I would love to hear your opinion about the world-building in Gothic 3. In my opinion there was a lot of potential that was sadly never realised because of time constraints. Especially because many locations were already mentioned in Gothic 1&2.
Maybe you could do a video about how to better combine the worlds of all three games to make it feel more coherent?

Hey, cool video! I know your channel is about writing, but originally I found you becasue of your Gothic videos, so... A Gothic 3 analysis (especiallya negative one) would probably generate views. But if I may suggest something: do a world building video about Archolos.

Archolos next? That video would definitely take one hour easily but I would love watching every minute of it.

This is a really cool video. Glad to see some love given to such a great game 😊

Yeah, as good as it is, NotR does stand out and feels a little out of place in the game, doesn't help how different the (english) voice acting sounds from the base game, but the mesoamerican style always felt a little weird to me. Which is surprising considering PB did so well with the ruin designs in the first game and could have easily reused them in the addon, and it would also make sense lore-wise. Also, what's up with the watchtower near the pirate camp? The area is supposed to be undiscovered, yet it has a Myrtanian style tower built inside. Makes me think only the coastal area was explored, and a pass to the interior wasn't found before the area was forgotten.

Yeah, the watchtower, the mechanical problem with the stone tablets, the "we hired another member of the water ring when you were absent and then he died" part which was lazy storytelling af.
There are so many problems that i listed only a handfull in the "issues" section.
The dialogue in polish also becomes very lazy as some characters have 2 voice actors, one reads the line of the base game and the other for the expansion.
What's even funnier is that the first voice actor still read new lines for new characters in the expansion so it's not like they didn't manage to get him on board, they were just lazy.

You could say the desert canyon is the result of the rain shadow effect since it's separated from the coast by mountains.
I think it's fair to forgive the usage of the Ring of Water armour as this is Gothic and faction armours are a key part of the experience.
I think the reason the pirate camp has not been discovered is just the fact that there are no ships left to discover them 😂. The orcs pretty much rule the sea since the battle of the Eastern Archipelago hence why Esmeralda is the only one left..
All in all a good video and extra praise for refusing to cover Gothic 3!

Even though I'm a long term fon of Gothic 1 + 2, I've still learned a few things and got to think about inconsistencies I never paid too much attention to. I'd actually love to see a Gothic 3 dissection, mostly because I completely agree with your take on the game and would love to hear your criticism. Also it would serve as a conclusion to the your Gothic video series with an admittedly tragic ending. But all of that is up to you.

If we count Archolos then it might not be a tragic ending :)

@@lordtea7688 I was refrerring to the official Piranha Bytes trilogy, but yeah sometimes mod teams have incredible potential. But since I'm not polish (I assume you are?) I unfortunately cannot share the same enthusiasm. The german voice acting has always been an integral part of the experience to me.

Watched all 3 Gothic videos in a row. As much as I love the games, I still have to agree on the flaws you pointed out.
Right now I’m playing Archolos, it’s a mod for gothic 2. haven’t finished it yet, but I’m impressed by it. I think it does a pretty good job in world building. Having it’s own world map, factions and story. Might be worth taking a look at.
And also maybe Enderal, a mod for TES Skyrim. I think it does a good job at attempting to tackle the world building problems Skyrim has.

I know of Archolos i was closly watching it's development and it's really good.
It does have some modern game tropes (like A LOT of hand-holding in the first chapter) but when the games opens up it's an absolute great game. It's G2 on steroids.
Also, the city... damn i don't think i saw a better made fantasy city in a game for a long time

    Great video!
What are your thoughts on Risen? I’ve only played the first game, it’s not great but at least decent, I think.
And also Elex, I’ve tried playing it recently. It only reminded me about Gothic.

    • @lordtea7688
      @lordtea7688  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I don't really have thoughts on those since i didn't play them.
Also the premise of Elex is not something appealing to me.
