This was a TV special and is just out and out, silly, messing about comedy of a type that was popular/experimental in Britain in the late '60s. I was totally in love with them and remember watching this with great excitement!
Not a chance. I'm sure Barry's destroyed the negatives for this one. I suspect we'll probably see an official release of the lost album "A Kick in the Head is Worth Eight in the Pants" before we see an official release of "Cucumber Castle."
I for one absolutely adored this film. It is so frickin hilarious. Oh, Maurice. HA! Such a funny fellow. Just funny merriness all round. It really made me laugh.
The Gees Gees! Wow! Only ever seen clips from this program. Wishin' and hopin' that they will rerelease this as part of the awesome Bees Gees reissue series, hopefully as a dvd with the original "Cucumber Castle" album/cd.
They won't, at least not as long as Barry's alive. He and Maurice hated every single moment of working on it and the album, because even though they were feuding with Robin at the time, they still missed him. If you're an interviewer and you ask Barry about the possibility of a remastered DVD and/or Blu-Ray of this, if you manage to get anything out of your mouth after you say "Cucumber Castle" before Barry bluntly says "No," you're lucky. This and "A Kick in the Head is Worth Eight in the Pants" will be the mythical "lost" Bee Gees projects.
Awesome find. Never saw this! The music is great as I have the cucumber castle CD and love it. Barry and Mo are decent actors and kept me interested in this silly movie. I love "I was the Child" song. Love Barry's vibrato and his ability to create such an emotional piece.
I've got the original LP, I didn't know they made a movie, thank you so much for having posted it!! Ah many memories come back to me, I was only 8 but it's all still alive in my mind!!
i just love this movie! just the whole feel of it. its a bit similar to the beatles movie magical mystery tour, but different. this movie is something else when i have a couple drinks in me. i really feel the movie.

yeah, the Cucumber Castle project ended up being a dud(the film, I mean)--although both the album and the film are now collector's items. The Bee Gees music was always perfect--but this "concept" film had the same oddness as The Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" film which at the time was also widely panned..
