Armstrong’s nanomachines only protected him from damage.
His strength was pure 100% beef-fed Texan swoleness. Swole is the goal. The gains are worth the pain.
I thought the majority of the strength came from his energy absorption. Like the energy he took from the Metal Gear? Or when he fought Sam?

I could honestly sympathize with both Armstrong and Raiden. Raiden knew the sacrafice for the good Armstrong wanted was not worth it, but they both understood in the end that world was broken, and neither of them were a perfect solution.
Yeah, Raiden agreed that America is rotten to the core but didn't agree with Armstrong's approach to solve the problem while also satisfying his bloodlust along the way.

Except Armstrong wants a country devoid of empathy and Raiden is just this cool cyborg samurai that runs around killing terrorists.
NANOMACHINES IS THE ONLY SOLUTION
I listened to this and loved it, Raiden's pained groans and grunts add plenty of melody to Armstrong's speech, like a true American speech.

Maybe your dad should’ve been eating the mother of all omelettes for breakfast everyday, Jack. Can’t fret over the price of every egg.
your dad should run for president and use that as his selling point
My point exactly that it was the pure texan beef testosterone and not the nanomachines that made him built like minecraft bedrock
My father was a body builder and tried to complete and he looks too much like Armstrong but with hair.
You mean your dad on nanomachines?
when you grow up to understand the villain's point.
Also when its the future and you realize that the Japanese are perfect at predicting the future landscape of American politics. If we just think for a second and accept that even if Armstrong is in the right which he is, we'd still probably would've never expected someone to unironically act like him in real life and still get elected. Sure Trump didn't get reelected and sure he might not have started saying eff the media until it was post 2016, but he was sayin shiz like we need to make America great again. It's still so amazing how the Japanese predicted that this kind of personality would arise in the future...that or Trump was just plagiarizing Armstrong's speeches the entire time.
@@theprofesionalist7927 Trump and Armstrong are nothing alike.
Trump was another “limp-dick politician”. who simply does what they do because they want people to vote for them.
Armstrong? He actually went through with his plans, to remove war as a business by STARTING war. His WHOLE reason for becoming what he was, was because he was sick and tired of what America has become, what has become of it’s people.
@@nexuslord6831 Nah U right; at the end of the day it's just like Raiden said. Trump was all talk no action, he probably did copy paste Armstrong's speeches just so he could sound cool.

I know hes the villain, but legit hes my favorite dude.
His points are correct, but so are Raiden's, in that his methods are flawed and ignore some facts of reality, but the actual goal and mindset are completely valid. He's a good villain because nearly everything he says is right, and that is part of why Raiden's story ends with him following the same philosophy mixed with his own.

I love that while Armstrong is making his rant, the lyrics are countering what he’s saying. It’s beautiful
Really depends on how you look at it. The song changes thematically depending on who’s perspective lens you look through.
It is Raiden's song, about how he views Armstrong. "I carved my own path, you followed your wrath." is the biggest hint to this.
Whilst also AGREEING with Armstrong on some points. Being unable to entirely refute his goal, it says alot that Raiden ultimately is Armstrong's successor and he carries on that fight in his own way.
Also Sam eludes that this is battle of fate when blade wolf speaks
And the one who wins is right (raiden)
As awesome as the remix was, I literally couldn't stop laughing when, during Armstrong's monologue, I could hear Raiden grunting in pain.

This is the "I have a dream" speech that should be taught in schools.
My first fight with Armstrong was legendary, I didn't knew how to escape excelsior attacks so I lost a bunch of health on that and in the first scripted battles with the senator, when was time for the real deal the final fight of the game I was out of healing supplies but at least I had 190% hp and maxed energy(I like exploring a lot so lost only 1 hp upgrade), what made the fight so special is ALL OTHERS boss battles you can survive if you have prepared but for this last fight? I didn't had any items left so the only way to survive is doing what dark souls players do all the time, the classic ''git good'', so I did after so many deaths, so many resets, many suffering, and almost ALMOST ragequitting I learned how to counter every single attack even the insane rock-throwing special attack until finally, I won, my friends that was one of the best victories I ever had in a videogame, that with the legendary music? truly perfection.
PS: in PC the control of zanzatsu sucks, is really hard to control it so the rock attack was a nightmare but there is a catch if you run like hell towards the boss and stay directly below the boss(he jumps into an unreachable wall area of the arena having the higher ground) he can't throw the rocks at you, is so simple yet unbelievably effective lmao.
Out of all the languages you could have studied and put effort on, you chose wiseness.

Holy shit I missed this. Listening to these mixes is just amazing. American mix was one of my favorites, so getting a remake is a gift from... Well, the Senator, there is no God here

Armstrong was one of those villains who just wanted to rid his country of corrupt politicians and weak leaders, but instead of trying to change his country the democratic way, he tried to start a war that would lead to the deaths of thousands of people and wanted to turn America into a chaotic warzone where people could just kill eachother in the streets if they disagreed over what they believed was right.
Smash the deep state in order to create a society of complete freedom as envisioned by the founding fathers?

The best part is: that game came out in 2013
@Wicker 2 I mean he's not wrong, the political points Kojima makes were true when he made them, but tons of people just weren't able to see what he meant until more recently.
That feel when Armstrong lowkey makes a good point.
He doesn't though, his society is just one that builds on the same rot our current way does but where those who have the means to control aren't beholdent to the population but are in charge due to circular logic. By forgetting what enables someone to be strong and resourceful, a varied diet, time to workout, higher education and access to advanced medicine, we forget that all these things are built on wealth. This would be no different in Armstrong's utopia, it'd be the exact same bullshit except the wealthy would feel like they deserve their place in society even more. A good corporation doesn't let small fry stir up to one day face them, they set out to control their market so nobody can challenge their growing dominion. Why would a powerful person in Armstrong's world act any different? Virtue? Inherent virtue associated with the strong/pure? Now we're moving into a mixed field of Christian theocracy and eugenics, so let's not.
