Tariffs will increase costs of finished goods and components used throughout US manufacturing. This will be an immediate and huge hike in inflation. To fight inflation the Fed will have to hike interest rates which will be wonderful for the billionaires but possibly take away the middle class. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun..

Those that aren't rich are not hedge and are at great risk in the bubble of all bubbles with the debt at all time highs. You never explained WHY we stopped using Tarrifs in 1913 and switched to Fed Income tax
It’s because Tarrifs didn’t work as well anymore because of our natural desire to trade and grow the economy!
Simply , Tarrifs wasn’t sufficient source of revenue
Tarrifs disproportionately affected consumers and often led to trade tensions.
Hence why we switched to a federal income tax to solve this via the 16th amendment

Either the tariffs is high, and protects home industries, but because its high no one buys foreign goods, so its rarely actually paid. So no tax revenue is bought in. Or its low, and you raise revenue, but you raise revenue because people arent investing in homes industries. and are relying on foreign goods.

Its like someone saying they made a lot this year but owe way more than they make because bills/inflation/ housing costs. I encourage you to research cash on hand & debts by the major corporations. Even the CEO that admitted to price gouging on food, that business is under a lot of water. Billions in debt by all these companies cannot be seen as a good thing other than they printed money to survive. To add to it you have employees wanting raises, I hope employees monitor the debt increases because as that happens layoffs happen, not raises.

And go look at Alex Merc's interview with Adam Taggart to get a better understanding of the tariffs, I had a shallow understanding of them before like that, but when you are running massive deficits and have the reserve currency, the calculus changes big time. The United States sources approximately 35% of its lumber for home construction from Canada. The upcoming 25% tariffs in January are expected to significantly increase home prices. Additionally, efforts to round up immigrants would create a substantial labor shortage in the home-building industry, further driving up costs. The U.S. also imports various home-building materials from Mexico, including cement, steel, tiles, glass, and pre-fabricated home components, which are subject to tariffs. These tariffs will contribute to rising costs for new home construction, likely increasing demand for used homes as new builds become prohibitively expensive. However, higher demand for used homes will also cause their prices to surge.

It was called the Smoot-Hawley Act. It didn't work, and the regulations that has since been put in place for consumer protection is also being threatened by budget cuts in these departments.

The competitive advantage of a secondary economy is in textiles. Here the biggest cost is raw materials. Labor is cheaper in a developing economy than in an advanced economy. A developing country advantage is in cheap labor

This led to retaliatory tariffs from other countries, affecting American farmers by making their exports more expensive and less competitive in international markets. This impacted their income and market access. The U.S. government provided several aid packages to help farmers, totaling around $28 billion between 2018 and 2019. Secondly, ultimately companies will find the path of least resistance. He just mentioned it, they will determine where the cost would be cheapest. If not China than what other country. It’s not simplistic as companies see tariffs on China, and they simply move manufacturing into US. They’re going to do their cost analysis prior to doing any operation shift.

The capital investments and switching costs of moving mfg back to the US would be immense. And it takes YEARS. So the consumer is to pay all this extra money in the meantime? And when it’s all said and done, the companies are gonna pass the costs of those investments and higher labor costs on to us. So the consumer is screwed in the short AND long term.

if there was a glut of steel and aluminum, not all tax would pass on to the consumer, china and others would be forced to lower their prices to match sales from other countries without tariffs or stop producing. Price is determined in large part by cost to produce the product with the least margin. If demand is still being met because of the glut, price would not rise by the total amount of the tariff. rebar in your graph is fluctuating 25% all the time, I think the tariffs got lost in the noise

We need to get a very high percentage of our waste recycled into raw materials. We need to stop using plastics that cause problems not only to our environment but our health as well. The thing great with glass is it can be recycled indefinitely. Yes glass does break, yes it does weigh more than plastic but do we really to get a new container for every time we get something. Would it be cheaper if stores soled items in bulk and we only need what we get it bulk. If we could build more houses so that everyone could afford them.

Even if we could bring back a lot of manufacturing, the cost of producing would be much higher than decades ago because of inflation, much higher wages workers would need to survive because the said inflation and business overhead in general including regulatory compliance. Then the goods produced would have higher price tags and then we American consumers wouldn’t be able to afford these goods, and other nations won’t buy our goods either because our prices are not competitive. Even China’s manufacturing has been struggling with the inevitable arrival of the luxurious lifestyle followed by cheap-labor manufacturing success because after a while, like Ray Dalio says, manufacturing workers get out of poverty and become middle class that expects higher wages to support their new lifestyle.

But it would have been a recession if Hoover hadn't passed his 27 laws trying to engineer the economy instead of letting it correct itself (FDR called Hoover the Wonder Boy because he agreed with Hoover's ecponimc policies). Hoover's one big achivement was wedding the agrarian and industrial socities together under Wilson (yes, Hoover was actually a Democrat but ran as a Republican). Harding halted the Deep Depression of 1919/1920 instantly by cutting taxes on the rich and triggering the Roaring 20's economic miracle.

When the U.S. imposed high tariffs historically, such as the Tariff of 1828 ("Tariff of Abominations") and the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930, the outcomes were mixed and often controversial:
    Early Tariffs (19th Century):
Revenue Source: Tariffs were the primary source of government revenue before income tax (pre-1913). They protected domestic industries but also increased consumer costs.
Sectional Tensions: The Tariff of 1828 angered Southern states, who relied on imported goods and foreign trade, contributing to rising sectional tensions before the Civil War.
    Smoot-Hawley Tariff (1930):
Retaliation: Other countries imposed retaliatory tariffs, worsening global trade.
Economic Decline: It deepened the Great Depression by reducing international trade and stifling economic recovery.
Consensus Against Protectionism: The economic fallout shifted U.S. policy toward free trade in subsequent decades.
High tariffs helped some industries but often hurt the broader economy by reducing competition and trade. This complexity is crucial to understanding the full historical impact.

You gave a brief history of tariffs but you should also give a brief history of wage increases for the average American. You also mentioned that corporations will get tax breaks and “maybe” the working class. History will show that under republicans corporations benefited mostly. It’s hard not to look at this whole situation without bringing politics into this. The information is ok but there is so much more information that should be added to your video for people to have a better understanding of what might come next for the economy in 2025.

Whether anyone out there noticed or not, Trump himself said that he expects prices to go up initially, but they should drop back down as the tariffs take full effect. BUT THE WONDERFUL NEWS NEVER TELLS THE REST OF THE STORY. Per usual.

Its simple. If you implement terrif, it means the consumer pays more for those ptoducts.
If the goal is met to force companjea to manufacture inside the US then it mean the same product now will cost more than they do now coming in from overseas. For the simple fact that it cost apple US 5000 a year per worker to produce an iphone in produce in china. But now if the close those overseas manufacturing facilities and move manufacturing to the US then it will not cost apple 75, 000 per worket per year to produce the same phone.
People dont trick yourlves, manufacturing is not coming back to the US and if it does, then people will not have the money to afford these items that would now be produced in the US.
    Its simple a b c

I believe if Americans pull up there boot straps an come willing to work an create new company’s, more jobs, fill agricultural positions that most don’t want, we could literally turn America self reliant. But I don’t think it would happen, too many unwilling to take or get jobs an contribute. We may not reduce cost but could level it out an grow the economy an raise wages, etc after that.

I agree with bringing manufacturing to the US.

How many years will it physically take for companies to relocate back into the US and start production again, all while Trump has booted out all the cheap labour very much needed? There has to be a time lag between introduction of tariffs and manufacturing to relocate, that is if these tariffs work in doing that.

Honestly, I was on the fence about this presale, but the more I read about Alemio, the more convinced I became. The AI integration is brilliant!
