Senator Armstrong really just showed up out of nowhere, dropped his entire philosphy in Raiden, cued his amazing track, then proceeded to become the most iconic MGS villain outside of maybe Liquid or Ocelot with merely 2 bossfights
Imagine creating a spin-off that's just as important as the main series, and having a gameplay that gets progressively better and better and EVERY soundtrack absolutely slaps, and not only that, but you also made the game immortal just by adding the word memes to an already memeable game, damn, MGR is so freaking great
Still find it funny how Armstrong chronologically is the "final boss" of the franchise (at this time), it kinda makes me think that konami or even kojima doesn't have any idea how to make a sequel beyond this without being lesser than before. I think the best thing about this game is, simply put, the tone. It's edgy, but the GOOD kind of edgy: it somehow completely owns how crazy awesome it is but has just enough camp and self-awareness to avoid being cringe. I like to believe that this theme represents Raiden who has assimilated the philosophy of all his enemies and especially Sam's, while agreeing with Armstrong's objective but not his methods. Thing that is linked to the final cinematic where Raiden repeats one of Armstrong's phrases, meaning that Jack was able to accept himself and evolve thanks to the other bosses.
I believe a lot of popular music (Radio, Large fan based etc) fails to capture the "emotional motivation" aspect. Nothing has heart like the soundtracks I hear from MGRR and DMC.. The messages they convey are very loud and straight to the point, invigorating the mentality of freedom of speech and shouting for what you believe in. No matter if its wrong or right. Lyrics like "Whos to judge, right from wrong" really captures this. Ultimately realizing everyone is passionate about something. Not gonna lie these edits you make get me very emotional in a great way and shows the reason music plays such a big part in my life. Lyrics mean something to me , music should tell a story. Including voice lines and making the soundtrack louder in certain parts really makes you feel like you're in the moment.
