Totally agree her version is very bland and not as charismatic as say Cathy rigby or Mary Martan or sandy duncan. Not to take anything’s way from Allison Williams but it’s just not her role. Personally I love what NBC is trying to do and make musicals more accessible to the public and to people who wouldn’t normally go out to say broadway or regional theaters to see shows. Peter Pan is my favorite musical ever I saw the Cathy rigby tour when I was 6 then a year later I was Michel darling at one of the regional theaters in my area and I have been acting ever since. Peter Pan is an amazing musical but I don’t know what really went wrong here it was a mix of bad casting and personally I didn’t like the new orchestrations. It wasn’t the worst production I’ve seen it had amazing costumes and sets but it wasn’t the greatest. (I’m not trying to start an argument or anything everyone is entitled to their own opinion you could have loved it you could have thought it was horrible but I’m just here to express my opinion thanks for taking the time to read this)
I honestly didn’t see a problem. She is the first peter (played by a female) that I could actually see passing as a male. Cathy Rigby is AMAZING, and probably the best overall peter, but I could never suspend my disbelief to think she was a boy. I loved Allison’s line delivery and singing in this version.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but I was watching the full movie and noticed that during the song Wendy both of the twins plus the lost boy with a bandana has scraped their knees and that their knees are red. During this scene, after a commercial break, their knees are still bloody. It’s quite visible on the twins at 0:57.

Why did we ever have a grown woman playing Peter Pan? There are plenty of young men that can sing, dance and act. That said, I loved Peter Pan with Mary Martin the first time I saw it on TV. I was enchanted and still love it.
It’s just a generally a role played by women, mainly due to when the play first was a thing they couldn’t hire a child within the age range of Peter Pan due to his education! So, it was played by a woman since they could do higher voices and be near the height as Peter and had time to participate in the play, unlike a schooled boy.
