  • It's August 1993 and i'm in the North West, at Carlisle. Plenty of class 08 Gronk action on this upload with 3 different 08's seen plus classes 20, 47 & 90 on Inter-City & Rail Tour workings along with class 156 Super-Sprinter DMU's on Regional Railways & Scotrail services. The highlight is seeing a triple header class 20 rail tour departing south. If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!

The railtour is the Triple Chopper Tripper (try saying that in a hurry!), which began at Bristol behind 47706, which hauled it to Stafford, where the 20s took over, until Upperby goods line, where they were detached, and the 08 took over. This then hauled it into Carlisle, to allow the 20s to be on the front end for the run south. The tour then returned to Stafford, this time via the Settle and Carlisle, to Stafford, where 47706 took over, for the run to Bristol.

The window bars on the vestibule windows were common on the third rail stock, but never seen it on Mk1s…was it something only specific to the tourist/charter stock sets?

Lovely stuff! I spot one of the three ex pullman Mk.3B BFO's (with the wider door) @7.30. Also, them BRT 20's in BR blue, the last non-retro loco's to be painted into all-over blue by B.R. i believe (20187 done at ZF 3.93)! Nice vid sir.

I spy a couple of kettles in High Wapping Sidings....

@@nelson408. is that an anti-monarchy thing? I know kettles means a steam loco, but this video’s on carlisle…

@BRtechnicalservices Not at all. Didn't realise my comment had replied to yours 😄.
I was referring to the steam locos in the sidings which were used on railtours over the Settle and Carlisle line.
