxen 1500 mg a day. I presented with debilitating pain in hip and groin although nothing shows up on Ct scan and extras. After a week on naproxen I have no relief. I’m guessing that the next step is Opioids. Where I live Docs won’t prescribe though. Desperate for relief!

    Very good information I currently take naproxen for a sore back. But i've been taken it sporadically when I have pain. I'm going to try the alternatives.

  • @drrondaultonjr

    I'm not sure either - everyone reacts differently to medications, so you may want to discuss that with your doctor.

  • @drrondaultonjr
    @drrondaultonjr  11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That's a difficult one for me to help you with because I haven't examined you and don't know what is causing the pain. It could be coming from your neck, or it could be a problem in the shoulder, or both. I wish I could help you more, bit I would need to know the cause of the pain first.

    The obvious question that comes to mind is if naproxen sodium blocks the prostaglandins from braking down arachidonic acid, then what happens to the arachidonic acid? It would seem that it remains, and if that is the case, then one must ask if this is healthy.

  • @drrondaultonjr
    @drrondaultonjr  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not sure if that's actually related to the medication or not, but I definitely think that it is going to affect your activity level and boxing will most likely become a problem for you. I think they need to find out why it's happening first, though.

  • @Hailrain.

    Quick question. I'm taking naproxen right for my sprained finger. I have a party in 5 days, how long should I not take naproxen before drinking alcohol and how long should I not take naproxen after drinking alcohol?

  • @drrondaultonjr
    @drrondaultonjr  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well, I'm not sure if that's an allergic reaction to the medication or a drug interaction. You would have to ask your doctor about that because they know your case best.

    where can i find that diagram? the one with anachadonic acid?

  • @drrondaultonjr
    @drrondaultonjr  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes! If you take aspirin with it, it will thin your blood too much and you could run into a lot of troubles with your blood being unable to clot. Also, I don't think there is a drug interaction with ephedrine and caffeine, but I do know that the ephedrine could affect your heart in the long-term. I would strongly recommend that you find another way to lose weight.

    hi Ron.. I have been taking naprosyn for over a year every day for severe chronic migraines. it is really hard to find good info the drug. my doctors arent concerned about side effects, even though i have no other treatment because iv seen a few different neurologists/rheumatologists but they don't know what to do (just put me on different medication).. i am very worried about the long term side effects, naprosyn has given me my life back but nearly everyone in my family has had heart issues and a few have had strokes so I want to be very cautious.. do you have any suggestions and most imprtantly any ideas about what actual diagnosis I might get !.. chronic migraines is real but not understood and I believe it is an inflammatory disease because of how severe it is.. thank you !

    How long until the side effects wear off? I feel terrible and two weeks supply to cure a herniated disc run out in three days (not cured the pain though as I can feel it come back when they wear off).

    • @drrondaultonjr
      @drrondaultonjr  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Rachael Walters This medication doesn't heal anything - most don't, in fact. It is just covering the symptoms. I can't tell you how long it will take for the side effects to wear off, because everyone is different. I would ask the doctor who prescribed it about that.

    • @summerisonthursday5239
      @summerisonthursday5239 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DrRonDaultonJr I had a feeling it was just covering symptoms and think I have made my back worse by taking it by doing more than I would as I didn't feel the pain as much. Thanks.

    Naproxen made me break out with cold sores on my face. How can they prescribe me this after I have already been taking ibuprfen and they know that's a bad mix. The puss seemed acidic and it spread where fluid seemed to touched to. Is benagrill really the best thing for this.

      +DrRonDaultonJr I think I slipped a disk trying to crack my back... I used to see a chiropractor, but that's when I had insurance... You will not believe that the chiropractor made me strong again. I was working hard and heavy for 6-8 years, but the heavy lifted and several falls throught the winter months is taking a toll on my back. I just rolled on the round thing on my back while back wards on the floor and I felt a couple of pops, but not pain in the center-lower back on the left side. It started feeling swollen and painful after 3 days or so. I need an adjustment, but what alternative do I have. It feels hot and painful and like swollen throbing..

    • @drrondaultonjr

      +Scales Jutice If it's hot and painful and swollen, you would use ice.

At the ER they prescribed ibuprofen. well long story short company DR had asked me to start taking naproxen, at sometime during the visit I remember her saying. "Wow they gave you the good stuff." Well that was all I needed to hear to keep taking ibuprofen. when i ran out, I waited two days before taking naproxen. as soon as I took it I noticed migrane headache showed up. I only ate
